    -Thrown a wobbly : to become very upset
    -Yakking: to talk too much
    -Bits and bobs: several small tasks eg
    -Faff around: to do nothing important that isn't useful
    -umpteen : made up number/ Many
    -Wind up : joke supposed to be annoying
    -Slammed: very busy
    -Jiffy: a short time
    -To crack on : to start to do something with energy
    Mare : Short for nightmare
    Jimjam: piece of clothing, pyjamas
    Noshing on some chocolate: nosh (v) :eat / noun nosh eg : let's grab some nosh

    Fun fact: in German "naschen" (pronounced sth like "nushn") means to eat as well, but specifically for small amounts, especially of sweets. You can "naschen" from savoury food as well but most often it means nibbling chocolate, gummy bears etc.

    I took part in the slang challenge in December and loved it. So much fun and really useful vocabulary. I highly recommended this and other challenges and Lucy’s way of teaching English in general.

    Hi Lucy. As with the rest of your clips, this is a gem clip for vocab. It would be great if you could upload your clips with the volume up. Despite using maximum volume on both laptop and RUclips, the volume is low and it is difficult to focus on your pronunciation.

      I guess she knows how to talk to the queen. If I tell the queen there is this wonderful person called Lucy and I advice to find an order to give her. If the madam say yes I guess Lucy know what English to use. Dang I do not know ... is the old Elisabeth still there or have she died or stepped down I have creeping feeling there is a male now.

    I remember a UFC event where an english guy was insulting an american with loads of slang. Later, when the american was asked why he didn't react at all to being so insulted, the american said, "I didn't realize he was speaking english."

    The word noshing is derived from the Yiddish language. There you have "nosh" or "nash". Depending on how you transcribe it. It means having a snack, nothing big. In German it becomes even clearer. Nash would be naschen ...
