This is my favorite from the first 3. Everything seemed to work. I remember reading Paul say the intro to ANYTHING FOR MY BABY was stolen from The Nazz's OPEN MY EYES. Paul also said the music of The Raspberries also was a huge influence on his songwriting. He told Eric Carmen he wanted KISS to be just like them. I even love the album art. It was more shocking to see them in suits than without make up. Jeff I agree with you, the intro to ROCK BOTTOM is possibly the most beautiful thing Ace ever created.
Killer video bro! I will disagree with you on the musicianship of the band, I think they’re all very underrated, and of course the songs are what are most important! Great job brother 👍🤘🤘
What do I think of DTK? Well sir, I rather like it. Quite a bit actually! HTH and DTK back to back are a fantastic combo. I was thinking when you were talking about Ace being the best musician and everything, it made me think of how underrated Gene is as a bass player. Listen to a lot of the bass lines on this album alone. He’s very Paul McCartney like in his playing on the earlier albums. This album probably has Peter’s best drumming. This was the second Kiss album I bought as a kid. Ended leaving it in the back window of the car when we were coming home from visiting my sister in the upper peninsula of Michigan. That was a sad day. Warped the record. I’ve had it on cassette and cd since. Last year I found an og copy on vinyl so everything is restored. It only took forty some years. Great job with the deep dive. I’ve never seen that performance of She before.🤘🏻
Gene is a fantastic bass player, exhibit A: Love Her All I Can. I’m sure being a huge Beatles fan that he was heavily influenced by Paul McCartney. That breaks my heart about the warped album. I can’t imagine the disappointment as a kid.
It's rare to find an OG copy in decent condition for a decent price. It's funny the album's bookended by the two weakest songs, but the rest are either pretty decent or damn great with the exception of Two-Timer. That was one that never sat well with me. Rock Bottom and She are great songs. Come on and Love Me is a great one, too. I agree it should've been a single.
@@jeffwhitchervinyldestinati4486 that is sad. I had a Neil Young album years ago that got warped when I left it on the floor near windows with no drapes...middle of summer...I was very young then. These days blinds are drawn, records back in covers...this is never happening again
A much better sounding album that the predecessors. ‘Rock Bottom’ and ‘C’mon and Love Me’ are my favorites while ‘She’ and ‘Rock N’ Roll All Nite’ are a very close second. I believe they are becoming a tighter band at this point. The coverage is great as expected. Thx Jeff.
KISS!!!!!!! Love Dressed To Kill. I like it slightly better that HTH. C’mon And Love Me is one of my favorite tunes. They were on fire (literally)…very few bands could match the energy of their live shows at this time!
Friday again , Beers ... nice ,video's I have not seen before ...I cranked this up ,,,And no BS commentary ...great stuff ...I share a birthday with ACE .. when in bands they said your ace of the band ..not really knowing what that meant ..as a drummer ...oh suppose I am an Alien ! as I found out later ...and probably other!! ..few broken noses from South London bars! ..
Cheers bud ,,yeh ...would be fun ..im still in old blighty ..all banned ..of humour ..etc ..in pubs etc ..same as you ..kin ...when streets had punk ..like Knew York ...same ....well we lived ...down the road we go bud ..with same attitude ..but actually nice people ..but banned ! for being honest ..cheers again bud ..im not in London anymore ..my heart breaks ...for what it was ...
I was just playing this album earlier today I still have all my old kiss albums 🥁🥁 I definitely agree with what you said about Ace frehley to me if he wasn't in that band I don't think kiss wouldn't have been as big as they became seriously
Yeah, they might not be Rush, or Boston, but that never stopped AC/DC either. Edit: Listening to "She" again, now that older and know more about playing music, I would say it's every bit as good as "Immigrant Song." Although it may not be as popular. "Love Her All I Can" has always reminded me of "There's Never Been Any Reason" by Head East.
Dude I really dig these videos although I disagree with you on this album I do feel that the first three records show up as well on a live one as they do because there's a uniformity in the writing across all three I don't feel like she as an example is out of place on this record at all but we're both old kiss fans and I enjoy what you're doing
Hi Jeff!!! cool deep dive.... not very familiar with this one and not a huge Kiss fan, but i think "Rock and Roll....." is not a great studio song and maybe that's why it wasn't a success back in the day. cheers and be well
She is such a masterpiece

Thanks George! I think Kiss definitely were transparent about their influences. They loved some of the same 60’s and 70’s bands I do.

My 2 favorite Kiss studio albums are Dressed to Kill and Rock and Roll Over.
This is the tour when i first saw Kiss in concert. Festival seating and i worked my way in front of Gene. Good concert

Totally agree on Gene’s playing, his playing on Strutter is very cool. My Beatles/ELP/ Yes friends used to laugh when I mentioned his playing.
@@jamesnicholas7180 Oh I’m sure they did! People are snobs when it comes to Kiss.

Thank you. The production is much cleaner and clearer than Hotter Than Hell and probably my favorite of the first three albums.
Ty for this series bro
You are welcome!
That day they wore the suits around NYC is also known as the greatest day in history.
what i always liked about this Album was how there guitars sounded very clear and melodic ..
Best sounding and best of first 3 imo
KISS!!!!!!! Love Dressed To Kill. I like it slightly better that HTH. C’mon And Love Me is one of my favorite tunes. They were on fire (literally)…very few bands could match the energy of their live shows at this time!
No one was more entertaining than Kiss live!
Excellent series...The review here is longer than the album is.
She is one of my top 5
A bonafide classic

I love Peter’s smoky Rod Stewart voice on Getaway. Perfect fit! His drumming on this album is awesome and I think at its peak.
Yes, probably my favorite Peter album too.
Ladies in Waiting has a great punk rock chop to it.
How about a deep dive of Grand Funk Railroad ???
Masterpiece

They were never the same band after he left, makeup or not.
@@jeffwhitchervinyldestinati4486 yeah you right about that Ace was the heart and soul of Kl⚡⚡
Hell yeah I love this brother
Thank you bro
Awesome
You are right scour love her all I can
Gene favorite topic 😂😂😂😂
I think C’mon and love me is perfect and I wouldn’t change anything about it! 👍🤘🤘
Not even adding a horn section or strings?
@@jeffwhitchervinyldestinati4486 haha!! Ok maybe a ukulele 🤘🤘

Thanks. I am the furthest thing from a Kiss expert so I appreciate your perspective. As long as we agree Kiss are a fantastic band!

Really good band???🤔
Thanks for NOT playing the best and final song on the album 😡
They did at the beginning
You mean Rock Bottom?
I love She but Aces solo is a total rip off from the Doors Robbie Krieger 5 to 1. All in all a decent Kiss album.
Hmmm...gotta hear that one again.
God, these songs S.U.C.K !!
LOL, Alot better than T. S
