We sang this in high school choir I believe around 2007 or so and this brought tears to my eyes reliving it through y'all 🥲 thanks for sharing. What an amazing piece. I was blessed to sing with Stroope in the 2008 men's choir and he was an amazing director.
My highschool's competition mixed choir did this for a competition in San Antonio (it was a mixture of varsity and non-varsity kids who wanted to go on the trip) The Varsity treble and JV choirs had 2 weeks to learn this and Frank Ticheli's Earth Song this was by far my favorite song to perform You guys did it beautifully
Basically... A mix of the following words. Chadite (murder), vexate (harass), ligate vinculis (bind into chains) Condemnate (I forgot what this one means exactly, but "condemn" is right in there) Saul is the name of a biblical figure Then in the second part, everything is in English. Why do you persecute me? Fall down Saul, fall down on your knees, turn hatred into love. Turn darkness into light. Bow down, Saul, bow down. Saul (repeated long notes) Sorry if you're totally uninterested nowadays, I absolutely adored learning and performing this song with my choir
I wasn't crazy about it specifically for some stylistic choices they made, and some golden moments they missed in some of the key parts of the piece. This is not the choirs fault, as they did a phenomenal job, but this is definitely one of those pieces that many people have a particular version they like to hear.
Caedite, vexate, ligate, vinculis! Saul! Saul! Condemnate! Caedite, vexate, ligate, vinculis! Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me ? Why, why, why ? Fall down on your knees, turn hatred into love. Turn darkness into light. Bow down, Saul! Bow down, Saul! Saul, Saul, Saul.
Very nice but I'm sorry America, there's an African choir that sings this song way way better.. Listen to Stellenbosch University choir from South Africa. I love America though

There's no rush there, that's how the music is written...
impressive too, it's hard not to rush this song 😂
You guys are so in tune multiple overtones are being thrown left and right it's amazing ! Speacilly in the stagnant pitches !
Wonderfully done. My choir sung this for our fall concert. I love this piece so much(:
Out of the many choir pieces ive hear and performed, this is one of my favorites. so powerful and beautiful
Wow this was amazing! The top choir at my high school is singing this song and they do it great! Love this song!!!
our concert choir of Medford WI got to perform this piece in the basilica of St. Louis. the sound was amazing with about a six second reverb
I had the pleasure of singing this song for my high school Region. This is a great performance.
Every time they stomp their feet, I get chills! :D Breath-taking performance! And great stagger breathing at 1:18
I sang this in High School! We always won first place in competitions and I miss singing in choirs!!

This is so beautiful
Very stunning choir! Great!
NHK合唱コンクールで去年は須賀川二中が、今年は会津若松二中が歌っていた。両方とも負けず劣らずの迫力で忘れない曲になった。
Chills, this is excellent!
I tear up everytime I hear this :)
❤❤❤
I am working on this with my high school. Such fun work!
Maddie Jorgensen did this in high school 5 years ago and am still so moved by it. It was a journey 🙀
Why the rush? On the large "Saul" chords before "why do you persecute" , let those thick , juicy chords ring out!
Ben Sabet read the sheet music....it's written that way....
Dannie Coffey artistic liberty
Its written that way, its a very fast song and the "long" notes dont last as long as people think they would.
Love how the background voices are literally just like “KILL HIM”
Can someone provide me with the lyrics please
great job, a very difficult piece. you might want to post the lyrics and translation.
Does anyone can give lyrics to this ?
Thank you very much !

Fits well with a Veijo Tromis compilation.
Very good...

Who would dislike this ?

中3の時歌ったな。
懐かしい笑
Great performance, but after hearing my choir singing it I feel like this one is 1.25x speed xD
I feel like this one is x2 speed!
I'm sure you guys never heard SLU Glee Club sing this its the best from the philippines
Lyrics?
Caedite, vexate, ligate, vinculis! Saul! Saul!
Condemnate!
Caedite, vexate, ligate, vinculis! Saul! Saul!
Why do you persecute me ?
Why, why, why ?
Fall down on your knees, turn hatred into love.
Turn darkness into light.
Bow down, Saul! Bow down, Saul!
Saul, Saul, Saul.
The Passion I saw from Stellenbosch I missed it here. Great piece but it only lacked the passion.
nice perform :)
Sorry stellenbosch choir people I enjoy the all-eastern group choir better
But don't let this mess the piece up for you
I like everyone
It needs strong bases
Too fast.

Siviwe Njajula YAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZ THEIR PERFORMANCE IS WAYYYY BETTER AND MORE PASSIONATE 😊
Histrionics do not emotion convey. Showbiz techniques are distracting from the music here.
@@kimoler1 I totally agree with you! Their performance lacks the spirit of the composition itself!
