Thank you so much (from the bottom of my heart) for doing such a detailed video. You should never have to apologize for saying anything on your videos. Some of us appreciate all of the time and effort it takes to explain what you’re doing. On top of that, thank you for literally going step by step and not fast forwarding to the end. The amount of a-ha moments I had during this video is astounding. I’ve been doing hair for 16 years, and you can never stop learning. Thank you sooo much for being you.

Thank you so much for this comment! It really means so much.... it’s kind of crazy how irritated people can get about the info I go over, pricing, explaining or whatever, so it really is nice to know that you guys for the most part appreciate it and find value in everything thru the video. Thank you so much for watching and giving me your support! It really means the most!

Charge your worth girl!! I just started charging hourly and it’s amazing! People I think don’t realize sometimes that we have families and bills to pay, and dreams that we’d like to achieve one day too. No one ever questions a tattoo artist when getting a tattoo and buying their art! Hair is a luxury service, especially colors that take hours and hours to do!

I would consider this color a "mushroomy brown". It's my favorite shade. I'm full on obsessed with it and I have been to three different hairstylist and no one can achieve this color for me ever, so I started doing it myself. (I know, not the best, practice.) but that said, I appreciate you taking time to educate on pricing structure and why it might cost a certain amount. So many different hair types, textures, thickness, and level of hair health factor into your job, and usually you also have to deal with major color corrections during the process too. On top of that, you must be always continuing education as products emerge, styles & trends change or evolve and stylist have to not only keep up and learn these new techniques, but also remain sharp on the basics and fundamentals too! So much effort behind the chair is involved. (commenting on my work account lol) Thanks! This clients hair is my dream hair and color and you did phenomenal!!

People are always trying to get Instagram hair for $100. Nothing is free. The shipping to get some of the products shipped to us, because local stores can't stay stocked, is also a cost, plus our booth rent. They have no idea. We're not working for Minimum wage. We've spent 10's of thousands on education, and licensure, most of us. Your work was worth every penny. She had a ton of hair. I also remind the foilyage rooted clients that they have the convenience of a soft, natural-looking grow-out and don't have to come in but every 6-8 months. (If they are extra cool or icy, they may need a toner refresh every 6 weeks) That's not a ton to spend on your HAIR when you consider what they drop for nails, lashes, and Botox. The ash panic is real. LOL. I had a client last week I was SURE it would look green. It turned out perfect, but still...the oxidation process is scary as hell, sometimes. It's more of a neutral beigey caramel. Anyway, you're amazing.

You are a professional. You paid for your schooling, studying, early morning, late nights, License, etc. I’m a stylist and I love what I do I see your skills and your work is fabulous. When I thought what the company charged was pricy my manager once said to not sell myself short not exactly in those words but that’s how I took it. Like people say time is money. Better to get it done right then come back to do color correction.😂

That blend from roots to mids is *mwah* it's so darn good. Also I love they way you planed out this look. You did the occipital bone and below first for brightness. Jump to the interior for mid brightness and did the crest last for overall subtle brightness. I can't wait to be able to think quick on my feet like this when I color hair. You're worth every dollar!!!

When I teach my students about saturation in our blonding class I tell them to think of it like a high end bakery: if you're spending 12 bucks on a cupcake there better be plenty of frosting on that cupcake! So as I'm watching them I keep coaching and asking them if they are decorating a grocery store cupcake or a fancy cupcake and it keeps them on point

    • @rain3743

Yesss, in today’s climate I’ll just speak for myself but, when I’m lied to left right and center on a daily basis by so much of the msm by everyone that’s not supposed to lie, I find myself always thirsty for the truth and real people and Kristy quenches my thirst I think and I get that fix I need when i seek for truth and I get a sense that I know I can trust her and for me that’s important , for whatever reason it is and it matters, even at a hair salon but especially at a hair salon ! About price -Only someone that cannot appreciate this very valuable service she offers, unfortunately will also never appreciate it if in fact they don’t agree w the pricing, imo. And that’s ok because some ppl are perfectly satisfied w a mediocre job on their hair, everyone is different and when we stay in our lane we’re happier in my experience.

I am so happy to have found this amazing video that has finally given me the confidence to tackle this. I've done my own cut and color for many many years but with the amt of gray I have now, I've decided to go with lighter blonde shaddowed roots and highlights. I've been researching all the new techniques and products including the use of a toner/gloss for the first time. I've learned so much from you and seeing how to do this degree of highlighting on yourself, is exactly what I needed to get this party started.Thank you so much for all your help, you are amazing.
PS this was supposed to be under your video where you showed you doing your own highlights but somehow the video switched.

I own a carpet cleaning business and I have had customers complain about pricing too and I get frustrated lol. I’m a professional. You’re paying for a service! And you’re paying for the years of knowledge and technique and equipment plus labor. Sure you can rent a rug doctor for $99 but it doesn’t heat the water up to 250-300 degrees with 15 psi of suction power to suck out all the soil and water 🤷‍♀️ you’re getting what you pay for! I hate that the service industry is the only industry that people feel that they can haggle prices. You don’t go to a department store and haggle price on that new pair of shoes you want…there I ranted along with you😂! you’re a true professional and this final look is stunning. I watched all the way through! ❤️ new sub for sure

Thanks for such detailed information through ( throughout lol ) the whole video . 2 questions for you . Applying the front before the back crown section ..... does that lift up more first ? Or is it’s fresher bleach mix that balances it out . Also which curling iron do you have ? I’ve seen someone else ask , I saw in another video you said they were a Christmas gift but I still couldn’t find out the brand . Btw your expertise is worth every bit of what you charge . I find long haired clients don’t always realise how much more product along with the time it takes and there’s a cost to that . Thanks again from london xxx

I’ve had a Schwarzkopf educator tell me to not mix as much developer, so I do 1:1.5 and it actually doesn’t swell as bad.

Yes! That's correct. Just a bit of water really helps! I mix to consistency and don't measure.....

Came out beautiful! I’m going to utilize some of these techniques! Also when in doubt just add a little gold into the formula so it’ll help save you for when you have that “oh shit” moment while toning :) I work with a lot of dark hair it usually is a life saver! But awesome video 😎

I watched the whole thing. At my salon I am am employee that makes commision. I always charge per the head I am working on. My salins prices to.me arent set in stone. Some people get a 240$ balayahe and some.others get a 300 or 350$ balayage. And most of my thick haired clients are 350 and take 6 hours. And I change the prices to what I know it should be in the clients ticket. Our extra bowls only cost 10$ and i am shocked at that. If i am working in someone for 6 hours and only go by the regular price I'll be homeless with bad feet. Lol. Besides I always educate myself so I can do better and give the client what they want! You go kristi! Thanks for educating us all constantly!

Oh that turned out so beautiful! I’m very dark and no matter what I use on myself I get brassy orange! Can you tell us what would compare to the Schorksoff toners in let’s say Clairol, or L’Oréal professional lines?

This came out so great! Good job! I still get those panic moments when the toner seems to be too dark, too light, too ash, too warm!!! Ugh! The panic is real but using a clarifier is a great tool in case we need to adjust. Most of the time it all comes out beautiful!

I find with hairdressers, you get what you pay for. I pay around £200 here in the UK for a colour service, and she’s amazing. Worth every penny.
Also, what I actually came here for was to say, Millennial here with a centre part 💁🏻‍♀️ 😂😂

For the styling, what would you do differently if someone’s hair didn’t hold curls well?

    • @hairbykristijennings6648
      @hairbykristijennings6648  3 года назад

Mouse, gel, hairspray..... if all that didn't work, then just straight probably. But I still usually just curl regardless.

Another thing, the price is worth it when you have a passion in your job. And are very good at what you are doing, to me it’s totally worth it. Now people that just do hair and don’t care and not good at their job,, I wouldn’t pay that much.
