I can justify using an apsc camera instead of a full-frame camera by the ability to use smaller, lighter and less expensive apsc lenses. A Sony a6700 with the 11 mm f1.8 lens would be ideal for hiking and backpacking as well as a Viltrox 27 mm f1.2 for street and travel.
@@evenatienzaartthe a6700 is literally an a7cr with the sensor cut to a smaller size. They actully use the same silicon and yes thats why the apsc crop on the a7cr has the exact same number of pixels as the a6700
There is more and more lenses for full frame being released that are compact and inexpensive. There is always a valid reason to go for one over the other but for me I found that with all the lenses available for the Sony FF system I have no reason to go for APSC only for the size difference
I considered the Canon R8. It's the lightest full frame, has a great EVF and LCD, and I thought it would be more fun to shoot with. Your videos make me love A7cii.
The A7CII is such a all-rounder and the size is just perfect for travel. I've considered just selling all my gear and getting a A7CII, couple of lenses and call it a day 😂
@@pcphotography9108 Currently I have the Sony 28mm f2, Sony 50mm f/1.8 , Sony 85mm 1.8 and the Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 . For now the A7C is all I need. It does everything I need it to. Im always buying and selling stuff so maybe the II in the future! The ONLY thing that would motivate me to buy the III version is being able to crop with 9 more MP but its not essential. Just a “Would be nice” kind of thing. Its still quite expensive on the used market so maybe in like 2 years. I dont need the latest greatest stuff im usually a few years behind. 👌🏽 * selling the 85mm now since I dont use it much.
i just bought my first full frame and it’s the a7c m1! budget for the m2 is steep but hey they look the same! you inspired me to be into street photography ever since i sub on your channel. Great work as always, Adrien!
Salut Adrien. Quick question, in one of your video about the GR3 you said that it is an absolute gem when it comes to editing in Lightroom (and i totally agree, you can really get what you want from the raw file). I have an old Nex5 which is the only Sony I ever had, and it is not la meme sauce… Too much red and very much less flexibility. What about the A7C II ? Is it as great as the GR3 in Lightroom ? Thanks for your answer, and also your great vids and pictures and inspiration.
Bought an A7C in Namdaemun Seoul for $900 a couple years ago and it has English menus. Absolutely love it. Its fun to shoot, compact, pleasing to look at and has excellent image quality and tech. Its definitely my favorite camera so far and Ive owned many. I also tried Fuji but didnt like it much.
EFCS only really matters when I am shooting 1/4000th and higher it becomes noticeable, and in some cases it's not actually too bad depending on the bokeh. There's a video by Magic Wedding Photographer that explained it really well. I keep EFCS on 99% of the time and only turn it off if I am shooting my 1.4 prime wide open in a lot of daylight and want my bokeh "smoother". EFCS is also great for extending the life of your shutter!
Your videos really persuaded me into getting an A7CII. It’s really a fun camera. I shoot without the LCD and just use the EVF kind of like an X-Pro 3 and it’s been really fun. Excited to try video with it as well, something I was never confident in with my Fujis
I only shoot wide open on very fast lenses, I don't know why but I was always into bokeh, even 15 years ago when I started my photography journey, tha's one of the reasons why i cannot use the compact cameras everybody is raving about. I would love to replace my S5ii with a X100VI or a leica but nobody makes a compact with a f1.2 lens like my voigtlander 40mm f1.2 nokton aspherical so it is what it is. I am constantly forced to shoot at 1/8000 and yes i've seen the tests for a7cii, for others people like me my advice is to check tests and really take this into consideration...
Hey Adrien I love your videos, just wanted to ask have you ever had hot pixels on your Sony cameras and how have you dealt with them, is pixel mapping a fix for those brightly coloured spots?
When the Sony A7CII and A7CR was announced, I was close to buy one, because I like the design with the EVF in the corner ! But I do a lot of manual focusing, so I need an excellent EVF and a joystick which the A7CII/a7CR do not have ! Maybe it will come in A7CIII/A7CRII. A bit negative now is that A7CII is more expensive than A7IV and A7CR is more expensive than A7RV, so you get less, but pay more !
You are right. Buy camera that fits your style of photography not for the specs, hype, etc. Secondly. It is true, Japanese cameras don't have English or any European languages. I realized this first hand when I got orange Lumix GM1. Well at least I like the color 😂
Hey, where can I see the photos featured in this video? Do you have Flickr? I dislike Insta as on mobile photos are way too small and desktop version sucks too.
I've found with my a7CR that when comparing with my phone/monitor the evf actually seems to be more accurate compared to the lcd which seems too red/magenta and unfortunately can't be adjusted.
These things at 5:27 are called "wrist strap", and a really popular one is "Peak Design Cuff". I'm not really sure which exact one is used at 5:27, but you'll be able to find one you like on websites like Amazon and similar.
This is definitely not helped by just how much bigger the a7iv is compared to the a7iii. I have the a7c and I dislike its evf (A LOT), and so I went to the camera store to try out the a7iv, and it felt like a massive camera that doesn’t fit my hands. Can’t see myself buying an a7iv at all, and nothing in this series unless they make it smaller again.
@ I don’t know, it doesn’t have any protection against the sun, and when I’m shooting outside with my a7c I basically have no good options. The evf doesn’t block the sun and the screen is not bright enough. I doubt the a7c ii would solve that.
It doesn't fit everyone's tastes and that's the way it is. It's good to have a competitive market that can offer different solutions for different needs ;)
@ I think the size of the body itself is perfect. The evf however is highly compromised. I would take a better evf on the same body even if it made the body slightly larger

So, the a7cr may be the ideal but expensive solution since it can provide not only a full-frame image but also a 26 megapixel image in apsc mode.

Thanks for the attention to detail! From someone considering the ACII as Black Friday approaches, hehe.
You absolutely right. It’s an incredible camera with very little compromise in real world shooting environments. I love mine!
How do you set the focus while using the evf? The lack of a joystick seems the biggest drawback

The battery life is terrible compare to FZ100, as a Sony user, I can't stand R8 for more than a week
great pictures as always. start adding chapters!

Great video! Also for those of you who care, you can get your shutter speed to 1/8000 on the A7Cii by using electronic shutter speed!
Thanks for your comment and pointing this out ;)
Fuji has a setting that if you need a faster shutter speed, it will automatically switch to the electronic shutter and I wish Sony would add that.
Haha 8000😂 my camera can get much higher than this

I really wish full frame had the Sigma 10-18mm f2.8 equivalent, that lens is so freaking small I love it.
It actually covers full frame from about 14mm on
Well, there is the Sigma 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN C, which is only 450g / 15.9oz. and pretty compact. The IQ and AF are pretty decent, too.
Yeah that would be awesome
Great video. Just got the a7CII and the 20-70mm f/4 G. Have you tried de Sony 40mm f/2.5 prime? I noticed you use the 35mm 2.8 zeiss
Thanks, yes I have briefly tried the 40mm, a great lens but very close to my 35mm so I think I will not buy it ;)
Love my cii. Great size, performance, versatility. Works fantastic w sigma 24-70 art v2. My zeiss 35mm 2.8 lives on it otherwise.

Nice thanks adrien! Personally I have the a6000, Sony’s smallest aps-c (with an EVF). Thought about upgrading to a6500 but love the form factor!

Yes, and some other brands also have the same practice.
It depends on the brand so be careful ;)

Because it's his choice, what's suit him the best
Actually, you can tweak your Sony camera from Japan so it can use English menu.
