I have so much respect for Halford. He has said on multiple occasions how Dio is such an inspiration. Halford is a very humble man who, if he wanted to, could be a huge dick about his talent. Instead, he feels honored to sing a song by another artist. Dio and Halford are the metal gods.
I was lucky enough to be at this show in 1992 at Pacific Amphitheater. The Sunday show that had the original 4 Sabbath members reunite for 4 songs after Ozzy's alleged Last Performance.. Halford stepped in cuz Dio was pissed off about the reunion and quit the band.
Awesome to see a God covering for a God, and a friend for a friend. RIP Ronnie. What I would give to see Dio or Halford with Sabbath. Those were some lucky bastards that saw this show.
Glad to read your opinion :) I prefer Dio over Ozzy, but still I think Rob has the best voice for this particular tune. I must say Dio was awesome in Iron Man and even better in Neon Knights :D
Ozzy sounds evil Dio sounds with great control of his great voice and Rob does just what he can do best defending his name as the singer with greatest vocal range and you know what? THERE ALL GREAT!!!!!! AND ALL METAL GODS!!!!!
When and Where? What an incredibly cool thing... to listen to classic metal performers pay respect to their contemporaries and peers. Can you imagine a concert series with the best of 80's bands sharing each other s music like we're seeing here? How freaking absurdly awesome would that be?
This is great!I can't believe I stumbled on this.I had actualy had just been wondering if this had been done with Rob and how it would sound. It's better than I imagined.\m/
Ronnie James Dio and Rob Halford are equally great in their own respects. I love the way Halford sings Heaven and Hell, it's a much different take on it, but I agree it was much better with Dio. That's just because the two have rather different singing styles. Halford is more harsh and belting, where Dio is more melodical. You gotta respect the man for doing his best though ;D Respect the Metal Gods Dio Ozzy Halford peace
@@trobertw Don't trip, dude. Rob is a bad-ass, no doubt. That being said, it is a fully different approach to this song, Dio is so gutteral and Rob is very throaty, Dio from the diaphragm and Rob from the neck. I have seen Rob do other Sabbath as well, and though not really his style, he goes after it like a pro and he MEANS IT WHEN HE DOES. I have nothing but respect for Halford, including the TWO, FIGHT, and HALFORD recordings. For the record, I think the appearance with SKIDROW was kick-ass & FULLY in his wheelhouse, whereas the BLACK SABBATH stuff not quite as much, but like I said before, whatever he is singing, HE MEANS IT!
Nice post BryanDevilHunter. I like Priest and Sabbath so this was diferrent. Very good my friend. Jim. I saw Judas Priest in the late 70's w/UFO. No Contest.
Dickinson is my favorite vocalist of all time, but damn it man Dio and Halford deserve just as much respect, they have done just as much for Metal and are equal in every way.
was at this show andit was treat to see rob singin with sabbath we had a blast and he had full respect and did not try to own the songs just came out and did them nice
Stop comparing this singer to that singer. They are all great; Halford, Dio, Osbourne, all of them. Love the music and carry the torch the pass on for us. Long live metal. P.S. After 30 years these songs and the bands still KICK ASS!!
This guy is just METAL GOD .... anyone who likes music, who likes good metal, loves this guy!! nobody can deny His voice is amaizing.. (sorry 4 my bad english) Ronnie James .. RIP
That's funny! I was at the second show on Nov 15 in Costa Mesa and the way I remember it (which was the same set for both nights) was a not too well known band at the time, Sepultura opened the show! Then came Black Judas Sabbath, then Ozzy, then the "reunion" thing. Remember it like it was yesterday!
HOLY EF! I was listening to this thinking it was Rob with other musicians!! I wasn't watching the video!!! It was my hero, Frank Iommi playing!! I thought it sounded TOO GOOD to be anybody else! Tony and Geezer ...... my heroes.
SMF81 i completely agree with that! gotta love dee snider! first gig i ever went to see. TS with alice cooper! awesome show :D this vid is pretty cool! its always so wierd hearing a song you know so well with a different voice to it but its good in a new way :D
@peaceandmetal88 a buddy of mine was there, in Costa Mesa, Ca, i was fortunate enough to him sing for Sabbath at Ozzfest in Camden, NJ, in 2004, if my memory is correct on the year......
saw this show nov. 15, 92. yup, costa mesa. the 75 bucks for the ticket was more than worth it! a bit disappointed that Dio wasn't there.(waited 10 years to see THAT), but halford was the ONLY one who could have pulled that off. in fact, memory tells me this set blew away the "reunion" set they did with ozzy that night! this was a fucking historic night!!! even still got the t shirt! if you were there, you know what i mean. awesome show!
Yeah, indeed he did. I was talking about Ozzy as a singer, not as a frontman :P But yeah, he actually brought that evil dark part. Tony also brought evilness with his heavy riffs, slow riffs.
Maybe the best version i've heard Although I am -a bit- of a Dio fan as well, I could surely live without those whiney and anoying "mmmhhh"& "yeaaahh" he likes to (over)do in live perfomances ;) Also the energy of the whole concert is awesome. Love to see Geezer and Iommi with big smiles painted on their faces. They are having fun and this is reflected to the whole perfomance.
@metal4life68 its also important to note that Sharon's Father, an owner of the record company, helped make the two happen so that Ozz wouldnt totally destroy himself. She's not his wife because she leaves him, she was his babysitter because her father paid her to.
Theres a lot being said about what people think about priest and sabbath (both awesome bands by the way, and as good as eachother in their own way, i personally like priest more) and not much about what i think to be an aamzing vocal perforance from rob, tony and company. wicked video
@jgrahamwireless close, but not quite. this was from Costa Mesa in November 92. Dio refused to play the two shows and share the stage with ozzy-clown, so they had Halford fill in. The Ozzfest thing came later, like 02,03...somewhere around there...and they DIDN'T do any Dio stuff at Ozzfest.
@Metallian Dio's contract was also ended the day before the shows. As a Dio fan Im happy he didn't open for a Ozzy. Sabbath with Dio should never open for Ozzy. Ozzy should open for them!!!!
Now that Ronnie is gone (Rest his Soul) if Heaven and Hell ever decided to still tour Halford would be the perfect choice, what better way to compliment the Godfather of Metal with a Metal God. It would be a true tribute to Ronnie.
HALFORD voice is like a weapon. Power range any live show with him at vocals will kick ass. Truly the metal god!!!!
One of Three metal gods, Dio, Halford, and Dickinson. No one else.
@@matthewdean7653 The only difference is Halford can sing for any of the 3 bands Dio and Bruce wouldn't work with Priest.
I have so much respect for Halford. He has said on multiple occasions how Dio is such an inspiration. Halford is a very humble man who, if he wanted to, could be a huge dick about his talent. Instead, he feels honored to sing a song by another artist. Dio and Halford are the metal gods.
I love the original Dio version & I love this one They both ROCK !
Halford, the master of heavy metal !
This is fantastic...........love seeing Toni hit the crowd with those riffs..........Rob sounds very, very good.....WOW what a line up!
Considering Rob only had one rehearsal with the band before the show, I'd say he did really well.
Sweet. Rob's voice took an Epic song to a whole new level of awesomeness
Dio and Halford's voices are made for metal. Bruce could sing whatever he wants, were just blessed that its metal.
Shivers.. Best version of heaven and hell I have heard in a while.
The metal God covering the one of the best metal songs ever. It be an amazing team up with RJD were side by side singing with him.
Metal God!
Sorry, Lemmy overrules that titles
+Supremacy962 yet he failed to be immortal
Dio is dio , but come on halford kill it in this one
irivera yup absolutely
haford the best vocal ever!!!!
Halford is one of the sharpest knives in the drawer when it comes to singing.
I remember they also played Sweet Leaf , and Sepultura was the opening band.
Was it good sound live there?
and this is why he is the Metal God!
As much as I love the Dio era of Sabbath, this was the coolest thing I've ever seen
Great tribute, rob always sings good tributes. It was Rob of course is amazing.
if anyone can sing H and H other than DIO, this is the one....Greatly done!
whoever took this video deserves a place in heaven
Brilliant clip, thanx for sharing \m/
It must have been a wicked show...
Awesome to see a God covering for a God, and a friend for a friend. RIP Ronnie. What I would give to see Dio or Halford with Sabbath. Those were some lucky bastards that saw this show.
Co za wykonanie. Bóg w akcji. Wyniósł swym głosem ten utwór do kosmicznej potęgi.
damn
imagine
bruce, rob, and dio
singing this song on the same stage
Rob's demonic voice fits perfectly. Heaven and hell is such an atmospheric metal song, I'm floating away. I can't describe how epic this is...
One of the best Metal songs of all time.
Cool video! Rob's voice can make many songs amazingly good!!
I love how he said heaven and hell just like he says diamonds and rust with that little pause.
Glad to read your opinion :) I prefer Dio over Ozzy, but still I think Rob has the best voice for this particular tune. I must say Dio was awesome in Iron Man and even better in Neon Knights :D

DIOS HACIENDO COVER A DIOS! INCREIBLE!
amazing this song is in perfect key for halford he fokin nailed it!

Halford does plenty of Justice to this song, even if I can barely hear him here this ain't a cover but an original..
Too bad this didn't become a long term gig with a few albums. Would LOVE to hear some new Sabbath material with Halford.
SMF81 i completely agree with that! gotta love dee snider! first gig i ever went to see. TS with alice cooper! awesome show :D
this vid is pretty cool! its always so wierd hearing a song you know so well with a different voice to it but its good in a new way :D
I think whatever heavy metal song Halford, Dio, Dickinson, Ian Gillan sing, they will sound great. NO ONE can sing better than them.
The scream at the end of Aces High or those F#5's In where eagles dare live in Hammersmith are pretty good
Brilliant just Brilliant.
