    IP over DVB-2 have been tested IRL in rural areas of India to give a speed of 50 Mbps! I propose the USA make the right internet access a basic human right as an example to all? Hell even 15 Mbps free over ATSC 3.0 would be fast enuff for 1080p video...

    You forgot to talk about DRM. You are FORCING people to have internet in order to watch over-the-air TV. I can understand that controlling and collecting as much data from consumers as you can it's financially good for tv networks, it also limit their freedom to record/dvr content. Example is the current ATSC 3.0 hdhomerun gateway, thousands of people who bought the device can't use it due to DRM restrictions.
