Me: *Immediately opens google and searches for flight tickets* Jean: *Showing the Northern Lights* Me: *Looks at vid again and sees Jean showing the whole sky green in Finland and searches for the Igloo Hotel Jean stayed in*
Finland has the least clouds of these places, and this means also less humidity and wind. Cold itself is not bad, humid wind makes it a killer. The best weather to spot auroras is bitter cold high pressure when there's no wind, not that uncommon in Lapland. You might ask why? Well, Scandinavian mountains that are in Norway and Sweden blocks the moist Atlantic weather. On spring there's even some clear days with warm but dry Föhn wind coming from west.
I believe what you're saying is probably true as a general basis, but my experience was the opposite: I was in the Finnish Lapland for 8 days and was unable to see the Aurora because it was cloudy every day. On the other hand, the white landscapes, completely covered in snow, were among the most incredible things I've seen in my life, so I think they do get a lot of clouds and snow anyway
I went to Tromsø for a few days back in November and I was fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights after driving out an hour away with a crew assembled at the hostel I was staying at. It's honestly one of the most magical pieces of nature that I've ever seen.
Not sure why no one has done it, but someone should open a hotel outside Tromsø for tourist who want to watch the auroras. Light pollution from the city makes it hard to see sometimes.
@@politicallycorrectredskin796 You could go to other places, like Alta, which is much smaller than Tromsø, so less light pollution. There you can get a combination of the Tromsø and Ivalo experience, with the fjord, dog sledding and the ice hotel. It is even further north than Tromsø. There is this place called Gargia Lodge, which is in the middle of nowhere. When I was there we were picked up by snowmobiles at the road and then we had a ride to the Lodge.
So superbly shot and edited! That landing in Tromø was incredible and I liked that tiny hotel, but I think out of the three I prefer the Igloo in Lapland.
I flew from Los Angeles (where I live) to Tromsø in February of 2020 for my birthday. The night we arrived it was very clear and perfect for Northern lights viewing. The index predicted a strong Northern Light show and so we waited and waited, eventually turning in for the night because we had spent the last 24 hours traveling and we were exhausted.. The next day we overheard people talking about the amazing northern lights show that appeared late last night. The northern lights appeared very strongly over the city and lasted for an hour. I was crushed. I missed it and the weather for my remaining time in Tromsø was snowy so I missed my chance. We did have plans to go further into the country and possibly into Finland but the snow storm destroyed those plans. Your video has given me new hope! Maybe Lapland for my next trip! Great video!
That sounds frustrating! I think best way is to use the app that tracks aurora, it's pretty accurate and makes it easier find the exact best time to go out and see it

Besides the beautiful places and sights you went to and seen, I love the fact that you were travelling with your parents and they're also having a wonderful time with you! This makes me really want to go to these places especially the Blue Lagoon!
The blue lagoon is a tourist trap. It used to be free to go there for everyone, and then some smartass put a building there and demands a very pricey entrance fee!
Great video Jean!! I like how you paired each country together with travelling, hotels, things to do and the northern lights rather than going through everything for each country one by one. My wife and I visited Kakslauttanen twice, once back in Oct 2017 (didn't see the aurora) then again in March 2018 and saw them all 3 nights we were there. We stayed in the Kelo-Glass Igloo on both occasions as well. I love that place; half-board included with amazing food and the staff was super friendly. Glad you liked visiting there! We are heading to Tromso and Lyngen North March 2023, hoping to see another spectacular Northern Lights show! Thanks for the great video!
Tromso has an incredible nightlife with loads of cafes restaurants and pubs, don't know why you are giving the impression that it hasn't. You can also do Husky sledging there. The problem with Iceland on top of the reasons you said is that if it is cloudy there aren't many places to go to find better weather as your on an island. But in Norway and Finland you got bigger areas to maneuver to find clearer weather.
I went to Iceland for 2 full nights only, and the lights appeared on my second night! Absolutely breathtaking, and I want to see them again hopefully in Norway. Everyone should see them at least once in their lives 💚
