I can't wait to see what my 40s brings.
Thank you so much Cecilia for showing us the sky. Please do it again any time you want to and as many times as you want to. I know I will never get bored with watching something that beautiful.
Happy birthdays, Cecilia and Christoffer! I had my 70th birthday this week, and I agree with you completely about the advantages of growing older. Each decade has been better than the prior one. My mental, emotional, and spiritual health have matured and grown as the years passed. Keeping one's physical health in tip-top form is an important part of fully enjoying one's advanced years. I still ski and hike, and I still enjoy the beauties of nature every day. You're on the right path; keep it up!
This is my first time watching your channel, and I'm in love with Svalbard. I live on the east coast of North Carolina, but would pack my bags in a minute to move. So peaceful and beautiful. Both the community and you.
I am an Indian and have never experienced the snow. I would like to visit Norway or Svalbard once in my life. I love watching your videos; it makes me somewhat experience how life must be there.
My maternal grandmother grew up speaking Swedish and my maternal grandfather grew up speaking German. Like you mentioned, we have always celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. We would go to 5pm church service, come home and eat Christmas dinner, then open family gifts. Some years we’ve also attended the 10pm candlelight Christmas Eve church service. Santa Claus would come after we went to sleep Christmas Eve. We would then open our gifts from Santa on Christmas Day. The best part, we didn’t have to wait for our parents to wake up on Christmas morning to open Santa gifts.
I think the aging process is such a mystery to younger people. I went through menopause at 34 (Ovarian failure, so post menopausal totally unexpectedly) and thought I would look prematurely old. It didn't happen. I actually looked great in my 40's (best in my life) and was very happy. In my 50's I have even more wisdom and know how to take care of myself better. I will be 60 in February, and know that I will keep trying to better myself. I am so thankful for your very interesting vlogs, Cecilia. Keep reaching for your goals!
I just returned home from three magical weeks on Svalbard. In fact, I was there when you filmed this video (I recognize the position of the moon, Jupiter and Mars). Who knows, I might be the person with the headlamp you saw on top of the mountain. While there, I mentioned to someone that it was like being in a Christmas card come to life. Experiencing polar night, hiking in the snow, seeing the northern lights, drinking tea by the fireplace, dogsledding, snowmobiling -- everything was simply magical. When I want to remember my time there, I'll rewatch your beautiful videos.
Inside the Svalbard Seed Bank RUclips has a video showing the inside of the seed bank. About 8 years ago the manager of the seed bank gave a tour showing all there is to see and explaning how the seed bank works. Really interesting!
I was born with albinism. This is an absence of pigment in the body. I have photophobia and I truly dislike sunny days. The sun burns my skin so I have to apply sunscreen. The sun is so bright for me I have to wear sunglasses when I go out in the day. As much as I know no other way it bugs me. Soooooooo my fictional solution is to move to where you live. I say this because there is no way a senior citizen who is low income and can’t drive due to being legally blind could live there because I hear it’s very costly. But I would love to! When I was born my family lived in Michigan so I used to love the snow. Now I love looking at the snow from a window but I still love snow. Anyway I enjoy your channel.
A second home for Winter time in a region like svalbard would be great for you 😊 But as you mentioned, only one trip there is so expensive 😢 Hope you can enjoy some dark winter days where you live ☺️
Needed that lil age talk. I’m almost 29 and since I turned 26 I’ve been feeling so lost and unsure of what I want in life. Lately, I feel like I’ve been slowly finding my way. What you said gives me hope that I’m on the right path 💖
As someone who lives in Portland, Oregon I love when it gets dark because it rains at least 250 days out of the year. The dreary skies are depressing so I get excited when the sun starts to set 😁

We always opened our gifts on Christmas Eve as well. On December 5 th❣️We have been married 30 Beautiful Years🤗♥️❣️Still going strong both of us❣️❣️We are traveling to Portugal in a few weeks🤗♥️❣️
My German roots are still followed after 5 generations in the US opening 'people gifts' on Christmas eve. However, 'Santa gifts' are still delivered after we go to bed for opening on Christmas morning. I'm 77 and I still get a Santa gift and a stocking, although maybe not stuffed quite as full, but the magic even more wonderful as we age.
Happy belated birthday to you Cecilia and Happy Birthday to Kristopher! I agree, your life really does start to get better at 35 and it truly does get better! Thank you for sharing your day with us! ❤️
I feel like this place should be uninhabited 😭😭. We need sunlight, that’s how we function on this earth lol. It’s truly amazing how there are humans who have adapted to this kind of living! I can’t even fathom, I truly despise daylight savings over here in the states!
Ooohh the best vibes, bright moon, northern lights, the lit cozy village glowing. I love these videos and hope to experience it myself in my lifetime ❤
Nature is beautiful no matter where on earth. I myself live quite far north in Scandinavia and the best thing is the changing seasons. You learn to deal with the darkness too and you know that brighter times are coming.
Found this video randomly in my feed. And I have to say, as cool as this is, I was hit with a huge anxious feeling that I had when I was in Iceland. Its amazingly beautiful where you are, but the darkness mixed with the huge mountains and lack of people around, just makes things feel so isolated. Very remote and untainted, but very secluded. I will keep following because this was an amazing point of view. Thank you for this view inside your world.

I click on the video. Press 👍🏼 then rewind so I can see EVERY SINGLE MINUTE. Truly, I celebrate your life with. Good mental space that inspires me. 🌞
haha I love that! 🙌🏻💗
This is my first time watching your channel, and I'm in love with Svalbard. I live on the east coast of North Carolina, but would pack my bags in a minute to move. So peaceful and beautiful. Both the community and you.
Four months of continual night would be absolute heaven to me. I just couldn't handle the cold. This is a brilliant video...thank you for sharing
My relaxing part of my sundays.....Polar nights with Cecilia. The best!
Watching the northern lights on video is fantastic. Seeing the northern lights in person is a new experience that everyone should have.
I am an Indian and have never experienced the snow. I would like to visit Norway or Svalbard once in my life. I love watching your videos; it makes me somewhat experience how life must be there.
Go Kashmir and enjoy snow
Visit himachal or uttarakhand or J&K
Imagine having to build a town in the dark. Or even over the span of whatever months get light during the year. Insane.
Great video!
Another wonderful video, Cecilia! And...loved your hearfelt farewell (until next week) followed by the magnificent Northern Light show. Thank you. 🙏🙏🙏
I just turned 69. My 20’s were awful.
Happy birthday to the both of you!
Love how relaxing and wholesome this channel is. My dog also loves watching Grim, so this has become our cozy channel we watch before bed 😂❤
You are so warm and human. Always a joy hearing from you. Written after a night time choir rehearsal at church.
The start of the polar nights remind me that Christmas is not far off!
Inside the Svalbard Seed Bank
RUclips has a video showing the inside of the seed bank. About 8 years ago the manager of the seed bank gave a tour showing all there is to see and explaning how the seed bank works. Really interesting!
Such beautiful music in this video! I'm sure the dark gets tiring after a bit, but it looks gorgeous there!
Thanks!
Grim is fabulous! I laughed so hard at the “Post Office Christmas Tree Incident “ 😂😂😂. I love him! xx
always enjoy your videos. Grim is the cutest!
He says thank you! 🐾
The problem is, wherever you have a place like this that is dark for a long time, it is also light for a long time. You get midnight sun here too.
Sending love to you ❤
❤❤❤
A second home for Winter time in a region like svalbard would be great for you 😊
But as you mentioned, only one trip there is so expensive 😢
Hope you can enjoy some dark winter days where you live ☺️
Needed that lil age talk. I’m almost 29 and since I turned 26 I’ve been feeling so lost and unsure of what I want in life. Lately, I feel like I’ve been slowly finding my way. What you said gives me hope that I’m on the right path 💖
As someone who lives in Portland, Oregon I love when it gets dark because it rains at least 250 days out of the year. The dreary skies are depressing so I get excited when the sun starts to set 😁
I absolutely love your time lapse of driving. It gives a small glimpse of everything around you. It’s so beautiful!
I m in depression now.when ur video notification pop up on my phone display I feel so relax.
The light from that full moon is incredible!
Thank you for including the Northern Lights! Sooo beautiful. I hope someday to see that in person.
i have never fallen instantly in love with a channel like i have with yours. first video i"ve watched, and I'm going to pull you up on the big screen and start watching all your stuff. Thank you.
As someone who tries to bring everything into my house from my car in one trip, I really appreciate you walking all the way to your house, knowing you have to go back to get the camera!!!
wow. social media has caused many problems but on the other hand I would have never gotten to see any of this if not for the internet. it's magical to learn about places so different from my own!
Happy Happy Birthday Birthday to both of you 🎂🎂!! ❤️❤️2UU
Ohhhhhh seeing people walk into the seed vault!! Woooooooooo so awesome! Grimm you silly boy, leave that tree alone!! 💙💙💙💙. Happy birthday you two!! 💕
Im from South Florida and right now I’m freezing just watching this video, is amazing to me how people live in places like this, it truly is amazing! I wish you well and many blessings
I'm 52 and happier and more confident than ever! Great things are in store for you!
We always opened our gifts on Christmas Eve as well. I am all Irish from both sides of my family; my grandfather on my mom’s side was born and raised in Ireland🥰🙏🏼💚🍀❣️I will be 80 on December 14 th & my husband will be 95 !
I love how your idea of running errands is mostly visiting beautiful places
3 1/2 yrs. ago i was googling the seed vault and that's how i found cecilia.
I have to compliment you on the music choices that you use in your videos. Thank you for another wonderful, beautiful video.
Happy Birthday to you and Christoffer. May you have many more polar nights adorned with northern lights.
🤣 Grim and the Christmas Tree story made my day! A good chuckle!!
I've been watching for years and I absolutely love the polar nights. I wish I was there ❤
Cecelia I am SO happy I found your channel! I have been watching your latest videos with my 10yr old son, and he finds your home and island beautiful. Thank you (and Christoffer and Grim!) for sharing your lives and your world, and for showing the beauty in such cold conditions! 🩵❄️🩵❄️✨
