"This looks like something out of a kid's nightmare!"
You're more right than you think! When they were making the movie, they brought in a bunch of the cast & crew's kids and sat them down at a table and handed them all black crayons and paper. The effects team told the kids to draw the scariest shadow-monster they could think of. Then the effects team used those drawings as the starting point for the monster designs.

Both of Taika’s Thor movies are told by a character in it. Ragnarok was Thor himself, as if telling it to his bony cell mate. Love and Thunder is very literally narrated by Korg. But, I think in the comics, every time Jane transformed into Thor using the power of Mjolnir, the amount of energy coursing through her body burned up the chemotherapy treatment inside of her. So, while she was transformed into Thor, she had the power of a god and was temporarily cured. But, every time she transformed back into Jane, her cancer came back worse because the chemotherapy was gone. That's why she ended up succumbing to her illness and dying in the end.

A decade ago I never imagined they would implement the screaming goat meme into a comic book film, but here we are. They don't mention their names out loud, but they're called Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder.
The New Asgard tour guide is Darryl Jacobson from the Team Thor one-shots parts 1 and 2. He even has his own Team Darryl short.
Gorr's daughter Love was portrayed by Chris Hemsworth's real-life daughter India Rose. In fact, Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, and Taika Waititi had their kids join as some of New Asgard's children.
Imagine if the Guardians knew about Eternity. If they stuck around long enough, either Nebula or Peter would have wished to revive Gamora whereas Drax would bring back his wife and daughter.
I didn't expect for them to be around for much of the movie, but I was hoping to at least get a teaser about where they're headed next. At least we don’t have to wait long to find out. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 premieres this weekend and it will likely arrive on Disney Plus before the end of August.
(And folks, Alex has already seen the Guardians Holiday Special. That’s Patreon exclusive.)
Also, if Jane and Heimdall managed to arrive to Valhalla, I wonder if original Loki also made it in. He did try to stop Thanos himself. Maybe that alone qualifies as a warrior's death to grant him entry. At least we still have his analyst double who's no different than the original. He's still our one and the same Loki.
I'm not gonna lie: I was hoping for a cameo from Analyst Loki, but I guess it isn't time for the brothers to reunite just yet. Hopefully we see them together in one of the upcoming Avengers films. One's gonna be called the Kang Dynasty, and the other Secret Wars. We still have a ways to go, but the Avengers will reassemble.

To answer your question at 13:08, Marvel is really good at sticking to source material while making small changes to not make it exactly like the comics. The scene where Thor is looking at Falligar the Behemoth with Korg on top of a rock is ripped directly from the comic panel. Super cool in my opinion. So the god butchers original plan was to wish ALL the gods away because they didn't save his daughter, Thor and Jane were smart in basically making him realize he was being a hypocrite, he now had the power to save her and didn't, only because he couldn't be the one to raise her.... but at least she would be alive. Also he needed Stormbreaker just for the fact it can summon the bifrost, earlier in the movie they found out that was the key to getting to Eternity. I do love that Jane got to go to Valhalla because she died a norse God, and died in battle.
I love your idea though that the movie is weird is because its being told by Korg... which in a way it is, Korg is voiced by the movies Director Taika Waititi =)

OK, I have to drop some trivia here.
The dead god that gave Gorr the sword in this movie was Knull the god of the Symbiotes (the creature that Venom is) in the comics. The sword itself is a symbiote that turns into a Symbiote dragon. Gorr then tries to end the world with such a crazy plan that three different Thors from different timelines work together to kill Gorr.
Read the King in Black comic books to see a world-ending crossover event.
After Jane's death in the comics, she became the new Valkyrie (and actually shows up in King in Black).

  • @duckie68
    @duckie68 Год назад +5

FINALLY! Someone gets it! One of the big themes in the comic book stories is that every story also comes from a particular point of view. We accept different writers and artists, but the universe as a whole is predicated upon some in-universe storyteller. A big powerhouse comic was "Marvels" which was all about these Earth shattering events from the point of view of a guy on the streets. This way, even the exact same event can be told very differently and you can mix the goofiest stories with the most serious ones.
My advice to anyone realizing this is simply to enjoy the stories you like, and feel free to dislike others. The studios will still make more content and you will get more of what you like.

YES, ALEX, THANK YOU. it seems like the majority of viewers missed the fact that this entire story/movie is being told by korg, who is very much an unreliable narrator. taika waititi isn't just some whacky dude who directs stuff, he actually has a vision that most of the time goes under the radar (jojo rabbit is also told in a similar way, a little boy's perspective of WW2.)
korg's style of storytelling doesn't differ from luis's storytelling (ant-man's best-friend), which is why a lot of that shit may be exaggerated or even made-up lol because korg wasn't there for a lot of the things that went down, plus he's telling this story to children, this is the asgardian legend about the mighty thor.
accuracy-wise, taika took bits and pieces from the comics such as jane's cancer and becoming mighty thor (+ her death), omnipotence city, hercules (though he joins the avengers and guardians in the comics), and the screaming goats (that are actually quite powerful in norse mythology). bonus fact: love is actually played by chris hemsworth's daughter, child thor in the beginning was one of chris's sons, and natalie portman's, taika waititi's, as well as christian bale's children are also among the asgardian youth, making it one big family experience :)

I had never thought about the fact that the movie was told through Korg's eyes and to kids! I already loved the movie, but this made me love it even more! Thank you, Alex!
And to wield Stormbreaker one doesn't need to be worthy, but to wield Mjölnir does because of Odin. Kinda like Thor did to Mjölnir to protect Jane.
Love your videos!! Keep it up!

my wife is going through cancer treatments. She made it through skin cancer and 2 years later was diagnosed with leukemia. It's been tough, but you stop thinking about the bad and just enjoy the time you spend together, make the best of the situation.
