- Since I did Crossing the Line, I just had to do ATLA with this song. Granted, this shows a slightly more sympathetic Azula than we saw at the agni kai, but I heard she was supposed to get a redemption arc, so hopefully it doesn't come out of nowhere.
Katara: okay okay azula's hair is kinda crazy what did she DO to it- oop- oh- uh- well now zuko is singing uh.... and azula is... also singing... um... wow they have great voices... uhhhh how much longer are they gonna sing for...? are we not gonna fight???

I feel like this was something he would have done for her. You can see him remembering everything he threw away with his darkness, everything he did to win, and the way he found out that he'd ready lost it all. He gave up everything worth having to try to get his approval from their father like Azula. But she's losing it all because she doesn't want anyone's approval. She'll destroy everything around her, her family and her friends, just to gain the power to take what she's after. Yet I don't think Azula really knew what she wanted. She got there and had no plan, nothing to advance to, no one to gloat with. She couldn't handle not having something to crush, something to prove. Zuko reached out to her, but she was already gone.

she lost nearly everyone she loved. though some of it was her fault, I place most of the blame on Ozai for the way he raised her. or, I should say, trained her. he didn't raise her as a daughter, he trained her as a soldier. she did not know real love and was faced with her own mother thinking her a monster. she was used by Ozai and from him learned to use others, which eventually backfired on her
Exactly, when I think of it like that and her whole situation I don't hate her the way I would if I focused on her as a crazy villian.

Yeah, in the comics Zuko finds his mom and discovers why she left and how her life comes full circle. Mabey in their spare time he'll take up theater with her and his stepfather.

Probably because Cass’s villain arc was just terribly written
