You can also use taunt in this method after you've used toxic but it'll just make mewtwo hit you every turn, meaning you'll be using more potions, which ever way works better for you!
Hands down the easiest way to take down this Mewtwo is to simply trade for the an alolan meowth. Its a dark type and mewtwo cannot touch it with any of its moves.

i had an articuno with mirror coat base lvl to jist used mirror coat once ans seince mewtwo nearly one shot it, articuno one shot mewtwo with mirror coat
Thanks for this guide! My Snorlax was only level 54 so pretty underleveled but I hit Mewtwo with Toxic on my first turn and Snorlax was knocked out on the second. Then I brought Charizard in and used Fire Blast which eliminated almost all of his health and the Toxic damage knocked him out. Three turns and done! I was having so much trouble before that.
Instead of healing you should have an alolan marowak and gengar, use toxic with snorlax, switch to marowak(takes 0 damage to psychic). Then to gengar.(takes 0 damage to swift) keep switching and the NPC won hit you ever
mewtwo was almost fainted just one hit left, so I used mirror coat but mewtwo made articuno faint, But, toxic made it faint straight after.... I get bad luck from ultra balls, so I switched to the great balls and got it first great ball!!

In my opinion the best way to beat Mewtwo as I would do is double team him with your support trainer and then after the fight either double ultra ball him, or use your Master ball on him. (P.S. the whole point of getting the Master ball in either of these games is to catch Mewtwo with it FYI)

DUDE THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I caught Mewtwo like 5 minutes ago due to that TM to my whole party and it defeated him. After that I used an ultra ball like 20 times but it was WORTH IT!!
Trade for an alolan muk and alolan raticate in the game or trade them in (I got them from Pokemon Go). Toxic the mewtwo with alolan muk. Then keep crunching, hyper-fanging, super-fanging with raticate. Superfang nullifies recover and toxic sweeps the poor critter out so quick if mewtwo does not recove. These pokemon can be even lower than level 40 to take out mewtwo because mewtwo's psychic effects do not take effect dark types. Totally underleveled and took him out faster than the above method.

I needed a pokémon thats keeps alive after a psych hit. First, I hit with toxic move, and after, just used Max potion until mewtwo dies. It was a lazy strategy? Hahaha
I almost gave up on this game after trying to get mewtow thanks so much it worked. I just rocked it and then potion stalled it then baited it to Use a attacking move at the end when it kept using recover.

I have an idea as well! Catch a magikarp in Cerulean Cave and level it up once, (catch combo chansey on the second floor of the cave for loads of xp) and it will evolve into Gyarados. Then buy a Gyaradosite from the guy in a Slowpoke suit at the Indigo Plateau. Use the Gyarados and mega evolve it in battle and it will become a dark type, and Mewtwo's psychic can't hurt dark type pokemon. (aka use a mega gyarados 😂)
My articuno managed to live his swift, one mirror coat then he died. Also somehow I caught him with a great ball. I’m extremely shocked that I managed to do it.

I decided to abuse the two player option and used double team, using my level 20 gloom and level 40 grimmice, used toxic, it killed my gloom so i brought out my level 60 venusaur, thankfully it killed my grimmice and I was able to use leech seed, then used confusion. It took like 4 minutes but was able to kill mewtwo with my severely underleveled team
Ok if u wanna Have a legendary appear, rack up a catch combo, one of the birds? do it in the air, mewtwo? idk if it's possible but maybe rack one up in Cerluean cave? and if you see a mewtwo (not the mewtwo that is always in the same area)

How about using an Alolan Grimer/Muk? It's Poison/Dark, so Mewtwo's Psychic will not affect it and Toxic will always hit if used by it.

Just use a mega gyarados and an x attack, swift shouldn't be able to two shot it AND with the x attack you can usually one shot it
