Amazing video! I think my personal favorite enemy is actually Mini Angel Cyclone, it's also an extremely powerful enemy that actually has a negative dynamic with tankier melee enemies (as you can stack wave/surges on them) but can still pose a threat with a lot of basic mid-range enemies. One topic that I'd also love to touch on are some enemies that are just so badly balanced that it's hard to make good dynamics for them. Two that comes to mind are Winged Pigge and St Dober. You did mention St Dober and how he can destroy backliners, but he also destroys frontliners the same. This makes him such a difficult enemy to counter as the only reliable way to stall him is using Ramen, which can easily melt if there's any sort of non-angel enemies in the stage with him. Winged Pigge suffers a somewhat similar problem, where the only reliable way to stall him is using Ramen. Any combination of enemies that aren't angels instantly makes W.Pigge an insanely powerful threat. These are I think why their debut stages (Bare Fangs at the Throne & Heaven's Oasis) are the hardest stages they're ever in. I think PONOS realized how terribly hard it is to make stages with them, and so any other stages they're in now either have them alone with barely any enemy supports or just other angels so Ramen can carry everything. It's either too hard or too easy, and finding that actually good dynamic is really difficult with these enemies.
I honestly agree with these. Both Winged Pigge and St. Dober are insanely overtuned and disable way too many strategies to make a fulfilling stage with either of them in it. They pretty much suffer from oppressive boss syndrome, where you literally only have one strategy to beat them whenever you fight them, or else they become frustratingly difficult to deal with. With Winged Pigge, you're forced to spam the hell out of Ramens, spam everything that outranges her omni, and pray. You can't use rushers against her, you can't use tankers against her, you can't use (most) cc against her, you can only use midrangers and backliners, paired with Ramen. With St. Dober, his stats are far too high to allow any strategy other than surge immune spam or permafreezing him. Like with Winged Pigge, you can't use rushers against him, you can't use tankers against him, you can't use midrangers against him, you can't use backliners against him, you can only use surge immune and pray, which really limits the variety in facing him, because your pool of non uber units so limited unless you avoid taking him head on entirely and use Li'l Dark or Juliet to permafreeze him. It makes both of these enemies so annoying to fight for me (and many others) because you can't express your playstyle. My playstyle is very centric around rushers, so when I encounter enemies like these, I groan and get annoyed, because I don't want to do the same song and dance of Ramen & Cyborg. I want to play the game how I want to play it. I want to make my own strategies, not be shackled or handcuffed into what the specific enemy demands. Adding any other threatening enemy just worsens this problem, as the only way to beat them becomes much more difficult. Like in Bare Fangs at the Throne, Othom curses your CC, so you can't use them to take care of St. Dober. PONOS probably realized this combination was annoying as hell and never did anything like it again. Most other St. Dober stages, he's supported minimally, or even just outright left alone like in Hall of the Four Kings. Or in Kosamin Ruins, Winged Pigge is literally only supported by Gabriels, since anything else as simple as a Tackey would piss everyone who plays the stage off, with Tackey murdering your Ramens & Cyborgs. This isn't a problem exclusive to those two either obvious, with many more oppressive enemies existing like Pickle, Socrates, Omens, etc. They're all exclusive to only one or two stages, and it's definitely for the best.
I feel like Doremi also fits in that group of poorly balanced enemies, but with the exact opposite scenario Where the stage it appears in is the WORST it's in, due to having no actual support If you've tried to make a custom stage with Doremi you'd know it's MISERABLE without just having it die to a single Bahamut chain
St Dober is just way too linear. The overtuned level 3 surge and stages St Dober usually appears in forces you to either ramen spam to take it on, or isolate it and burst it down freezing it with Juilet cat to not allow St Dober to surge your units. It's just the same gameplay just with different supporting enemies that you isolate from St Dober.
Winged pigge is hated because of its decent dps but luckily li'l dark cat can make the process of fighting it easier as long as it's only 100% or 150% and alone
Wait, they have the same voice, they talk the same way in their videos, they have similar videos(one of souptasta’s last video is a video essay about the worst stage in BC), canned juice started uploading a lot of BC videos 3 months after souptasta’s ITF 1 slot only vid(his last one) and their channel’s names are related to food. I think you’re onto something
There's something to be said about most zombie enemies (the ones that burrow). Aside from Zamelle and event enemies like Z-onel, they're completely up in your face frontliner threats, or have a high enough range that they qualify as a midranger, but not in the same way as literally every metal. The balancing of the trait is that they rely on the stage layout like the length between both bases, and the careful cashflow throughout the stage since they burrow and *will* take over portions of the field like in Defaced tombstone. I think Miss Haka is a genius enemy, monsterous hp but high knockback, it makes her a looming threat that has unlimited burrows until she decimates your base. But when she does pop up, she has a slight animation like rock cat where she stalls and puts holes in your defense and gives her teammates an opportunity to reach your midrangers and catch up to her.
One of very few battle cats channels to get my seal of approval for quality analysis, well thought out and not just repeating basic/common takes or losing accuracy to simplification or entertainment value. You have good ideas and good explanations with qualities that I'd compare to great talents like pannenkoek or summoningsalt, albeit less developed and honed at this stage. I look forward to what you produce in future.
@@The_Devourer_Of_Gods I didn't see it as a roast. I do find it a bit weird though because this joke only works if the youtuber has an unusually long gap between videos and a month is normal for this channel.
I specifically remember them pairing bun bun and Kory variants together notably in labyrinth of hades, docking massacre, boiling spring and some other stages
The enemy synergy is probably the primary reason why PONOS doesn't upgrade Advent Boss on Floor 41++ to their Merciless counterpart. The upgraded boss has completely different behavior. If they just swap the boss without care, it will create some stupid enemy combination. Like what are you going to do against Pappu and King WanWan combo?
The Tackey family (including Loris too because hes just relic tackey) has to be my favorite despite it being an absolute pain in the ass to play against, it forces players to step out of the comfortable and reliable [Strong backline Uber/Legend] and makes them think of a different way to tackle the stage, sometimes you rush like with Thorny dialogue, where otherwise you can't use a good backliner to kill the Alpackies or you just... Outrange the LD with Cyberpunk (looking at you Horrorpotamus) Either way, not very fun enemy to play against, but really good ideas to force change into a player's lineup
Zapy+Cadaver Bear is one of the most painful things I have ever dealt with. The combination of two enemies that attack relatively quickly, with one of them dealing insane damage and basically mandating cheap, spammable meatshields, and a backliner that can easily infiltrate your defense with its burrow, kill the meatshields you need for Zapy, and overall being a complete nuisance is awful to deal with.
I beat berserkory in ogre island by hyper maxed divine thundia. I play this game wrong, I've been grinding it for at least two years now and wasn't really paying attention to SoL or ITF. After this I remembered they existed and just shred through them like hot butter through butter, even Bahamut was easy bc I had lvl 60 anti alien cats and hyper maded Megaphridote.
