This is my natural and honest reaction and review to Iron Maiden - The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. I have never seen the video until now. I hope you enjoy the reaction. My thoughts and commentary are at the end of me watching the video.

Great reaction though! I look forward to seeing you react to some live songs. Iron Maiden are by far the best live band I have ever witnessed, even going into their 60s. Their shows aren’t just about making a quick buck. They actually want to entertain the crowd and it’s proven by their energy and charisma on stage. Bruce, the singer is also a commercial airline pilot who flys the band around on their world tours, he was an Olympic level fencer in the U.K and has also overcome throat cancer. He’s superhuman! I’ve liked, subscribed and turned notifications on so don’t let me down! Peace and love man, keep doing what you’re doing ❤️

I read this back in 1984 in 10th grade English lit. Samuel Taylor Colridge's rime of the ancient mariner. My 60 year-old teacher let My friend bring in the album and play this song and she was quite impressed
Iron Maiden tell story +spicess of Heavy Metal.
Maiden do a lot of story telling, so both the music and lyrics do their part in telling the stories as you noticed. This particular song is based on a poem by the same name by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, in 1798. There are some excerpts of the poem in the song too.
I learned at an early age back in 1983 to look at the lyrics when listening to metal music

This album was a great concert. Back in the day, when you didn't buy a seat - you bought whatever spot you chose to occupy at any given time during the concert.

Maiden songs are a journey..
Maiden has been the sound track of my life.. Been a fan since 1981 and will be till the day they close they lid. Got my 2 year old son into them, he is now 24 and is also his favorite band and we have seen them together live 5 times, including being front row on his 21st birthday. I have seen them 17 times and counting.. Enjoy the journey.
You really needed to follow the lyrics with this one because you completely missed the concept of the song. You also said you would talk about the transitions after the song but you constantly spoke over them and ruined the vibe. If the music and lyrics have slowed down, you need to listen becsuse it's telling the story. Iron Maiden songs often give you an interpretation of classical literature or an accurate history lesson, so you'll need to keep up
He still has the enthusiasm though of a first listen. He just needs to understand what the music is about first. Kinda hard on first listen. I completely agree with your statement just also see it from his viewpoint. Rock on 🤘🤘
Yeah, I totally get it. I guess when Powerslave was first released, I had the privilege of buying it on vinyl and reading through the lyrics as I gave it my first listen...ah, the good ol' days 😂
This is such an Epic track, a first listen is always gonna be a challenge. Still, it was a very genuine reaction. Hope you can revisit it some time.

It's the epic 19th century English poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, put to song.
I learned more about history, poetry and literature from Iron Maiden than I did from a lot of teachers. Maiden is like The Neverending Story: you take away something new with every listen
The song is set at sea, not about a falling empire.
Love your reactions you should do lyric though so much will Maiden teach you as you enjoy the transitions the best ever or at least tied with Metallica please don't hate on me out there

New to your channel and great reaction to an amazing band. I would consider Iron Maiden my second favorite band if I had to rank them. They take you on an adventure....My favorite of course is Rush, another amazing band with great musicianship and outstanding lyrics. If you like transitions I would suggest you listen to Natural Science from Permanent Waves...you won’t be disappointed. But be careful, once you start down the Rush rabbit hole it’s hard to stop!!

Dude, do some homework before you comment. I understand you were expressing the feeling you were getting from the performance only you weren't paying attention to any of the lyrics.
You kept saying your not an expert, you will never be one without obtaining more information about your subject and simply imposing your feelings in place of the intent of the artists is not having understanding of the music your enjoying.

You should have had the lyrics up.
Even without lyrics; the title, so many references to ships, crew, sea, ocean, etc, and the creaking ship, you should have been able to figure out this is taking place on a ship, not an empire.
Even with looking up the lyrics music is about expression and interpretation. Even with the boat references I’m speaking with regards how the music made me feel

Great reaction. Recommend "Run To The Hills", as well being a great song, also a good history lesson about the crimes committed against Native Americans by European/US colonists.
