@@SK-sm9mn They were great sounds, but too much of a good thing. Cornwall is overlooked as a guitarist. Listen to his fills and riffs on the Raven album: The intro to The Raven and the stacatto chords on Baroque Bordello. The balance on that album is better than on the first two albums. I totally agree that the gutteral bass sound is killer, just a bit high in the mix.
@@NessieJapan: Odd to think that JJ was the classically trained guitarist. I too like Hugh’s quirky licks but it’s only because he was in the band first that he played lead.
Daves keyboards & burnels fantastic bass... what a combo... they really made that Stranglers sound so distinctive. Just brilliant. Only slight negative is JJ should defo have sung lead vocals on more tracks
Agree with all the comments, great singing, amazing piano work by Dave (RIP), by the way wasn't this song written/co written with original keyboard player Hans Warmling (also RIP) ?
RIP Mr Greenfield. Wonderful musician.
Superb 🎹 🎹 🎹 🎹! 🇬🇧 😮version!
First time hear this version. Beautiful❤👍.
Brilliant and beautiful piano work, love this version of a great stranglers song, and hugh cornwells voice is outstanding!!
Classically trained outstanding pianist: Mr Dave Greenfield, now playing in Heaven and delighting God and Angels around.
Amen. Like The Doors, you knew who the band was once you heard the keyboards.
Get a grip. Do you have any idea on what you just thought/typed??

dosent the bass player come from a jazz background?
Poor old Dave....He was the best, makes me well up listening to this 😥
Does with me, I don't like to reminisce but now and again, tears
Drugs take them all
HUGH...Voice of an angel
Rest in peace Dave.
Great to see and hear this. Dave's playing is gorgeous.
JJ looks so young! RIP Dave :(
Hugh had such a great voice. Sigh.
Beautifully sung.
My favourite Stranglers song...absolutely brilliant.
Yep they made some crackers but this is JUST ABOUT their best tune
Outstanding in black! RIP, Dave
Utter brilliance.
Lovely version. It's a personal song for me. Striped down, you can hear that it's a solid song.
A punk band with a classical pianist.... magic!
Great download. This cut down version highlights how skilled Dave was.
I could listen to Dave's piano playing forever. I don't want it to end. Rest in peace ❤
This is genius
Beautiful.
Great lyrics and brilliant music
best version I've heard just beautiful.
Hugh’s voice is so much better when heard live, so much better than on a recording
wish they would remaster this onto dvd/bluray
Awww Dave thank you for the years of bliss.
Beautiful
A great song by a great band.A pity JJ's bass play is so low here I can hardly hear it.RIP Dave.A big loss to us all but will never be forgotten.💔
Ironically, the bass was pumped up a bit much on the first three albums.
@@NessieJapan Couldn’t disagree more. The booming bass and Dave’s keyboards were the very essence of The Stranglers

@@donquixote3927 In some alternate universe, JJ played guitar.
Proves how great he was at playing any keyboard.
His Harpsicord on Golden Brown told us that
Dave didn't need to prove anything to anybody.
The Stranglers always reminded me of fine wine. Time and experience made their sound soulful and beautiful. Especially the original line-up.
wonderlijk, from Belgium, heel mooi, extremely beautiful, a jewel of a song
Beautiful voice
Hugh has a great voice
That was a whole different direction for The Strangers with Hugh Cornwell, J. J. Burnel and Dave Greenfield. Very cool, relaxing and mellow.
Great Music
Yet another winning song from The Stranglers
this is essence of creativity love it
Just a great band ,first head them when I was 15 and I’m a fair bit older now still listening.
The most under-rated keyboard player, ever. Mr Dave Greenfield.

Yes it was. It was offered to EMI in about 1975 but rejected, but ironically it became their last single before finishing with EMI.
Way cool. I got turned onto this by a Dave Greenfield tribute video where the fellow plays this whole song.
" A Musical Triumvirate Of Brilliance " !!! From Adrian Browne 1965
Wow. Nice.
This song, along with Golden Brown and Paradise, made the Stranglers more popular, being on the cusp of the real synth New Wave bands, and Punk.
Never seen this before. Did Jet get the day off ? Or maybe he filmed it.
They look so young!
Great ❤️♥️❤️
Manuela, all men and women, are strange... You speak only English... Sorry...!!!.. Andrzej
Feels like its The Kinks' song :)
Wow!
What documentary exactly is this?

l'amore senza frontiere!
Not their best song but their best years to me. I like.

Hugh Cornwell is an ideał man😊
Many fair headed maidens out there...but he didn't take no wife ;)
(Ref to recent solo single) :)
Tidy !
The Stranglers = Hugh + Dave
They were better off without Hugh
...+ JJ + Jet

A simple. Song
very nice, a bit too slow tempo though
Can't hear jj base 😢
Yes it is mixed too low. You can hear a bit when Hugh is not singing.
Jet Black the main man; end of
