Awesome video, Bill is one of the best companions up there with Sarah Jane & Donna for me. Such a tragic ending. Great representation. Got a new subscriber! ✅

Just realised that the whole thing with Bill not knowing her mom and all that is the same thing RTD fumbled with Ruby.

Bill’s mother died, was adopted after some time in the care system, had a somewhat distant relationship with her adopted mother (she didn’t even know bill was gay) and was never that curious about her mother beyond the general questions.
Ruby’s mother abandoned her, she was adopted by her temporary foster mother who would still continue to foster other kids, is very close with her adopted mother and grandmother and was very invested in finding her mother.
Even from a story point of view, bill’s lack of solid parenting is to lead to the doctor playing the role of mentor while with ruby it’s a defining character motivation and trait
I don’t see how they’re similar other than both being adopted.

@@unclekarl5219 Bill never met her mom, didn't even have any pictures of her, and thinking about her (thus giving her importance) saved the world in the Monk three-parter.

@@j.b.c.a.that furthers my point. In that episode she used her mother for guidance specifically because the doctor wasn’t there. She and ruby are completely different characters who’s only similarity is that they were adopted

@@unclekarl5219 I mean, it sill is "the biological mother of the companion being important and saving the day because they are thought while being a regular human being", which is what RTD was aiming for in the finale. The difference is how it's treated, which is exactly where I think RTD fumbled the bag.

My poor Bill. As a lesbian woman myself she is perfect representation. Smart, proud & not afraid to kick ass like the men. “You know I’m all about girls yeah? Thought you should know that” my fav line🩷
Id love to see you do a video on Missy’s love for 12! Could title it “Was Missy in love with The Doctor?”
Seen many people discuss their love-hate bond over the seasons, but not a lot really explain Missy’s motives through the lens of one sided yearning which is canon. It really takes her from villain to anti-hero even at the get go. The Missy comics do confirm she definitely was in love with him with issue 04’s cover being her giving him Puppy eyes lol. Her death too, realising she was screwed when Saxon showed up with Bill, thinking she could play the long game & kill him off which is why she said “thanks for trying” to 12. Then it backfired, never being able to return. Love your channel! 🩵

@@TardisTalks you’re welcome, excited to see what you cook up! 🙏 The opinion of Missy’s feelings is purely speculative, but upon a good few rewatches & analysing the little mannerisms Michelle Gomez brilliantly slipped in, its a solid case for debate on if she was in love from the start. She was super jealous of Clara for starters, wrapping her hand over 12’s and whispering in his ear to shoot her lol. But as she became more empathetic, like the dance scene or the Tardis scenes, she constantly tries to initiate hand holding or can’t look 12 in the eye when sad, most of the time he’s a bit reluctant as fresh from grief with River. Even then Missy respects River & never dares insult her, showing she had compassion for 12, over choosing to be a bitter ex with snide remarks! In the final episode of hers 12 begs “stand with me, it’s all I ever wanted” & Missy goes to hold his hand saying “me too” crying. Yet so many folk look over her feelings for him!! I just think it explains her motives better, She was lonely, in love(?), & didn’t know how to handle her past damnation of morals. I look forward to your opinion! 😁🩵

@@bugginonthewall Agreed. Didn’t Moffat have a rejected plot twist that Missy was pregnant at one point? I swear I remember him saying he almost wrote her pregnant. It sets in stone that she & 12 were having a fling on the Tardis if so to me lol.

The ending for her destroyed the whole character for me.
She was great and different from the mold of what usually travels with the Doctor Who but I just cant get over that lame ending for her. She should have been changed into a Cyberman and that's it. No "oh no! I am conscious Cyberman". I just felt it took away from how brutal that ending is.
