Don't worry about the Sandworm, the Lego Heighliner starship used by the Spacing Guild to transport people and equipment across the known universe will make Sandworms look tiny.
What i did to display the Ornithopter is i took a spool of fishing line i got and fed through 4 points on the set, long enough to secure the ends of all 4 on two identical metal shelves. Those being in the tail right in front of the black exhausts, in the center with two stacked rows of technic pins/holes just behind the knob to lower the ramp and landing gear and through the main hinge of the ramp. Additionally, before i received the set, i had gathered the necessary technic parts from my own collection to replace all the red, yellow and blue parts that stuck out far too much. Could of course have looked into replacing the orange balljoint connectors and the two special technic linkages too, but felt those could either wait or be left as they are.
Replacing the red and orange pieces with their grey/black counterparts really goes a long way towards improving the look of this thing… I did this before I built mine, and the end result looks so much nicer. The orange pieces and a few of the red ones are pretty hard to get to once the set is put together, so I suggest getting the necessary replacement parts before you build.
It’s a great set. Not sure what you’re on about regarding the size. Yes it’s relatively big, unless you own say the Titanic or the UCS ATAT and then it’s not so bad! And yes I did exactly what you suggested with the set (I don’t care for minifigures) I bought the set then sold the figures! I paid £130 for the set instead of the £150 rrp and sold the figures for £95! Which makes this the best value LEGO set under £40 IMHO! 😂
If You find it too big to display it anywhere in a shelf, why do You not just hang it at the ceiling? Experiment a bit with a nylon string. There should be plenty of space to display it flying around somewhere and if You succeed in posing it in a steep curve flight, a possibly studded bottom would not spoil the appearance too much?
Exaclty. I felt it would look alot better to have it suspended mid air. honestly geniuses set with alot of collectible potential. After seeing part 2 I now understand that Dune might be the Harry Potter/LOTR/Star Wars of this decade, if the franchise continues to produce good profitable films Dune might actually end up as an actual Lego theme in 10-15 years, it has unique molds and mechanisms, add to that the unique minifigs of the dune characters like baron harkonen and the first minifig of duncan idaho SPOLER FOR BOOKS DONT READ THE FOLLOWING IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE SPOILED FOR PART 3 AND FUTURE FILMS From dune messiah onward duncan idaho gholas (clones with implanted memories) are as big a part of this franchise as spice and sandworms. Even more important than how Jengo Fett clones are in star wars. A lot of the later books have a duncan idaho ghola as a main or secondary protagonist. So this is the 1st duncan idaho minifig. and yes this is a more adult and violent franchise, but brian herbert (frank herberts son) whose the owner of the IP made a successful literary career out of milking it so as long as the adaptations continue to be quality and profitable i don't see multimedia projects like the lego sets ,videogames, table top games, and TV shows not being made anymore.
I'm assuming the model can be modified (removal of the wings and elements of the tail) in order to create a 50% smaller 'display case version of the model' rather than buy a new house and new display cabinets.
@@Thelegosguy Yes I know, but it will fit on the existing shelf. You could be crafty and add some additional bricks to make the tail foldable, just like aircraft that fit on an aircraft carrier. There will always be a compromise between a display model and a robust play model. Alternatively, hang it from the ceiling or make a fishing rod type hanger from a shelf, like I've done with the ISS model.
Great review! It is a huge set and is difficult to display the way it should be but it looks great. I say looks great but I have a caveat, there are a few things that stand out horribly. One is the red and the orange ball connectors, those really need replacing which I have almost completely done. The other that didn’t bother me at first but got increasingly bothersome was the red bush on the wing opening/closing mechanism…uggh…it stands out badly. The other thing was the studs exposed. This usually doesn’t bug me so much because it’s, well, it’s Lego; however, on this it bothered me. So I’ve add flat panels on most of the exposed studs to give it a smoother look. So far, I like my modifications and think it has improved the overall look. Now to find a place to display it!
man i REALLY want this set but like you said, with its size i just have no where to put this massive thing and im afraid it'll just end up sitting in its box for months
Wait so, the only problem you have with it is that it’s big? Sounds like there’s really no problem then 😂 For some, “bigger is better,” and if you actually have the space for it, then it sounds like all issues are bypassed, pretty much. There’s also the option to hang it with some wiring; makes it look airborne, which is awesome, but also occupies its space very efficiently.
I think this is the best Lego set released since the UCS Razorcrest, just an insane amount of love in one set that I haven’t personally had since 2005-2008 Lego Star Wars.
if you think this is too big. Wait until they make the Sandworm 😅

do you have the link/list of all the parts you need to buy to replace all the red/other colours?
Bigger the better👏gonna wall mount this bad boy
Dude… you are basically complaining that the Lego set is too good!
I don’t see it that way! It is amazing, I just wanna let people know it’s large!

When you compare anything to the Titanic in size it’s reasonable 😂

if its too big for you, why did you buy it??
It’s not to big for me! I simply said it might be too big for other people.

Sure you could easily do that, but that’s no fun! 😉

Interesting ideas! I’ll have to look into these…
Let me guess. $175.
Close!
you buy a stand or a wall mount for it boom problem solved.

I built it and it hangs in limbo on the floor rn 😂
Great Review! Super high quality.
Thanks!
