Imagine if the devs knew about the exotic economy and was like “Ferb, I know what we’re gonna do today”
I mean they clearly knew the market existed, why else would they add the dyes. They were sorta tryin to mimic Tf2's system of worth without realizing why the items in skyblock were priced how they were. I think it was them missing the point rather than actively trying to ruin the market

@@empdisaster10 Most likely not, their reason of killing the exotic community were because of the insane irl trading whether it be trading the items itself or hiding the irl trading via exotics
Many dragon exotics are still exotics. There's literally like a million colors you can dye armor to, though many of them barely change from each other. Still, the 20 or so colors hypixel has released aren't indistinguishable from every exotic. And that's only if you consider exotics being a color not available now. The dyes are rare to calm the exotic collectors but they exist because of the exotic craze.
Yeah but only the extremely rich will care about that. You don't need every color armor. You just need a color or two that you like

the end of the video hit home very hard, I started playing the game back in 2019 and had ammassed over 3500 hours of playtime, mixing skill grinding and money grinding and tons of other things, but my account was hacked and banned and it made me realize how much time I spent on a video game when that time spent on almost anything else could have put me in such a better position in life.

This reminds me of my days back in Neopets. I used to deal in what were called "petpet msps", can't remember what they were, basically treasure maps. You collected 9 - got a prize.
I would do the traditional shop method of buying at a low price from people just selling to get rid of them and sell in my shop at standard market prices, maybe a tiny bit below so they'd be ranked higher in the shop wizard (basically the item search, almost everyone went low-high as you do when shopping).
Then it was like overnight, the bottom dropped out. I don't know if everyone who wanted them had them, the market was flooded or what, but suddenly I couldn't GIVE them away (I tried, believe me).
As they were my main item, it was annoying as hell. Thankfully, it was near this that my account was frozen during the 2011 hack fiasco so I no longer have to stress it, but having everything upended out of no where is frustrating, even if it's just little while ixels in the end.
In the most nerdy way, I think this can be an amazing case study on bubbles, and how people are effected when those bubbles burst.
I don't believe this has anything to do with a bubble, atleast not how it played out. It was just a major supply increase to items with a very limited supply.
@@Syrxen when something of a loop gets found out with a specific stock (very rare to happen) it can bring down that stock price immensely

This is a great video! Would like to mention that the rarest armor that was made from this bug was actaully red wither peices, as in red storm, red goldor, maxor. This is because to make them you had to convert a necron peice into something else, which is a massive money loss. As far as I know like >30 red storm chestplates exist

While I kind of feel bad for these poeple, at the same time, something like this happening is just a risk you take when buying these items. This goes for all Skyblock items. Once you accept this, and realize that a lot of your items will lose value over time, it really isn't that bad.

I'm losing my minecraft account due to it unable to be migrated. With atleast 1200 hrs playtime and skills I've grinded for 2 1/2 years are now worthless in a few days. It was like the exact time and date of my death. After being in anger and denial for a few days, and trying everything in my power to get my account back. I had to accept the inevitable, it was lost. It hurts to see things you have put work into go, but also kind of relieving, but in life all things go. In the end, nothing matters and no one cares. After this my life felt much better and I started playing different games and hanging out with friends. So although I'm losing a minecraft account with lvl 250 and mvp+. It sort of teaches me a lesson: Dont put all your hard work into something that can so easily vanish... **and dont trust my father because he was the one who disabled the email**

Yep, same thing happened to me. I had a skill wipe so pretty much quit sky block just came back to it a week ago and I’ve been grinding dungeons with some strong dragon armor like this is depressing but I finally starting to get back to my better sets

Some end-game skyblock extoic horders actually wanted this. Or maybe, a better result than they've ever anticipated.
Most skyblock mains just want to quit. But all those wealth and stats that they left behind just made them a pity if they dunk it once and for all, sure it's a fast choice, but not a easy one to commit.
This M7 update casuing millions of no-longer-exotic pieces being sold is just delighting for those who suffer in eternal misery of skyblock exotics horder that wanted to quit to view.
Since the only most valuable things they own - No longer worth anything. Which made them can quit with ease. Having no more restrain of valuables leaving behind...
May the ones who quitted Skyblock due to exotics... Bless you and live a happy life. _sigh..._
PS: Hellcastle's narrating does gave me quite a sadness during this video about someone losing ~1 trillion coins worth of exotics + the BGM gave me a lot of chills, keep up the great work!

I dont get why sets like lime superior lost value, as they weren't craftable in that 1h bug. If they lost value because of the additions of dyes, i find that a bit dumb because the dyes are extremely rare (rarest drops in the game), as well as having icons when used. Maybe they would lose a bit of value, but not 10s of billions. This is my opinion anyways
he explained it. The Bubble burst, a lot of colllectors who were willing to bid these huge prices quit and therefore the interest in said items fell a LOT and so did the price.

@@TheAlmightyBlob Thats the whole point of an economic bubble. Those items never had that value in the first place, it was a "perceived value". When that perception changes, the value drops.

I used to be making 10 million coins every single day through snow minions and the magical 90% return hoppers I forgot the name of until my inactive coop member (I made 100% of the island he was an irl so I let him *coop* with me) and he got banned and they deleted my island. Quit after that, I’m pretty sure I had maxed chests on chests of the stock item that I had purchased back in the day for like 10,000. I logged on today to find a single stock is worth 400,000. Wow I would have been so rich

Value is definitely subjective, these armour pieces may have been worth a lot of coins, but to D4MIT they were priceless, or worthless. Either he valued his friend's gift so much that he didn't want to part with them, or he did not value the coins enough to make any effort to acquire more coins.

there are people that buy exotics just to void them as explained in the video, so maybe those people might rise the price of exotics. It might take the same amount of waiting that D4 did but it will still result in a trillion coin nw
Nah for the more expensive exotics there were only a few which made them so expensive. It might increase a little but probably not with the major supply increase and dyes coming eventually
I personally blame the guy who first found it. If he wouldn't have shared it with others, D4 would have still been decently rich.

There was another bug do dye armor. If you were wearing a crystal armor, you could change the armor through the wardrobe and the armor had a random color from the set.
