I got involved with a woman whose 4 yr old kid was a mess, too. If I was to do it all over again, I would bail. But I stuck it out and was the disciplinarian there. The kid got a lot better after a year or so, but I would never go thru that again. The woman put too much burden on me, and it wore me out n made me miserable and the relationship went downhill mostly because of the kid, I think. U cant ever love someone else's kid the way u can love ur own. The connection just isn't there. My advice is to not get involved. It's too much
I'm Salvadoran so I was raised the old school way where you'd catch a good beating if you really misbehave or was disrespectful. On top of the "normal" punishments my mom was a massive alcoholic and was a nasty drunk that drank on a daily basis and never drank moderately. If she drank she'd sip until she would black out. She's always been both physically and verbally abusive even while sober. So drinking just amplified her negative demeanor. Point is I'd get beat the fuck up and screamed at and neglected nonstop since day one and I turned out still better than how kids these days grow up to be never being exposed to shit like this lol
