Mid-90s I had a very hot-headed girlfriend. This song always reminds me of her......some fond memories tinged with "18 carat gold regret". Class tune !!
This song always seemed to be playing when you walked into the restaurant on the felixstowe zeebrugge ferry, brings back many memories of happy times and long haul trips
@@josiewallace7968 he was warm up on a Shed Seven gig I went to. He was quite good. I was listening to all his songs. He got a bit annoyed when he sang an old classic people listened. But didn’t when he sang a new song. 😁
By far the best Bluetones video and a pretty good tune to boot. Also: They got the make-up team who did The Nutty Professor to do their rotund physiques. Class ha ha!
I have the exact Robbie Fowler era Reds top myself, sad to say that it's about the same size as yours too, well done lads cracking track, Bill Hicks rest well *
actually knew this from captain price’s actor, barry paul sloane, and i’m mighty glad i found it, thinking of putting it as a credits song for my short movie
Loved this band. Quality lyrics and musicianship, criminally ignored by most of the populace, as they clamoured for Oasis's lumpen pub rock. Shame on you. One of my all time faves of the 90's.
Mate, much as I agree about Oasis and the masses, it was the breakthrough success of Oasis that meant all these great indie guitar bands got signed and got on the TV and radio etc.
I can't believe nobody hardly mentions the crazy fat makeup effects and fat suits on the lads - so cool to see them made up as obese guys and the hours they each spent in the makeup chair to look like that. They made this music video long before Rammstein's Keine Lust that also used fat suits on its band members. This was long before fat suits were outlawed in the media!
@jayess5796 That's the scene I'm talking about and it's the Caterham Viewpoint! This location was also featured in the Good As Gold (Stupid As Mud) video by the Beautiful South!!
Good music, great baggy britpop, but why make fool out of people with obesity. It's probably artistic directors' idea but hope they know better nowadays
another tune from my youth.... and so under rated. This is a classic lyrically and musically. 18 karat gold regret
KarlsCrapola well said bruh 👊🏻 cudnt agree more
Nailed it mate with the 18 carrot gold regret if you know you know 👍
A lot of their stuff is under rated.
Same here, I'm In my 40s and still get goosebumps with this track, music sounds same now, 90s bands never die
"Tonight you owe my patience quite a debt". Best line ever.
Bloody love this song, used to play it all the time, such melancholy in it for me. Just played it 3 times now 👍
Bloody hell just heard this on 6 music. Not heard it in years. Class.
Mid-90s I had a very hot-headed girlfriend. This song always reminds me of her......some fond memories tinged with "18 carat gold regret".
Class tune !!
What a tune, still remember as a teenager working out the riff like it was yesterday
And now my heart's besset with 18 carot gold regret...top shelf😘
That's a lyrics mate
This song always seemed to be playing when you walked into the restaurant on the felixstowe zeebrugge ferry, brings back many memories of happy times and long haul trips
A tribute to the late great Bill Hicks. Marblehead Johnson was his band name. Great post.
Never knew that
Thanks for that Man
Thank you so much! Finally!!
Watch; 'American - Bill Hicks', for more info about the band. Good call.
3rd peach from this band I’ve found today, quality band
If Johnny Vegas had his own guitar based four piece!
Wat a tune absolute CLASSIC!!! 👍🏻👌🏼👌🏼
Always loved The Bluetones. Didn’t get enough recognition
One of the best non album singles ever released
Sad that we will never see a band like this again...
That's because we won't see the 90's again.
Saw Mark play this last night in Durham, beautiful guitar and lyrics.. He seems to looking after himself much better these days he's now very svelte.
Fukkin tune so much nostalgia
One of the catchiest tunes from that decade,a real footapper 🫶
I look forward to hearing this on BBC radio 2.
great tune, still sounds superb after nearly 20 year
Sept 2020
@@michelleward5088 July 2022... it will never age
Been stuck in my head all day at work, deserved a visit. Great tune. Imagine them fat suits being shown today 😂😂😂. 90s. Great times
Brilliant band, met Mark Morriss at one of his solo gigs and he had time for everyone, such a talented and down to earth bloke
@@josiewallace7968 he was warm up on a Shed Seven gig I went to. He was quite good. I was listening to all his songs. He got a bit annoyed when he sang an old classic people listened. But didn’t when he sang a new song. 😁
Just love the Liverpool vibe respect from Glasgow
i'm getting a heart attack just by watching those lardballs jiggle around. ;)
By far the best Bluetones video and a pretty good tune to boot.

This guy(Mark) live is like reliving the 90s no change in voice or style fantastic it’s true what they say music only gets better with age 👌 x
Hope that's still true - going to see him in 6 days. :)
@@colinmiles27 how was it mate?
@@mrbtapir Might have seen him twice since that comment, once solo & once with other guitarist - great both times! Really great voice live.
@colinmiles27 ah awesome, glad to hear it. I've seen them a few times over the last 10 or so years and they've always been top notch.
KIN’TUUUUUUUUUNE MAN!!!! 🥲
Where’d the fkin time gone??? Good days vastly underrated band!!
You can't beat the Rickenbacker sound and these guys exploited it to the max. Awesome!
This was recorded on a Gibson 335
I have the exact Robbie Fowler era Reds top myself, sad to say that it's about the same size as yours too, well done lads cracking track, Bill Hicks rest well *
such a brilliant song
Still encouraging me to keep working on my beer gut to this day 🙂
Said it a million times but Adam Devlin is the most underrated guitarist ever!
Without a doubt
He's a lovely guy too. I danced at an after gig disco with him, ha, he has some moves.
actually knew this from captain price’s actor, barry paul sloane, and i’m mighty glad i found it, thinking of putting it as a credits song for my short movie
such a great song with a... daft video.
The video 😂
are you fat?
They dont make 'em like this anymore. Just a great song.
God! I bloody loved this when I was a kid! Never saw the vid til recently.. lol them fat suits tho!
Saw them perform this the other day in London.
LUCKEEEEEEEEEEE BUGGER !!

They knocked Oasis off the top of the album charts 🤷🏻♂️
well said @markmoore2625
Totally agree mate these shed seven too not sure if you can remember gene another underrated band
@@JamesMitchell-gw1hz Gene were great, i remember taping 'where are they now' off the evening session. ahhhh *wistful look*
looks like the the lads have being in lockdown for 30 years
Such a good tune

Still amazing!
Reminds me of living in Manchester mid 90’s
Awesome!!
I think the only guitar player to come close to this fella is Marr!✌🏻✌🏻
Or John Squire !
@@c9ckl oh of course but I think of Squire as more of a heavier Page influenced player, this fella and Marr play the janglier Birds type stuff🎸✌🏻
I've watched this video so many times, but just noticed something new. Was one of the locations used to shoot part of this video in Caterham, Surrey?
I think so. The last scene is shot on Box Hill above Dorking
@jayess5796 That's the scene I'm talking about and it's the Caterham Viewpoint! This location was also featured in the Good As Gold (Stupid As Mud) video by the Beautiful South!!
1:32 Just listened to this for the first time, and... well...
Top tune
A great song from a great band, they were as tight as a ducks ass this lot!
Tune!
18 carrot gold regret
So great! Thanks for posting:)
This would be considered fatphobic in 2024 lol
Why the “lol” though? It is fat phobic. It was still then but people were more indifferent to other groups
Classic
I remembered this, years later Rammstein with Keine Lust with those fat suits. Never heard a nod to the tones sadly, never a bad album by both 🎉
why that tune sounds me like the decemberists?
I’m crazy about the Decemberists, but Colin never wrote one as good as this! (Well…almost never)
Rip bill hicks
F
Love this
Wouldn't be politically correct in today's society. However, this video would help the nations health.
Make this video in 2021 and you'd be accused of fatshaming
exactly!! bloody wokes!
True! And I’m a fatty - I just find this funny.
People today are too thin-skinned.
Good music, great baggy britpop, but why make fool out of people with obesity. It's probably artistic directors' idea but hope they know better nowadays
No one gave a flying in the 90’s
Apart from the fact that they are in make up to look fat, what part of the video specifically pokes fun at them because they are obese?
Has great taste in Football Clubs obviously!
Just the most melodic guitar player ever! F#ck$ng cosmic!🫡
