At the end of the 1977 tv concert Vernon speaks to the camera and says thanks to the fans for all the kind letters and that they will get around to answering a majority of them....I guess he keep his word...its nice to see proof that the family actually did try to reply to all. Great video 👏

I believe that white box on the kitchen wall was the intercom that allowed Elvis to call downstairs.
My guess also, some kind of intercom.
Or a rolodex
The item above the phones is similar to something that was in my childhood home, back in the 70s. I think the left section was designed to hold a notepad, so you could take messages. No voicemail back then. The larger area in the middle is corkboard. That's where you would post the messages, using thumbtacks. I think the right section was designed to hold a pencil or pen.

Wow, that would have been so cool to get a Valentine from Elvis in 1963! I so love when you point out the "old" and the "new" of Graceland, it is fun to see what used to be there compared to what is there today. Anyone who got to be "close" with Elvis was lucky enough, but then to get gifts from him or to live in his home, on the grounds-well that is amazing! When you show the changes to the back of the house, it helps to understand just how much everything changed. I know when I went to Graceland in 2019, I was surprised there was garages for all of Elvis's cars as I knew he had many. Oh how I would love to go back to Graceland with fresh eyes since watching your video's Ashley! I also love the Graceland sent thank you letters to fans who expressed their sorrow in losing Elvis. So very cool to have one of those as well. As always Ashley, you left no stone unturned! Fabulous video!

I have never been to the US or Graceland but did get the next best thing. In January or February 1990 an exhibition of Elvis memorabilia toured the UK. On display were jumpsuits, gold discs, his army uniform and other personal belongings. It was in my local City Hall in Perth Scotland and the exhibits were just roped off barely 3ft away. I took photos which i still have.

really good video ! , these are great pics and new angles i have not seen and some close up views also , i think the white box on the kitchen wall phone area is a intercom just for a certain area maybe the gate house ? but not sure , thats my guess ? , great video Ashley !

That was a lot to take in, tho very intresting I haven’t visited Graceland yet for various reasons the main reason is I live over seas , but in many ways Im lucky, because Im a member of ashleysadventures she are my eyes at the granceland mansion, that channel take deep dives in to all corners of Graceland !⚡

It's interesting that the thankyou card that Elvis's family sent out had the spelling of Elvis's name different to his eventual grave.

My Aunt Penny lived in this apt while she took care of Gene Smith's children. I was so happy to "find" it while on the VIP tour!
That’s so cool! Do you have any pictures of it from that time? Did you read Gene’s book?
@@ashleysadventures I did read his book. But no pictures unfortunately! Aunt Penny said they never took photos out of respect for Elvis' privacy. But the stories she told were great and I had always wanted to "find" the door to her room and can not believe I finally got to see it the last 2 times I went to Graceland! Penny passed in 2000 so she never got to see it again...

I didn't know about the Valentine's Day cards 💘 so that was also interesting!
One thing I noticed: On the "Thank You" cards sent out by Elvis's family, Elvis's middle name is spelled with "Aron".
On his gravestone his middle name is spelled "Aaron".
Sometimes it's the little things that have a way of sticking out at you.

Another great story. The white box looks like an old time intercom. When Ginger found Elvis, she called downstairs for help. Could that be the intercom that alerted the kitchen ? I guess with Elvis gone, it was no longer needed. Just my guess. Thanks for your story Ashley. Looking forward to the next one 😎

So I read somewhere that there were beams running across the ceiling when that was used as an apartment...I don't remember where I read this...but anyway, that picture has those kind of beams. My old house was built in the 70's and it had similar type beans. Anyway, I never knew it was authentic or not! Thank you for the response!
Yes! There were beams. I found an official document that describes the layout in detail I used in a video, but I can't remember which one atm. Pinterest is always a shady place and so far thats the only place that has that one photo. Of course I don't know for sure but as far as I know its not confirmed to be real

I was watching a Documentary about the Muscle Shoals recording studio. During the Percy Sledge interview he mentions a DJ that worked at WLAY. The DJ's name is Quin Ivy, and the 2 pictures they used of him....well, he looks like Elvis....I mean he could be his brother.
Something else is that one former WLAY DJ was none other than Sam Phillips.
Weird.
It makes you wonder, do you think, maybe, those white chairs in the hallway ARE the chairs in the living room today, but given a make over?? I also remember going into the Annex to look at exhibits.

Ok the layout on that drawing was really weird! I don't think that's accurate
Vernon and Dee lived there with her boys after Elvis returned from the army. It could have Vernon and Dee's bedroom with his and hers bathrooms.
Notice in the card the correct spelling of Elvis' middle name, changed on his marker in the memorial garden.

Many alterations to Graceland. I liked the original garage area, which was later modified. I had a friend who bumped into Charlie Hodge while he was in Londonin the late 80's. I have the photo he took with Charlie.
