Hi Jade, two tips that are not yet in the manual, (i'll include them in the next update) when you're looping steps with the looper; hold a looper indent and press any step. The looper will then loop starting from that step. Second tip: if you like the metronome it's good to know that you can change its time division on the fly by holding the tap button and selecting a new time division on the keyboard..
VERY nice tune at the end-wonderful example of using the key step pro! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the reaction to those who say "you're not minimalist"--ha! Those folks just aren't into synths--and can just leave the rest of us addicts alone!
So lovely to see another Eurorack system with cute stickers on it! (and not just the manufacturer and retailers' stickers lol) And such a lovely video in general, especially the song at the end... I wouldn't dare make something so lighthearted/chill on my own system but I'm so glad you're putting this energy out there
finally someone that likes the lights! my studio is dark with colored led lights and I love the atmosphere... in fact my whole house not a single room has direct bright lighting.... the colored leds from aquariums are part of the lighting but its mood lighting throughout my house...
YOU ALWAYS make the freshest beats and pieces. It’s not the gear I can tell, you have a very particular pair of ears that are constantly distinguishing and discriminating. It makes me ask, how much time does it take for you to ‘settle’ on any particular voice? It is something that you could spend forever searching for and sometimes never really be happy with. Very fitting your pattern, it matches your T-shirt. I am really happy for you, that you’ve found some sort of niche on RUclips, since you could be doing all the same stuff but no one would even know it. More selfishly I’m glad I found you because you’re really good and it’s to my benefit, I’ve liked all of it. Keep it up. THANKS AGAIN!!
love your explanations and tutorials as well. thank you for putting this stuff out there. the arturia keystep really doesnt have that many tutorials and some of the other ones don't explain things for us that are beginners so very helpful coming here.
Hopefully they announce the black one soon so it'll match my setup. This is exactly what I need. Picked up the BruteS2 instead of the Beatstep Pro, glad I did now.
I think this has more in common with the BeatStep Pro and more likely the successor to that machine than the KeyStep despite the name. It looks more like the added on a keyboard and an extra track to the BeatStep Pro as well as a few other enhancements. I might be oversimplifying things here. Very nice video though.
I kind of think its not quite really. I think all the Arturia controllers are awesome though. Beatstep pro has fantastic velocity sensitivity of the pads, does complex rhythms, triggers samples/envelopes with 8 gates...it's kind of a beast really. And the interface is more to 'tweak' melodies, and play beats/samples/triggers. The Keystep Pro looks perfectly slotted for that player that is primarily sequencing melodic work, but doesn't want to switch to pads as an interface (although of course you can do keys on pads...it's just kind of weird to me). The KP can fully lay down a beatstep sequence, but you're going to be *playing* melodies on the keys, not hitting pads.
Hi! I like the sounds coming out of your modular system. It happens too often that I feel people using modules don’t really know what they’re trying accomplish or they’re not good at it, I don’t know... I collect Korg volcas last couple years but the built in sequencers don’t have enough length and storage capacity. This Arturia seems very nice. Thanks for your video!!!
Love my KSP.. so quick and easy to jam out the starting point of a track without complex routing or computer.. comments about other more powerful modular sequencers miss the point, that this is about usability and workflow to unlock creativity..
Nice track at the end! I’m considering buying one of these. Seems like it would be great for a few desktops or rack mounted gear as well. Anything really. Well I’ll be waiting on that Arturia Keystep Pro 8 to come out as well. That’s 8 sequences at once 😂 💕
Hi Jade,I want connect ipad pro to keystep pro.Now I know that AUM app.But I don't know how to use the interaction between Aum and ipad pro?And How to operate several loop modes?
Nice piece of gear but almost one year later and the dark edition has not hit the stores yet. My minibrute and beatstep are dark so it would look kind of wierd to not have the dark keystep pro beside them. I'm looking at you Arturia!! Well.. Thanks for the video! :-)
honestly ...cool...like that your content shows your gear i thought i was in a space ship when i was young but your beyond.well diffrent time for me..oohh do i miss. but gonna get what i need to make my gear sing again. and yes yes why not 8....ohhh please 8
Love your channel and your genuine excitement about the KSP, it transmits more about the product than any features-listing review could. I’d be all over the KSP, but the thing that keeps me from buying one is that switching midi channels on the fly on this keystep edition has been made seemingly impossible. Reading the manual it seems that, to change the midi channel, there’s some menu diving necessary. That’s a shame for me, ‘cause I’ve got a bunch of gear chained up and organised across all 16 channels, so here it seems I’m forced to choose between four instruments to control directly via the tracks and then if I want to jam over those with another instrument, I have to go into the Utility Menu to change the midi channel. Well, maybe I’ll have to get a Squarp Pyramid to place between my Keystep and my gear, after all.
@@1_of_4 Haven't found that in the manual though. Another thing that's going to make a lot of people mad is the missing global transpose. It can only transpose what's currently in focus. So forget about transposing a whole song in a live setting, if you have to step through each track one after another thats not gonna play well.
Jade, i’m checking this video out again. I have the key step pro and the MPC key 61 and now I’m thinking about the Oxi one. But I know I am subject to GAS, and it’s not clear in my head what the heck I really need for sequencers. Do you have any thoughts on why it would make any sense for someone to have the key step pro and the MPC Key 61/37? And are you going to check out the 0xi one? Thanks so much.
Definitely overkill, think of the sequencer as your brain, the keys is already an amazing external sequencer, the oxi looks dope for non keyboardist, if you’re looking for something different than the keys I’d try the oxi, but my real advice would be to take that gas energy and watch some keys tutorials instead, your brain just wants something to focus on, it can be obsessing and looking for new gear or learning new things, strive for that 💪
I'm trying to play a keystep 37 through korg volca bass but getting very low volume output and volume fluctuation. The keystep works fine through a volca nubass and fm. I've had a search where people have similar issues but not the same as I have. Any ideas what could be going wrong? Thanks.
Not sure how MIDI would affect volume, so maybe it's the volca. OR hmm, you said BASS? If I remember correctly, I believe the Bass has 3 parts. Not sure if they can be assigned to 3 different MIDI channels or not, but that would be my best bet so look into the BASS MIDI settings. Hope that helps!
Thank you for a great demo etc . I'm thinking of replacing me regular keystep to get this so i can sequence my drumbrute, uno synth , td3 and microkorg what do you think ?
Thank you again for another awesome video. I have just gotten into eurocrack and have the novation sl mk3 but its cv out what I bought it for is lacking. This was so informative. Keep the videos coming stay safe. Thank you
*vaguely sexist music nerd voice* But JAde HOW CAN YOU CALL YOURSELF a minimalist WHEN YOUR EURORACK is covered in POKéMON, espousing A "COLLECT 'EM ALL" philosophy, (Page 1 of 13)

Minimalism is about having only things you need or that matters and is important to you, so if you care about having all that gear, you shouldn’t be afraid or fell guilty for buying more. Only get rid of things you don’t really need!
Nice quick overview and a great track at the end ... one pedantic thing, though ... Keystep was the predecessor of the Keystep Pro, not the other way round! The "pre" in "predecessor" means "before". Keystep Pro is the progeny or descendant of the Keystep.
I never buy desktop synths because of lack of keyboard(with the exception of the Crave which I use as a third synth voice for my Minibrute 2). I am more of a piano/keyboard player than someone who likes to program sequences. This seems perfect for me. Glad I held out instead of just getting a keystep. Will be picking this up once coronavirus is over and I start working again.
Iván Valencia - that sounds pretty pessimistic to me! Hospital admissions falling in most European countries as we speak. Zach - I'm the opposite to you, much prefer desktop synths. But it lacks the drum pads of beatstep pro; it’s definitely it’s own thing imho. It’s also missing some of beatstep pro’s features which is a bummer.
Lovely arrangement and sounds. Recently added a keystep pro to my setup, it’s making sequencing fun.
