Just visited the manufacturing plant and holy cow the way they build these with the components and materials makes this worth every penny for sure. Could not believe all that goes into these and the quality of the product and people who stand behind it!🤩
For reference, I had seriously considered buying a LUXE toy hauler back in 2019. I had done as much research as I time for and was planning to order one...then the pandemic struck and I never did order that unit. The reason I mentioned this is that the price I was expecting to pay for that LUXE back then would have been very close to what the PAUSE would go for now. Think about that for a moment. Both RVs are excellent on their own merits, but it's just scary to think how prices have skyrocketed.
Boy, a lot of sensitive souls commenting. It’s funny how few of the commenters understand pricing. The R in RV stands for Recreational. It’s a want, not a need. Would I pay that much? No. That is above my disposable income threshold. Is it worth it? It’s worth whatever the market will bear.

You made a very good point. The tow vehicle for this type of unit is actually going to cost as much as the RV itself. Your typical F450 isn’t going to be able to take this unit where it can go. You’ll need a beast of a truck to even come close to what this RV can handle.
@@TrixieFender And your truck doesn’t have a 1/4 of the ground clearance that trailer does. You’re going to need something like Matt’s off road wrecker to challenge that RV.
I think this is an interesting trailer. The construction, the materials, the air suspension, and the solar/battery system compete with maybe a half dozen similar trailers. Palomino aren’t competing on price, but on materials and solar. Conqueror is probably my favorite for the layout and capability. Xplore beats them on the performance of the thermal envelope. Also, Pause seems to be going after Airstream customers with the residential feel inside. I like the 5th wheels and park trailers too. Thanks for the variety, JD.

Would love to see this compared to Harvok (who has told me they are constructing a plan to come to the US). Harvok is priced less than 100k US in Australia. 1000 watts of power, currently 48 volt 9.6kwh battery. All electric interior. True off grid capable. All welded aluminum skin and body frame. Base frame is steel, dipped (not basically rattle canned like 99% of US trailers) and has a Cruisemaster suspension (air upgrade available) and off road coupler. Washer/dryer, proper table and seats.

It is damn expensive. I looked at it and chose an Imperial Outdoors X 195. The X 195 meets my needs better. Way too many bells and whistles for me. I have found that the most limiting factor for off road use is the tow rig now. Not many 3/4 or one ton stock rigs are capable to towing the X 195 to it's potential off road. Not for most RV's.
I am no structural engineer, and have not seen this unit in person. But for being touted as an offroad "Overland" RV, that aluminum frame has a lot of brackets, bolts and rivets. Leading me to wonder how much off road abuse this frame would be able to take. There's a reason most RV frames are made out of steel, while aluminum is lighter, steel is stronger. I'm curious how much testing went into this frame. Also that suspension appears to be steel. Aluminum and steel are dissimilar metals and when bolted together, are subject to considerable galvanic corrosion.
We just spent half a week at the factory. The frame has gone through extreme testing. All the steel to Aluminum has coating to prevent corrosion. Also, they did 1000 hours of salt blasting and put it on a test track and ran it for an equivalent to 25 years of usage. The aluminum is extremely thick with lots of extra strength added. Not sure if there is a frame that is stronger. It was incredible to spend days at the factory seeing how this goes together.
The difference between this trailer and a TRX or Raptor is engineering. There is far more engineering that goes into a highly capable offroad rqce truck. Thats why they are $100k plus. So yes those trucks have far greater value then a trailer like this.
Very well said. But beings I’m a poor ass working man. I don’t have to like the wealthy show off who buys it. And yes I am jealous. That’s why I’m so angry. 😊
As someone who has studied RV design and construction for over 10 years, to include those offered by Australia and South Africa, the size of this camper detracts from the capability of it's components. The suspension may be an upgrade over torsion axles but with the low ground clearance of that suspension, you will find yourself snagging on a lot. If the bar was a Geo Pro, they have exceeded it however.... $140k is for 1%ers who will probably never take it where it was designed to go. Kinda like a Hollywood Range Rover that never leaves the pavement. Kudos to those who can afford it. I would argue that I could build a "one-off" that is just as capable (maybe not as many frills), more manageable, doesn't require a one ton 4x4 to pull it and come in at a 3rd of the price. Just my 2 cents.
This trailer does have a lot of expensive components that for sure. The whole thing is a new design and wonder if it has been tested enough and time will tell. My feeling is it's maybe 20% overpriced. But hey if your budget is up words of 150k for a trailer your likely not going to finance and will pay cash. So at this level of wealth who cares if it's a bad time to buy an RV.
The trailer has gone through more testing than almost any trailer we have seen. Pause has spent millions developing and testing it. They built 4-5 prototypes before ever even releasing the first production unit. The amount of testing is much more than anything we have seen.
@ROA OFF-ROAD ROAMER Pause Xplore Patriot Conqueror I stand corrected on the testing aspect. I guess my point was more geared toward the chassis and the what appears to possibly be carbon steel gussets bolted on aluminum members holding up over the years. As well as the brand new more ride suspension. I suppose it's impossible for new designs to be tested for longevity. That Garmin system just seems like it could be glitchy and manual controls seem limited.
