Thank you guys for this insightful one. It needs to be touched on. When you talked about Christian designers setting the standard, it reminded me of my mom. She is a seamstress. Anytime someone brings a style for her to sew, if the neckline or back is too low, the dress is short or the sleeves are barely there (hanging or even non-existent), she tells the client directly that she won't sew it. She offers to do it the decent way but if you still insist on YOUR style, she advises them to take it somewhere else. She will not sew that. Most of the young ladies in town avoid her shop because of that but she did set a standard of modest dressing after all. 😊🥰
I think the root cause of some of these dress trend issues and even other areas is 'low self-esteem'. Many people want the validation, that's the only way they feel accepted. It starts from building confidence in our children as we raise them. When your child comes home to say, "mummy everybody in my class is carrying Barbie bag" Let the child understand what standing out is called by making them feel good carrying something entirely different from a Barbie bag. It is possible to feel inferior despite having something really expensive when every other person is following a trend that is so cheap due to low self-esteem. This is the major problem of the body of Christ. Back in the days, when you see a lady on natural hair, you definitely know she is a Christian, but along the line, most Christians struggled with it and began relaxing their hair(not judging that to be wrong though) but I believe a few persons confidently carried around that natural hair and maintained it well till even those outside the church began to admire it and pick it up as a style and a trend. Notice that immediately the world accepted it, it became a trend that even the church now wants to go back to. We must become the standard that others can follow. The world should not set standards for us.

I am not sure how it is in Nigeria but where I live you have to really look online to get something suitable for a believer and if we are not careful compromising creeps in and we start to give excuses and try to go with what we can find. I really wish I could sew. Thank God for the Holy spirit who continues to remind us of whose we are.

My own contribution to this now is that those who are enlightened should on a more regular basis create such contents, take pictures, make nice videos flaunting your decent dresses. I read Genesis and saw the mention of nose ring. Then I was saying "so nose ring is good because it's in the Bible" . However, the same Bible says everything is good but not everything is expedient. I have concern in my heart concerning christian dressing in this generation. There is a mix up, there seems to be no difference sometimes between a Christian dressing and a worldly dressing. we should remember that we are the light of the world even in dressing, why should we break the command of God because of trend?
