    That short was released a while ago. I was wondering what system that was from

    As a Paperwork Pantheon fan, it was super cool seeing all the mechanics you tested in Luck fights and the Divine Contract come together here, and I can't wait to see where the system goes!

    3:19 the one thing I will say is that this would make power balancing a bit off with wide gap between a roll without bonus dice and one with even with just one,one would solution I can think of while which would still keep the system of bonus dice would be using different dice for ever step higher in power from a d4-d10 maybe.

    So, one thing I did was have armor be a sort of secondary health bar which also protected you against debilitating effects. I separated it into physical and magical, and of course robes had tea high magical protection while heavy armor had really high physical. Certain effects like knock down couldn’t be applied till you took out the enemies physical armor while an enemy’s magical armor won’t do anything to prevent knockdown.

    This game sounds so cool! Right off the bat, the resource management is AMAZING, the stacks and secondary dice are very unique and cool! The example class seems to interact with the mechanics pretty well. I hope to see more soon, man! For the fireball!

    I development my own system just to play with a few friends. Totally appreciate the undertaking that this is! Your system still sounds like a lot of math, but you seem to be on a very good way to make it easy and fast enough. Would be exciting to see you playtest it with people on the channel!

    Hello Mr Offbeat. I love the ideas you are throwing around and this game sounds very interesting however I would like to point out a consequence of the action points system. I believe that action points will make it harder to specialize due to odd numbers. If you have 3 stack abilities each costing 2 action points you will have one left over meaning multiclassing will focus on pairing 3 cost abilities and 2 cost abilities. Although i know very little about the system I just wanted to make sure that this quirk was accounted for due to this game seeming like it has a massive amount of potential.

    It sounds interesting but to put in my two cents I think you need to consider the book keeping more.
    If you want a good example of bad vs good look at encumbered in dnd vs pathfinder 2e/starfinder.
    Pathfinder made three buckets, Bulk, Light Bulk and negligible. Instead of counting the actual weight of items you count the bulk which reduces the numerical score to say 5 and an item might be +1 bulk.
    This makes the job of the game master and the player easier thus making it more likely they will use this mechanic. Because let us be real, we all homebrew the mechanics we don't care about to be more interesting or not matter.
    The stacks sound interesting but only if I as a player am only keeping track of one or two. If I need a note pad to track five or six count stacks and my immediate bleed stack, I am going to not have fun.
    Similarly as a game master if I throw 8 goblins at my party and the part of 4 gives each goblin a different stack that is 32 stacks I have to manage.
    I get the goal for players is to layer buffs and debuffs for one mega attack, but the bookkeeping needs to stay low.
    I will say the idea of actions and reactions all being from the same pool is interesting as it makes me think of two things right away.
    First is healers would be better as they could be more reactionary doing little on there turn, but very active on others to mitigate harm.
    The other is how often players could shout "you activated my trap card!" when enemies meet conditions for a trigger.

    I would consider the pitfall of requiring too many dice. Some people don't buy that many so you could be limiting your player/customer base. Decide whether or not that's something you're concerned about.

    With the Armor Mechanic does this also work for player characters? Maybe I missed you specifying that in the video but does Player armor Also just take a chunk out of the damage dealt. Can I become an unstoppable colossus of steel if I stack Armor buffs? Love the idea of the system love the sound of the Hexdancer looking forward to trying it out. FOR THE FIREBALLLLL!

    I love your idea but have questions/worries about accessibility.
    Since not everyone has the ability to own multiple sets of dice is there a dice agnostic way to play the game that you feel comfortable recommending people use to play your game? Ex: A rolling app, a friendly wink and nudge to let others use your dice because it's "even more like YOU are helping your friend."
    Hex dancer ALSO sounds sick but also incredibly difficult to track? "Constantly throwing up walls" Is that like a permanent wall or like a temporary wall? Is this all theater of mind and you all agree to the scouts code that the walls are where you said the walls are? If not is it supposed to be battle mapped and scrawled and erased every time? This Class has such a wonderful concept but I wonder if it will be inaccessible for mini play or unfun to have to constantly manage in a mental headspace.

    I calculated the likely hood of rolling 40 (or any given number) on 1D20 and 5D8 and it is 1/655,360
    /here is the math i used/ 1D8 to the power of how many D8 you will use times 20 (20= the D20 you use)

    Sounds cool, my only concern is that in many games status effects like this can be difficult to keep track of. I'm sure you already know about this problem and have some ideas on how to solve it. I'm excited to see what kind of method you come up with to keep track of multiple stacks of status effects.

  • @TKnightcrawler
    @TKnightcrawler Год назад

    You know, the more dice you roll, the less variance you'll have in the rolls. That goes against your reason for using a D20 in the first place.

  • @thekaxmax
    @thekaxmax Год назад

    have a look at Dungeon Fantasy, works nicely for D&D-style even though it's not levelled and uses 3d6--I far prefer a bell curve for results. I'm using it for Forgotten Realms.
    For stacking huge results, Quest Worlds. Uses a d20, nothing else, so it doesn't have the feature of using all your dice. But I've seen results over 100 on a d20 roll.

    One thing I hope wont happen is this game falling into the pitfalls of the Exalted rpg series (maybe study it to see what NOT to do) of the Rocket Tag : becoming a back and forth of not being hit until one character rolls low or runs out of resource to roll well and die in a single hit.
