I was told by my SD that I have to trust God more. I depend too much on myself. I didn’t quite know how and when I do this. And yes that is called too self reliant. And it was a block. TY God Bless!
Dear Ken, I am suffering with a serious bout of shingles on my face, with swollen eye shut, terrible flu symptoms and malaise. With this comes what could be called a venial sin, where I have become so absorbed in feeling so sick (worldly focus) that I cannot rise to the occasion and feel God's Presence all around me like I usually do. I am clearly in the illumative stage with profound suffering (from other trials and ailments)...but am also getting blocked by venial sin....your talk helped me refocus myself....self absorption subsides when I am reminded (thanks to you) of the truth.....that God is always with me, no matter if I am in deep darkness or not.....all I have to do is "change the channel" and remember! A great teacher once said: "remember to remember...always remember to remember" (God of course) So thank you for your "illumative" talk so I change the channel....deeply healing! I often find myself conflicted about just staying away / avoiding people who disturb my spirit...Sometimes I'm not sure if it's pride or unforgiveness, especially if it's after an action from them that leads me to cut ties, but I feel strongly it is better for me to stay away and pray for them. Sometimes I don't trust my own decisions in these matters, but this video has helped put this in perspective, it's like God is answering my conflictions and saying it is okay & to trust my spirit!🙏

I have family members who spend 85% of their time watching news And abou 2 % praying. If they instead would watch spiritual news as provided on social media as a source of spiritual encouragement and getting closer to God and praying for the world they would have peace the light of truth. Jesus said " I am the light of the world.'"

Can you provide something to explain and describe a good examination of conscience at the most basic level. I have seen yours and other's videos on the subject, but it always leaves me wondering. So helpful!!!! Especially the part where if it takes you away from your present duty, it might not be coming from God. I have been experiencing that. For example I am listening to many You Tube videos that are holy, inspirational and I am learning a lot, but I also am realizing that during all this, although I am floating from joy, I am not getting my chores done. hi Ken, your and Janelle's channel, help me to be a better catholic every day. I had to say thankyou for your video. I spend most of my day alone in a wheelchair with my laptop.. Right from the start of this phase of my life (i was very active up to a couple of years ago living an ordinary catholic life), I have embraced the opportunity to slowdown and pray daily in a routine. While I was a good catholic (or so I thought) , I was ticking the 'checklist' weekly (mass, confessions, charity, etc etc), , I was merely in a routine. I focused too much on my very busy day with with 'dutes of that day ' from the moment I woke up to when I dropped to sleep from exhaustion. Often working around the clock.. I wanted to give feedback so you know that you and Janelle know that your efforts to prepare and produce your channel really do change lives for the better. I really get the message of this video. May 4, 2023 Yesterday’s experience is not good enough for today. Sometimes we stay in stage 1 for a long time. Suffering comes in all forms not just in physical pain don’t you think?
Good stuff. You touched on a theme not often preached today. So often a dualistic construction of Good / Evil is the rhetorical framing. More dangerous is the almost benign, ignorant carelessness. The "gentle slope", so to speak, that guides us ultimately to perdition.

This is very helpful. This why it's important for believers to KNOW the bible and what G-d deems sin to thowart bad leadership and their hinderence in our relationship with our Lord.. Thanks for the reminder Ken. I was saving this video for this Sunday and watched today in light of the Gospel " Do not let your hearts be troubled". Our prayer team is encountering Christ through a retreat tomorrow afternoon about this Gospel, and your meditation today reminded me of the importance of knowing the 3 stages of the spiritual life. What stood out to me was St. Catherine of Sienna's comment that all three stages can be in a person at the same time. You are humble to say that you have not experienced the unitive stage, but I would say the constant desire to be "with Him, in Him and through Him" shines through. It shines through you and many others I know. I would say that personally I don't experience in my definition "complete joy" even though I experience what I think is the "unitive stage" but instead "complete peace". There's a certain sense of solemnity ... for to me I experience how the worlds' sins become my sins.... because of the illumination of seeing how all my sins affect others and how the world's sins affect me.. However!! and that's a big HOWEVER!! ..... "because by your Holy cross you have redeemed the world", therefore all suffering is OPPORTUNITY... which doesn't eliminate all joy but exudes it into a perfect peace. Therefore we anticipate suffering with great joy because of the peace it produces in our hearts.

I have family members who spend 85% of their time watching news And abou 2 % praying. If they instead would watch spiritual news as provided on social media as a source of spiritual encouragement and getting closer to God and praying for the world they would have peace the light of truth. Jesus said " I am the light of the world.'"

So helpful!!!! Especially the part where if it takes you away from your present duty, it might not be coming from God. I have been experiencing that. For example I am listening to many You Tube videos that are holy, inspirational and I am learning a lot, but I also am realizing that during all this, although I am floating from joy, I am not getting my chores done. So thank you Ken and especially thank you Holy Spirit for Ken who listened to your holy inspiration and made this video.

hi Ken, your and Janelle's channel, help me to be a better catholic every day. I had to say thankyou for your video. I spend most of my day alone in a wheelchair with my laptop.. Right from the start of this phase of my life (i was very active up to a couple of years ago living an ordinary catholic life), I have embraced the opportunity to slowdown and pray daily in a routine. While I was a good catholic (or so I thought) , I was ticking the 'checklist' weekly (mass, confessions, charity, etc etc), , I was merely in a routine. I focused too much on my very busy day with with 'dutes of that day ' from the moment I woke up to when I dropped to sleep from exhaustion. Often working around the clock.. I wanted to give feedback so you know that you and Janelle know that your efforts to prepare and produce your channel really do change lives for the better. I really get the message of this video. Good stuff. You touched on a theme not often preached today. So often a dualistic construction of Good / Evil is the rhetorical framing. More dangerous is the almost benign, ignorant carelessness. The "gentle slope", so to speak, that guides us ultimately to perdition.

This is very helpful. This why it's important for believers to KNOW the bible and what G-d deems sin to thowart bad leadership and their hinderence in our relationship with our Lord.. Thanks for the reminder Ken. I was saving this video for this Sunday and watched today in light of the Gospel " Do not let your hearts be troubled". Our prayer team is encountering Christ through a retreat tomorrow afternoon about this Gospel, and your meditation today reminded me of the importance of knowing the 3 stages of the spiritual life. What stood out to me was St. Catherine of Sienna's comment that all three stages can be in a person at the same time. You are humble to say that you have not experienced the unitive stage, but I would say the constant desire to be "with Him, in Him and through Him" shines through. It shines through you and many others I know.
I would say that personally I don't experience in my definition "complete joy" even though I experience what I think is the "unitive stage" but instead "complete peace". There's a certain sense of solemnity ... for to me I experience how the worlds' sins become my sins.... because of the illumination of seeing how all my sins affect others and how the world's sins affect me..
However!! and that's a big HOWEVER!! ..... "because by your Holy cross you have redeemed the world", therefore all suffering is OPPORTUNITY... which doesn't eliminate all joy but exudes it into a perfect peace. Therefore we anticipate suffering with great joy because of the peace it produces in our hearts.
