Step 1 Casting

Step 2 Rolling
The gold or silver strips are fed into the rolling machine. The machine rolls them to the required thickness. For precision, ensure that you reduce the roller speed so you can control the strip thickness directly.
Step 3 Blanking
This step involves using the coin cutting machine. Its function is to punch out the required shape of the coin. Once cut out, the coins can be taken to the next stage of the process.
Step 4 Annealing

I have spent a lot of money to start my micro-mint.
Including $450 on a cnc milling machine that nobody can figure out how to run.
I have a 6 ton press to cut out my blanks ($150).
I have another 6 ton press to stamp the designs onto the coins ($150)
I have my first set of fabricated coin dies being made now ($500).
I have a hand crank rolling mill to make my initial thick sheets from the pours..($350). But still need another to reduce sheets to cutting thickness ($350).
I have an electric melting furnace ($350) to melt the silver.
I have graphite crucibles that set down in the melter to melt silver in ($50 each).
And soon will either buy or build a burnishing machine to polish my blanks.
And I have a supplier to buy my silver.

So... You can do it. But be prepared to spend some cash.
And silver is running around $25 to $30 per ounce. Check daily spot price on line...buy when price is low.

@@raywill I am not "there" yet. My first stamping dies are being made as we speak. And I still have more equipment to buy. Such as polishing machine. And while I believe my current 6 ton presses will be sufficient... It could be they are too small and I may need to buy larger presses...like 8 ton or 12 ton or even a big 20 ton... I don't know.
But...given small size of my presses... I know I will have to have blanks be a
little hot...to keep metal soft...for striking.
Having a shoestring budget, I have to save for every piece of equipment...(no bank loans)...makes it tough slow going.
But , as I said... I fully understand the process and what things I will need.

You have to have some kind of accurate scale to weigh the blanks. Accept only those within your target parameters.
Example... My coins will be 5 gram coins. (Not the big 1 oz coins.) I will only accept blanks weighing 5.0 to 5.25 grams for stamping. Anything over or especially under this will be rejected.
You cant cheat customer...but you also cant be too generous.

Now I know a 20 ton is sufficient.
