Great video thank you. I'm replacing Ring doorbell with Aqara G4 Doorbell this weekend, do you think face recognition will unlock the U200? Would I need an aqara hub or mini homepod? I have a smartthings hub as well as Echo Show 8 and Google Nest Wifi which are all Matter compatible.
I see some people in the Kickstarter program have received their U200s and yes Homekey is included. I’m looking forward to your review when you get one 😊
I’ve been reading a lot of posts downplaying the chances of this lock being approved for Homekey. The issue is that the keypad connects wirelessly to the lock and isn’t via a cable. You therefore get secure connection from iPhone/watch to keypad but Aqara proprietary wireless connection to lock. Lets hope the pessimists are wrong 🤞
They demo’d it working at CES and in their press release when they launched the kickstarter said they were working with Apple to get homekey support so I’m hopeful it will happen. I guess we’ll find out for certain when it ships in June!
Yes, this is actually the lock I want to have and willing to replace my Nuki. The only downside what I learned from this video is that you need to have the outside keypad to enable HomeKey. I want to avoid any outdoor elements that shows that I do have a smart lock. I do not thrust fingerprint scanners or codes to access my house.
You can actually fit a Nuki to any uk door, the ultion model just provides an easier housing for it so I think the Aqara will work the same so you’d probably mount it over your existing key or thumb turn
It says nothing there about hardwire? it says "There will be two models to choose from. The more affordable model is powered by AA batteries, while the slightly more expensive model comes with a rechargeable battery." Both appear to be battery products and not hardwired products
It’s not confirmed yet but based on the locks it will be competing against I would expect it to however, you’ll still need to lift the handle as per most other locks for these types of doors
I was really happy when I saw this video in my recommendations, but it is only talking about a subjective lock that has not been released yet. I thought that you got your hands on one. But thanks for the video anyway. I can't wait for the lock to be released.
@@MarksTechVlogsHello, could you please share that kickstarter page? I couldn’t find it. If this thing is really happening, than I’d rather wait for this than get a nuki.

Thank you! I am not so familiar with the kickstarter campaign. Does it mean that this product is only available through the kickstarter campaign? and it wont be in stock after campaign ends? Could you please help me with this? @@MarksTechVlogs
If it works like most kickstarter campaigns then kickstarter is a way to pre-order items often at a discounted price and you usually have to wait a few months to receive them…the lock will eventually end up for sale on aqara’s website and amazon after kickstarter orders have been processed and the product is officially launched
@@MarksTechVlogs hmm I also can't find this info on their site. The switchbot lock Pro does support knob cylinder, so I'm still not sure which one to choose.
I have a thumb turn mechanism and reached out to Aqara about the likelihood to support. I got this response The U200 is designed with versatility in mind to accommodate a wide range of door setups. However, it primarily functions with lock mechanisms that are compatible with its smart lock features, which typically involve electronic control over locking and unlocking actions. For doors equipped with a thumb turn internal lock and without a key option on the inside, it's important to assess whether the U200's installation and operational mechanics align with your current setup. The U200 typically replaces traditional key-operated locks with a smart mechanism that allows for electronic control via our app, physical keys, and in some models, biometric options like fingerprint scanning. We often recommend consulting with a professional installer. From that generic answer, I think it’s highly unlikely a thumb turn is currently considered
@@stevenkingsley7781 thank you for your reply, but I found another answer from Reddit: "There will be some adapters, so we will wait for more info, seems like they are getting ready for same support as NUKI and will include more adapters in future as they stated in comments." So I'm still hoping for some adapters with the U200. Otherwise there is probably someone who can 3D print it.
@@xileS1337 agreed, I’m keen to use this lock but I want it to come from manufacturer only. Any mods you make, regardless of the type will likely invalidate everything. The Nuki was my reference in response to Aqara, it’s not a hard thing to do so if you want to make a genuine retrofit option it has to scale

U200 Kickstarter going live on Tues 27th apparently.
Love the video, you should consider getting a better mic, sounds very tinny
Already backed it up on kickstarer, will replace my nuki pro 3
Has your installation video been delayed? Why have you pulled your U200 unboxing short?
It has been delayed, it’ll be out on the 9th which is when Aqara have officially announced the release of the u200 will be 😀

It’s probably a bit early to know I’m afraid…would be a cool feature to have though if it does 😀
I have done it with Nuki lock if you and I can show you 😅

will this work with a UK multilock door?
I’m expecting it to but it’s not confirmed yet

That is the only downside although there’s no reason why you have to programme in any fingerprints or keycodes!
Not sure how you could fit this to a UK lift and lock door. Surely you would need something equivalent to the Ultion/Nuki partnership?

You have an excellent taste of music
According to a post I read on Reddit the U200 has been delayed ☹️
I believe it’s due to officially launch in June 🤞
Where did you get the information about the hardwire option? I can't find this anywhere? Did you make a mistake?

I’m guessing within the next month
Aqara RUclips Channel commented Q1, so before end of march on kickstarter.
Nuki already has all of this except for homekey
