I think the main reason the audio for the one Thugs for Less fight was cut was mostly due to the fact that Clank was included in the audio and having Clank with you for that fight was optional (meaning you could fight the boss before rescuing Clank). Also note that if you have Clank on your back during this fight, Clank does not show up in the cutscene at all, not even on Ratchet's back (despite being there when the actual battle starts). It's disappointing though; I would have liked the cut content to have been added since I see nothing wrong with the audio used. P.S: Same goes with the scene where Ratchet gets his second wrench; in the final scene Clank and Ratchet end up not being together at all due to having been split up. Sigh. Basically all of the cut scenes were cut because of Clank's absence. Sucks...
Well, that's the main drawback of making branching paths in the levels, the story and scenes become harder to develop, especially when a main character is temporaly absent. They also messed up in the Barlow hoverbike cutscene, though in the opposite way: Clank always appears in it despite the high chance that you still haven't rescued him in Endako.
The original final boss was going to be the real Fizzwidget instead. They changed it in the last minute when they realized Qwark still hadn't appeared in the entire game aside from a couple tv show clips, which would've crippled the development of his story in the trilogy. The end result was still disappointing, I agree. Sadly, they didn't put enough care on the plot this time.
The reason why they stopped special bolt weapon upgrades after RAC 1 is because now you can upgrade your weapons just by using them and in challenge mode you can buy mega weapon upgrades. In ratchet and clank 2 you could use the special bolt of the game which was platinum bolts to make upgrades to your weapon. (Lock on mod, Bigger blast, etc) but after RAC 2 they made the special bolts of the game so useless. In RAC 3,Crack in time and tools you can only use the special bolts for skins.In the recent games they are starting to fix the special bolts uselessness though. In Into the Nexus you need gold bolts to buy Omega weapons and in the RAC PS4 you could use it to unlock cheats.

One little thing is the 'Please Stop', 'Not Nice', Getting Angry' and 'Payback Time' messages are used in game on Todano as menu descriptions for the helpdesk messages you get if you keep killing the tourists as they're getting off the bus. Just thought I'd say in case no one else had, and because I remember I had a lot of fun when I discovered you could do that lol

There is still dialogue in game that reference that cut level. I don't remember exactly and word by word the cutscene but when Ratchet reaches to Angelia in her "place" after killing all the Proto-pets. From what I remember they talk about inflating the MegaCorp place and that maybe only one of their ships would probably pass the defenses or something like that. I don't remember it exactly so if someone can correct me and explain it better that'll be welcomed.
She says the orbital defences are nasty, so with two ships there's a good chance at least one of them will get through. (Ratchet: Just. Be. Careful. - Angela who trips: Right.)

The Battle Sphere refers to the Jamming Array orbiting Maktar Nebula. That's where that shortcut leads in the final game, even on the American version.

I'm trying to complete R&C Size Matters on the PS2 for the first time (recently got the game). Size Matters is a hard game to find for the PS2 (personally. I saw many many PSP versions). Could you do a comparison on the PSP and PS2 version if possible in the future? Thanks for reading :)
Size matters is a easy and fast game. The only thing that is hard about it is the races because of the shitty ass controls at least on the ps2. (The race controls are probably bad on the psp too)

i must say i'm quite sad that the attack ship was cut, that thing looks really cool and would of added a nice bit of variety to Greblin. The weapons too, that laser mine launcher looks like a loot of fun, not sure about the fire boots, looks like it could be boarderling broken OP against melee only units, still fun though.
I never imagined the splines being that complex! Very impressive to think that there aren't any real 'paths' for objects to take so instead, the developers painstakingly changed the values for each movement.

Hey there! Have you ever tried analyzing the PAL version of the PS2 game to see if it is possible to find the subtitles in that version? On PSVita, there are fully working subtitles, but it's basically impossible to record from it.
Maybe i'm mandella-ing here, but I'm pretty sure all those enemies from monsterpedia do exist in-game; the giant mech is the one from the clank fight; the troopers are in Megacorp HQ, and the ships fly around in the Thugs-4-Less homeworld, although i assume they were treated like props and not enemies.

It's completely possible, We just don't have the tools and the same knowledge as we have with the PS2 games yet, There's definetly more future mods coming in the near future though.
As far as I can remember, the song plays in my game everytime (pal version, platinum edition) and the enemies appear also, maybe there are some things that were fixed in later copies that were sold.

I'm pretty sure we got this build a few years ago off of somebody who was nice enough to share it with us after holding onto it for years. I no longer have the ISO on my PC but I know it is available online (as well as a few other Ratchet & Clank builds) with a little bit of searching. As for the audio files, I'm pretty sure I used an old program called 'PSound' that reads files for playstation audio files, you can drop the wads or the whole ISO into it.
Why in my copy of this game does Ratchet have pain and grunt sounds personally done by James Arnold Taylor instead of them recycling the first like the rest?
Do you know any ways in cheat engine to give yourself the flame boots or the mine launcher gun in the September 4th build of RaC2? I really wanna play around with the weapons alongside the native debug build but have no clue what values I gotta look for to get them. Not sure if there’s any actual pnach cheats for them either, that works on the Sept 4th beta anyway.

IIRC the text that appears after you beat the game telling you about challenge mode also says "before you beat qwark"
