As an Englishman, I will miss Mhairi Black's voice and contributions in parliament. She speaks for far more than her constituents, party members and fellow Scots.
The old Torys still haruumphting and laughing at "Damascan conversions" and the King wearing Scottish colours
Totally in touch!
As an SNP member, I really appreciate your comment. Thank you
She's my MP & I believe this is the first time I've ever been disappointed by my MP buggering off. We so desperately need more like her, not less.
Her comment about 'both leaving at the same time!' Priceless from the superb Mhairi Black! 😉😄
What a relief that the poll suggest SHE will lose HER seat that’s why, the same as the nutter Sturgeon, SHE has to stand down to save HER face!
This is the sort of politician the UK needs. Terrible that she’s leaving.
She studied politics and went to parliament straight from uni. There’s loads of politicians like that.
Nah it really isn't SNP MSPs are expendable just like Tory MPs, shei is no great loss to us Scots
She can go back on the snow then
@@leehenry5764 and you can go on forever crying about immigrants, little flag tugger.
Yeah the type of politician we need, in that she isn't a Tory.
That was an absolute belter.
Why anyone would think a political party that totally believes in everything being Privatised would 'honestly' do their very best to make a NATIONALIZED health service work is beyond me.
If that were the case, 13 years of government would have guaranteed there would now be no -private- public sector.
And yet many do. Smart people argue that while the NHS is being funded by less than half of what it was under Labour from government income (pre-global financial crash), the population is living longer now so even if the NHS was being funded at 10% it still wouldn't be enough. Let's test that theory.
@@kasegiyabu5030 There's almost no country.
The NHS is slowly being privatised by these scumbags anyway 😢

She's a good person. Think thats why shes leaving this rat nest.
She's leaving to save her political career following an inevitable loss at the next election. She's a coward who only cares about herself.
Very sad to hear that mhairi Black is leaving. She speaks far more sense than most in Parliament.
I'm not sad
Its so she can run for MSP and be the future leader of the party.
@@user-he8qx5nv7y I hope that is the case. She would be great.

Going to miss her. Great orator and example of how an MP should be.
Pretty much the only example.
She left because she knows the SNP will get pumped at next election
Pure narcissism. Blaming it on everything else but the actual real reason.
And you fools lap it up.
She’s hardly been in Parliament!! Look at her speaking record!! She’s a typical ‘young person’ of today - gobby, entitled, self righteous - and thinks she knows it all.
@@mogznwaz It looks like a man.
@@mogznwaz Maybe she is hardly in Parliament because its mostly talk and drama for the camera's and she would rather spend her time helping the constituents that elected her. Just because you don't see her on camera doesn't mean she isn't doing the job she was elected to do. I've yet to hear her say anything in parliament that wasn't accurate and saying how it is. If thats "Gobby, entitled and self righteous" to you then i wish more were like that maybe then we wouldn't have this cesspit of self serving liars we have now.
Such a shame she is leaving . Would have made a fantastic first minister for Scotland. Please don't go , the people of Scotland need you.
The people of the UK need you to hold these charlatans to account on both sides
Well she cld stand for msp and become fm after leaving westminster. So it may happen yet! Can but hope and pray.
As someone in England, I'd long for her to lead somehow!
She is only standing down as an MP in Westminster - she could still run for election as an MSP in Holyrood which I really hope she does.
@@TwitchingBombI'm hoping she'll go for FM eventually.
Mhairi Black is one of the few MPs brave enough to call out Brexit for the disaster that it is.
I think Mhari Black is great. But it isn't really brave to say that when it is official SNP policy (and appeals to their voters).
And to state publicly that the Conservative Party and the Labour Party both want to deny this.
@@WVislandia Again, how is that brave?? Labour's policy is that Brexit is a disaster, but not that we shouldn't have done it (which is SNP policy). Although I agree with the SNP on that, firstly it is too late, secondly the EU wouldn't let us back in yet and thirdly there aren't enough voters in England who agree that it was a mistake to vote leave yet.
@@weswheel4834 Absolutely agree 100%. Too many people are still waving their little flags waiting for the Lala land they've been promised.

She has a problem with Irish Catholics
@markporter3522...she gives it straight so will be missed. Sharp as a tack!
Gives you little hope when one of the most impressive MPs is leaving due to a toxic work enviroment. Sad. What an absolute incredible comeback though
The work environment in the UK in general is toxic. Countless lives and careers have been destroyed through bullying and nothing is done about it. Colleagues look the other way- no solidarity in most UK workplaces, and victims are on their own. Most unions are weak. Parliament reflects the state of this society and the public has what it deserves.

"Once again the Conservative party delivering for the NHS" It's beyond parody 🤣
@@adv957I'm pretty sure that a proper analysis over the last 75 years would indicate that the Torys are way way ahead on ruining the NHS. As they were originally against the NHS and are fundamentalist privatisers - then it's a pretty safe bet that they are the real guilty party here.
@@adv957 The NHS and Education were properly funded under the last Labour government and wait times were massively lower. There is no comparison, the Tories have run it down so that it can be privatised. Any announcements so late in the day from the Tories are just because there is an election looming. They'll soon withdraw any funding as soon as they can after the election (if they win), and then carry on with their privatisation plans. @@kyorin6526 To say I am not a fan of the Conservative Party and this current government is a gross understatement, but it shouldn't be ignored that the last labour government was responsible for more than a third of the PFIs signed for the NHS, and Sir Kier's attitude to privatisation flip flops with the wind, which should be of great concern.
I don't know what they answer is (it certainly isn't Tory), but I don't think Labour are the great hope we would like them to be. It's all looking a bit bleak.

Love Mhairi, a shock and a shame she's leaving politics. She is a breath of air in the House of Parliament, tell it in clear explainable English, no word salads, no going round in circles without giving an answer. She's make a great prime minister for the UK.
Mhairi is standing down because SHE knew SHE will lose HER seat because HER constituents are fed up with SNP. That’s just to save her face just like Sturgeon who knew she will eventually be arrested. She didn’t want to be the very first FIRST MINISTER to be arrested.
Like Tony Benn, she’s leaving parliament but not politics.
How is he allowed to lie so blatantly and say the NHS is thriving under the tories?
Because the checks & balances in place to prevent the lies and misinformation in parliament are not fit for purpose. They were introduced in an earlier era when MPs had principles, respect for the institution and knew truth was important. Sadly this has been tested and eroded over the last few years - they realise they can get away with it. And also they know that if most “ordinary” people hear something often enough they believe it.

Please dont go Mhairi, even though you dont even represent my area or even country I feel you represent us as the people better than anyone else in that house,
Your speeches are thoughtful and heartfelt, and you comebacks and putdowns are legendary 👏👏👏👏👏👏
It's such a shame that an Ideal example of what a politician SHOULD be (ie people focused working for progress in society etc) is leaving due to... in her words the "toxic" environment that is Westminster.
It really feels like a battle has been lost! The few good ones losing ground to the selfish greedy corrupt majority.
Who will fight for the people if all we have left is corporate owned mouth pieces?
Really makes me feel hopeless 😞
I wondered why she was stepping down. The raised eyebrow expression she gave to someone on her right at the end explained it. She speaks when and where it matters most. She has lost patience with the toxic culture within Westminster. She rightly protects her mental health.
The shame is that there aren't enough in the House willing to effect change.
Starmer is a corporate owned mouthpiece and I don’t see any improvement on the horizon if Labour get in , I know the tories are diabolical but will it get better?! I think not.
She's wasted on the front line of UK politics.
This is a tactical retreat to shore up the SNP's hold over Scotland, which has been weakened by a concerted English government effort since Sturgeon left ... utilising MI5 and police raids to arrest and interrogate Sturgeon as part of the smear campaign they hope will diminish the SNP (a motorhome? seriously?!) so they can take back Scotland.
Her homeland needs her, and she's answered the call.
Entertaining as she is, she can't do any good in this rats' nest of a parliament. The SNP has many talented Westminster members, but when Scotland is on the line, they need to retreat back to the keep at Holyrood and make sure that Scotland never gets "Torified" (which WILL occur if Labour gets back in in Scotland)
I still think Stephen Flynn is a superb young commander (only 34! I can't believe it!) in the heart of Westminster. His jokes at the expense of the Tories are priceless ... he doesn't need to retreat just yet .. he just needs to keep the Tories occupied with his dazzling wit!
[and by "Tory", I also mean "Labour" - because they are both the same. Parasites both who do not deserve power, but are gifted it due to a dreadful electoral system every time]
@@jazzx251imagine being so brainwashed by a politicial party that you believe they can do no wrong in any shape or form despite ongoing independent investigations

@@lisaglaze250 Indeed. But even these healthcare 'packages' would be very limited in what they would cover and there would be additional expenses which would have to be self-funded. The medications and services would also rocket in price as profit becomes the main impetus. I hope we don't go down that route. Time will tell.
In a lot of US health insurance “cover” the treatment they fund is limited. For example, either chemo or radiotherapy.
Nine years ago I was recovering from a second operation to remove lymph nodes after it was discovered that breast cancer had spread to over half the nodes under my armpit. Funny how the pm said yesterday (?) that he didn’t present the nhs recruitment plans to the house as it wasn’t their plans, but the NHS’s.
Also the deputy saying “did you not hear what we are doing?” - if only they followed protocol and presented it to the house correctly for them to listen!
Strong sense that they really believe they can do what they want with no consequences.
The Tories want people paying the same level of tax but also having to pay for healthcare
Privatisation hasn't reduced taxation levels in real terms at all but we now have to pay for services once provided by taxes.
And for the profits to pay the dividends which are much more important than investing in a monopoly service.
Since Reagan & Thatcher demonised direct taxation it has become the orthodoxy of neo-liberalism that taxation is an evil. Funny that the countries consistently topping the charts for the best and happiest places to live have maintained higher levels of direct taxes, applied progressively according to earnings and wealth, isn't it?
@@martincopeland8153 And for the little private health companies to have less clout against the drug companies, so we'll all be paying Pharma Bro prices for medicine.
Privatisation costs more. By defunding the NHS so they don't have all the health services available in-house, the government is funding expensive private specialist work at higher rates than it would cost if they made the funding for equipment and staffing available. Not only that, the cost of supply staff through private agencies to cover the shortfalls in staffing is exorbitant, and yet they STILL won't approve proper payrises for NHS staff. It's costing MORE (which is why they're claiming huge NHS funding) but large chunks of that funding is ending up with private companies. Its privatisation via deception.
