I got a call for a plugged toilet at work a few days ago! Apparently they tried plunging it before I did, but I only gave it one plunge and it cleared. I'm pretty sure most people don't understand how a plunger works.

Thanks for this and the closet auger video. I'm seriously considering investing in a closet auger. My one year old toilets don't give me anywhere near the trouble my 20+ year old toilets did, but I'd much rather be prepared then having to scramble when the toilet(s) need the service of a plunger and an auger. And, I now know why I've always thought those "traditional" plungers didn't work well for toilets. They're meant for sinks. No wonder they're useless in the toilet. And, I'm requesting a 2022 blooper review or a 2022 best bloopers video. Please.

Your channel is amazing - even for me, a teenager who doesn't have a career in any field. I do have a life path to go into the trades, and i'm stuck between technology/IT and electrician spots.
You make the plumbing trade seem welcoming, however i'd rather be wiring servers or outlets instead of messing around in raw sewage. Not exactly my thing!
I appreciate your channel, Mr. Wakefield. Keep going! Your content is very educational [not to mention entertaining] even for people who aren't in the trades at all or for people who are in a different trade.
    Keep being awesome!

Not a plumber but I’m a hotel engineer so I have to unclog toilets and urinals all the time, I’m gonna get one of those plungers you have for my tool cart because it looks like it works way better than the standard toilet plunger we’re provided. Especially on odd shaped bowls like our Toto brand toilets.

One thing I really hate is that the stores sell those sink plungers as toilet plungers. They’re not even flange plungers (which are designed for toilets and usually perfectly fine. However, as they’re a fair bit more rigid, they may have issues sealing against some toilets), so they should be sold as sink and tub plungers. I also hate that accordion plungers, which are sometimes essential due to the sheer amount of force you can get out of them, are almost always entirely plastic (no rubber, poor seal).
Also noticed you giving it a couple of slow pumps first. Definitely a good idea, as it clears as much air, which is compressible, as possible, and replaces it with water, which is incompressible.

I am a bit confused as to whether you are supposed to use the plunger to push the plugged object through on down the line or use the plunger to make a suction and draw the plugged object back into the bowl. I've seen it done both ways. Great video!
