I had never encountered the Land Cruiser until I went on UN duties in El Salvador in 1992. I was used to Bombardier Iltis, Kaiser M38A1 Jeeps, AMG M151A2 MUTTs, and Chevrolet 5/4 tons, all of which had serious shortcomings. The Land Cruiser worked well, not only in tropical mountain country, but also the mountains of Lebanon in winter when I moved to another mission in the summer. The Lebanese did a lamentable job of snow clearance on the Beirut-Damascus road, but the Land Cruiser with appropriate chains did not have a problem. Their diesels started without complaint in the Levantine winter. I wish I could find one here in Canada; they seem scarce as hens' teeth.
@@wishunter9000, I would not limit my search to the U.S., I will look in Mexico and Central America, as they have metric models. Hell, there might still be former UN Land Cruisers sold off as surplus after the missions ended.
Super fun/helpful. Two questions (as I am doing this exact job right now on my work bench): 1) Where can I find a list of torque specs (you mention a few but not all of them)? 2) What lubrications are you using? It seems like you have used two - one grey "sealant" (is that antiseeze?) and a red - (molly grease maybe)?
You're not. Ant was never the issue, nor is the new guy Elvis. The issue is the fact that the technical information is being removed from the show, and every single presenter has said that it was one of the main reasons they left.
@@BrendenPragasam that was one of the reasons Edd left, but as far as I know, Ant left because the show relocated back to the UK and he wanted to stay in the US with his girlfriend. Although that is not confirmed, at the same time, there is very little information as to why he left the show and none whatsoever to suggest it was due to the lack of mechanical content.
In the Australian bush you often find land cruisers tipped upside down in ditches some people put 24v Cummins diesels on many different 4wd manufacturers for more torque and power and those Cummins diesel engines go hard.
Hallow bro very good job. Bro how can I repair the toyota land cruiser v8 automatic transmission which is not function when I shifts to drive forward or back ward, please help. Thanks.
Hello, I have a Fj60 from 1983, it comes with a 4th gearbox, I have seen a Toyota 14B turbo engine, I would like to know if the 5th gearbox of this engine is compatible with the transfer of my FJ60, or in any case which ones are compatible
I had an 84 HJ60....bullet proof with the non turbo diesel. Sure, it was slow but you just couldn't kill it. No other brand anywhere could touch these. Sorry England.
having put a Muncie SM465 in front of an NP-205 in an earlier LC this just seems like a whole lotta extra steel and aluminum for not much more capability.
Ant am trying to fit a kill switch to my old girl,,I tried everything but she keeps on nagging me and talking..how can I turn off my wife so she won't start up again??.. (she keeps giving me wrong because the dishwasher Is always full of car bits 🤣🇬🇧
Ant explains too much with his hands, or uses his hands to explain everything as a way to flex his arms, but in a very “PlaySchool” children’s tv show way.

I'm a huge fan of the Fourth Gen Toyota pickups (SR2) and would LOVE to see WD feature one of the 4x4 versions on the channel.
Am I the only one who misses Ant??
I doubt that you are the only one, but I don't think that you are among a very large number of people.
