  • MTV News with Kurt Loder on death of Kurt Cobain of Nirvana during MTV Dreamtime (1994.04.11)
Thanks to the legendary duo of Art & Steve who recorded and preserved the original 120 episode from whence this clip has been derived!
If you are an avid 120 Minutes fan and a trader/collector of actual episodes of the show, do please drop me a line. Although I have a fair number of shows, I am always looking for more in order to archive as many as possible, if you are willing to share, trade, or sell, please contact me.
If you recorded the show on VHS and still have your original video tapes but don’t have the capability of transferring to dvd and/or digital, I’d be more than happy to transfer them for you and send your original VHS back to you along with dvd and/or digital files.

I'll never forget that day. I walked into my school, I was 15 at the time, and kids were sitting in the halls, crying, a few screaming, heads buried in their arms. My best friend ran up to me, almost hysterical, and threw her arms around me. R.I.P Kurt. 😢

Nevermind was sonically a great album. I'm a professional drummer, and I've played death metal and doom metal, when i recorded with the doom metal band, the engineer had that CD on hand. I remember asking him about if he liked that CD. He said yes the band was ok, but the sound on that album is great, and he was right he said he used it as a reference for drums, and bass. You can hear all the instruments, all on the same level.

No. Over the immediate couple days following there were numerous iterations of the story as more details were emerging. The original announcement was quite brief, around 90 seconds, and it interrupted the broadcast of whatever segment was on. Loder read a statement from Courtney Love soon after the NBC affiliate in Seattle broke the story.

Where did he get the weird detail he repeats in these about a "house he owned, but didn't live in anymore'' ??? He owned the house. He had just purchased it a few months before and barely had moved in before going on the European In Utero tour, but he lived there. Only a total of like 6 weeks, but he was definitely living there during the intervention that occurred at the house on March 25, 1994 after he and Dylan came downstairs from shooting drugs all night..

      It's probably two details
      1. They knew his address of record (remember how the paparazzi was in the 90s)
      2. They knew through property records he'd owned the house (like having someone local to a records request, a news agency could find that out v easily then)

Okay. Reading the comments, I need to set the record straight! I was born spring '67, "the other Cobain" from NY, never used Seatle heroin, and without a band! So I didn't find fame. Ahead of Kurt in some ways, behind in others! The point is!! Loder WAS THE one who interviewed them for MTV, WITH ALL THE SIGNS everyone missed!! In his monotone you see here. Calling Cobain out, even MOCKING the depression & being condescending to Cobain, leading up to what you witness right here, as the #1 GUY reading what he knows is TIMELESS HISTORY! LIVE on the spot! Probably full of guilt he has to block and be professional as possible! No one could have known! Now it's too late! (besides Ricky Rackman, headbanger's ball/David Kendall, 120 min/ Tabitha Soren interviews!) For my peers, this was OUR adult John Lennon assassination, which happened when we were 13, AND ALSO FOR KURT!!!
