Ritchie Puente passed away in 2004 of a long term illness 😢, he was 51...
😞
Word up!!!!!! I was shocked and appaled to find out that they sang that "iconic" tune. Not to mention Tio Puente's son us like effin awesome....
appalled? I don't think that is the word you were looking for, or is it?
Too bad the ladies that sang background on " Get Off" were not included. It is such an important part of that song.
The most important part
Pretty much most of the lead
@ @AD C:
🗣You got that right!!
The Women singing in the background make this song IMO.
🗣♊️👤
Anyone know the background singers name that sang on the song
One of the singers name was Charlette Seward and she was part of another group named Wildflower. She was also featured on another song with Peter Brown. They never got credited for their work on the songs.
I miss bandstand
🤔💭...
Where are the black background singers that sang for this hit
WTF !!! TITO Puente sons was in you band ? DAM !!!!!! Awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes Richard Puente! RIP
Rest in peace Richie Puente
He died?
Yo he passed too?? Damn yet another legendary iconic brotha in the music world is gone. We must all recall them and instill them into our kids so they remember who they are and the real music they produced.
I wish they would upload the performance as well as the interview!
Me too
Yes, because it would have showed that they were not the ones singing most of this song! Lol. It was an African American ladies group called The Wildflowers. They need to pay them!
Ish is such a sweet guy
He is gorgeous and reminds me of Mick Jagger but much more handsome.
I was thinking the same what a bunch of young talented lovely young guys
My brother was one American band stand crazy
the good ole days.
I wish we could go go back in the past
Wow the latinos were representing hace mucho tiempo!
Jay Dee Si, que bueno brode. Viva la patria!
Gays
Actually they cheated… the voices came from the background singers WILDFLOWER so yeah there’s that
"Gentlemen, I fear for your lives." I can imagine him saying that now, but not so much then.
Lead singer Ish looking hot!
IKR he looks so freaking sexy on the Hot Numbers album cover 😍
This song was co written by Ish, and seeing other videos of them and reading comments like "it ain't their song or is not them performing it is pretty pathetic. Don't take their credit away these were talented musicians and all Caribbean Latinos
Agreed. Ish And Carl Driggs Wrote and Owns The Song. Lipsink or Not. Unfair 2 The Real Singers Or Not, The Song Is Theirs.
Siempre los escuche enserio amaba a estf cantante ke recuerdos❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂

Richie Puente was always my favorite! SO CUTE! :)
He sholl fine!
YAASSS!!!!! ;)
They're all so attractive
When real music didn't have a category. They played this song on black radio stations. Yes we didn't know that the number one soul song of the week was by a white group. Foxy! Blondie, KC and the Sunshine Band! Nu Shooz, Laid Back! Queen! Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine! Rod Stewart! Rick Astely! Expose! Samantha Fox! All had songs to reach number one on the soul chart. We really thought they were black! BRAVO🎉
Music has always been categorized. No one thought any of those groups were black. They would keep their faces off of album covers so they would sell to black audiences. This isn't soul music either. Soul music comes from the soul of black people. Everything else is just imitation.
@@thewritergirlspeaks5760This is disco. Maybe funk. It is not soul music.
@@thewritergirlspeaks5760Learn about the world. You stereotypically think in black and white only.
At end of the day, Music has no color.
Tío puente son .... Puerto Rico
a lefty playing a Telecaster upside-down....that is courage!

That guitar player looks like Borat. Borat going back in time and played with this awesome group.
What happened to the original drummer?
Everybody's hair looks so big
@ravensoulaerobic geez. calm down. I was only 6 when this aired. I wasn't even alive when the Cuban Missle Crisis occured.
The Cuban Missle crisis happened in 1962 , this interview was in 1978.
All ya'll think Ish is lipp syncing need to know you can't go by this video, it was a common practice on American Bandstand during that time that everyone would Lipp Sync 1-2 songs, soul train also, but Don Corneilious did allow a few exceptions. So yes, they are Lipp Syncing here, but make no mistake Ish and Carl are the main voices on this song, ya'll need to get over it!
Sorry, but they are NOT the main voices in this song. It is an African American ladies group called The Wildflowers!!! Even the lyrics are written from a females perspective: "Take it from girls with our imagination, and we can Get Off!!!" FACTS!!!
Yeah lip syncing was part of the norm on Soul Train too. Why? To keep the integrity of the song. I had mixed feelings on this for a long time, but now I think it was the best idea to do this 👌
@@robertsambello6346 absolutely; was a big cost saver also; I recall certain acts that had to twist Don Cornealias arm to sing live or bring in their own band and instruments, lipp syncing was the norm, wasn't really a thing till after the Melli Vanalli fiasco, the young heads (Millinials) can't relate, different time. All of Henry Stones regulars could pull their weight, those guys from foxxy Ledisma & the rest started out live in the Ft. Lauderdale club scene, all those guys can sing!
No way, The Wildflowers sung the vocals on “Get Off” and never got their due credit or royalties for their work on this music.
@@TruthbetoldddYou can easily tell the main lyrics are sang by the Dudes, the Chicks are background chorus only....FACTS!!!!
R.I.P. Carl Driggs
Where are they now 2018?
This is bananas , wth
Cool Floridian Cubans. Richie son of Tito Puente represent NYC🇵🇷
🤔 They could have let us hear a song....
Too bad the band never got paid for the song get off.ish is on you tube tells story abt it

richard ramirez before he became the night stalker
Far better than the night stroker!
Murdering people was how he would get off though so…..😳🤔
Lol my thought exactly.
True. That’s pretty funny.
Miss soul train and American bandstand the kids today have nothing but jail cells time ⏲ long sentences of all races lol
Listening to these guys on the radio as a kid I thought they were black. Because you could not hear the accent when they song. Sort of like you couldn't hear the accent of the Bee gees when they song
Arch me foxy the pirgt
Dick Clark hosting a teeny bopper show in his 50’s
Gross 🤢
Black singers and white faces lip synching,it is what it is!
Don C Nunez No asshole, they are real.
Lip Synching Milli Vanilli wannabees! ass wipe!
Don C Nunez what da fuck do you know, it never came anything like that in the papers, not then or now.
Everybody knows those were session singers and when the song became a hit and those guys were just a cover, but they made no money and no royalties because they did not record the song!! Just lip synching as a gimmick. anybody over 50 knows this especially in R&B music world, Luther Vandross confirmed this Ass wipe!
Don C Nunez Before I came back here to reply to you, I googled down the song and all I could found was what I already knew about the hit song, finally I did the same with Luther Vandross, you know what I found ZERO. I'm a huge music fan from the 70's because I grew up listening to it, I was 18 years old when that song came up on the radio and you don't know better than me about those times so go and give back that shit lie to whoever sold it to you. Dimwit!
Sorry but I don't think they were the real singers...it's a millie vanilly case
Claudia Castellanos you are wrong pendeja.
not!!! This is all them Claudia/ wildfire was on the female voices and several studio musicians from TK records & critical sound studios outside motown they were one of the premiere studios, and were the soul of Fla. TK/ Dash (Henry Stone) had some of the best musicians of that time. Ish is a formidable songwriter and he can wail, Carl who co-wrote the song with ish also can sing and shared vocals on the song. Why is this so hard for some of you to believe?
Everyone who performed on American Bandstand lypsynced. It was the show's fault, not the artists.
Yuk!!
