The same is true with cats too lol. One day, I fed a cat one time and it never left my house. And then, as months passed by, I woke up one morning and had a bunch of cats in my yard because the cat I originally fed had kittens and they ALL hung out in my backyard. I ended up with 7 cats in my yard.
By the way, about dogs, animals could read good auras too. I remember in Thailand (that word again lol 🤣), they had stray dog problem too. There could be a pack of dogs and yet out of all of those dogs, there was this one dog that would come out and follow me around evert time it saw me. I guess because of my vibes at the time. It was always happy to see me. I never fed it or anything.. So, this is to say that dogs may be drawn to certain people too and such could happen too.
Thats so funny the amount of people I know that fed a cat and ended up with kittens in their back yard is pretty insane lol. As far as the dogs go, its so true they really can pick up on energy, before getting Urko, I was constantly getting followed by dogs everywhere. And I am sure you probably felt drawn to this dog as well, it almost feels like they are choosing you from every one else
Its important to say, if you are only visiting for a short time, don't take in a stray or feed a stray, There are tons of strays who get domesticated and struggle to survive after learning that they can receive food for free from people

One of my fondest memories of Peru is from the beach in Mancora.
My then-future wife and I were up drinking one night at the Loki hostel. Decided in our drunken state that we should take a walk out to the beach. (Read: She thought it was a bad idea, but I insisted.)
A whole pack of stray dogs followed us up the street we took to the beach. Didn't bother us, just trailed behind, probably hoping for food drops. They dispersed by the time we got to the beach, but after we got out there, one came back out to hang with us.
Of course, we ended up lying on the beach with her and giving her lots of pets. She was calm, not aggressive at all, and really appreciated the love, but in retrospect we probably should not have gotten so affectionate with a stray.
Maybe, sometimes dogs who heavily hang out in "touristy areas"( like beaches and markets) have more of an understanding of how things work. But it still could get dangerous, but like i said it a 1/10 dogs type thing. I am glad you have such fond memories of the moment though

Lots if dofs here in Huancayo. During the day most just sleep. At night they can become aggressive and you need to be aware. If one starts to bark at you they will draw more dogs and they can become aggressive.
I know it is really interesting how quickly things turn, sometimes you have to fake pick up a rock in Urubamba to get the dogs to leave you alone

On a positive note only one in 5 people in Peru live in a rural area like you do. So the roving packs of dogs or just huge numbers of stray dogs don't exist for most people in Peru. I am now in Arequipa and so far in my walks around the city of 1 million I do not see a lot of dogs wandering without an owner. Certaintly I see more than in a first world country but not so much like I see in your videos.
This is very true, the area matters a lot. But i will say the area that I am in has one of the highest tourism rates in the country ( from what I have been told) So its more so for the people who don't live here that visit and don't know how things go
