Several years ago I worked as an electrician on a project to install facilities for eleven Cat V16 gen-sets for ESPN generating at 13.8 kv. I don't know if they were this model, but they were Cat V16's. Very complicated, and very impressive at the end to see eight of these engines in a row.
I never got a chance to see testing with all of them running in parallel and carrying the ESPN Bristol campus. The Russelectric controls were incredible, and the 15 kv buss duct and switching gear were impressive as well. I just never got to see the end result. When your job's done, you don't hang around, you get re-assigned.
This is so satisfying. The fit and finish of everything I can see in the video is excellent. Worked on a power generation project with main details I can't discuss but diesel fired (no spark plugs to maintain) natural gas fueled power generation. It was originally designed to reduce electricity costs for a factory but they've figured out that they can shut the plant down and sell power back to the grid when the price goes up and make more money.

Very true, however the building attached to this instalment was supported by 4 of these, which provided 100% back up for 48+ hours. Should they ever be needed they would pay themselves off within 24 hours due to the nature of the building, loss of power is not an option.
I noticed he said it was a "warm start." I hope during a "cold start" the cooling fans won't come on immediately. This will cause a delayed warm up times to the coolant. But I am sure it has a block heater or has a heated room for cold winter starts.

Those enclosures are for environmental control and air intake control/filtration for the engine.
