I’m a boxer who just got into Muay Thai, my boxing style is mostly counter punching, I love the way you use the way you used the jab defensively when the other guy throws a hook. Imma start drilling that 💯
The control level was right for sparring someone you don't usually spar with, without ropes or fences and surrounded by kids with cameras. Your videos are the best!
Jared is my main sparring partner. We typically spar a full set of rounds a couple of times a week. A super humble dude, excellent boxer and coach and a good friend of mine for years now! Been a big fan of Gabe's fights and his channel for a long time as well! I run my own small kickboxing/BJJ gym and i have used several of the drills he's shown on his channel in our training there! It's ridiculously cool for me to see this collaboration between these two champs!
Man Gabriel is just so good, a kickboxing champion but can also spar with a boxer and hold his own, also fight karate guys and Thai fighters and adapt to them. He's so patent and his focus never slips and he's a nice and humble guy too.
The massive difference in experience really shows, even if Gabriel never competed in boxing, his experience in fighting in general is a lot compared to a dude with 20 fights
I compete in mma and kickboxing but have been working with a pro boxer and a collegiate nation champ for the last 3 years and I agree with you on how much it has improved and benefitted my stand up, regardless of the lack of kicks! Cheers to you Gabriel
Can we expect a breakdown of Akimoto vs Petchtanong? It reminded me a lot of what Superbon did, using single techniques and no fancy combinations vs someone who was trying to get in and bring a lot of volume. But the difference being that this was Orthodox vs Southpaw!
Hey Gabriel, not sure if you answer questions in the comments regularly or if you save them for Q&A's, but what do you think about "isolated-skill sparring"? For example: Doing rounds of "only jabs", "only body shots", or "only kicks"? Do you think it's a good way to improve certain techniques in a live setting or would it be better to have normal sparring while just adjusting your own focus?
We would do this at my old Muay Thai Gym, except each person would be working different isolated skills. I.e. Partner 1 is left hand only Partner 2 is Right Kicks only.
Always trained that way too. Felt it was a great way to "get good" with the various tools, as you are "forced" to utilize them and" seek and create ", the opportunities to use them.
How is it that you always seem to have a sequence of attacks or moves set up ahead of time? Is it just from your extensive history in the sport and accumulating your favorite things to go to? Or is it a system you have created through training?
Do you not typically wear headgear? I’ve noticed guys in kickboxing and MMA tend to train without it more while full-on facesavers are often common in boxing.
I wear headgear for hard boxing rounds. Tomorrow's video I am wearing my winning headgear with the bar protecting the nose. But only put it on for hard boxing.
Honestly, it depends on the fighters. Gabe's boxing is ridiculously high level for a kickboxer so he would fair very well in straight boxing. I believe there was a time when he was considering a switch. This round is not likely indicative of how most rounds would go in a boxer vs kickboxer match.
I don't understand why someone would just do boxing, you're only using half your body for attack and defense. If you go up against someone who low kicks, oblique kicks etc you are going to be in trouble. I understand why someone would do boxing fights only in a sporting sense, because it can pay a lot of money. But I would never let my real life defense reside solely in boxing.
Please Spar with Wonderboy
Nah petrosyan
Wonderboy is quite a bit bigger, but that would be fun to watch
nah he should sparr with Jeff Chan
@@KelpWolf it’s only sparring size doesn’t matter just gives him a different look
I'd like to see that, they both have a Karate background
Tomorrow I'm going to post some footage of boxing in training camp. It's definitely less controlled than this round.
Was just about to say this is the most chill boxing sparring I’ve ever seen 😂

Trying to actually be a _boxer_ instead of being a kickboxer who just happens to be boxing... brilliant way to put it.

Great stuff. Keep up the great work.

Good work fellas!
Jared is the man
Good round. I really like the intensity level you guys are using. It’s just right to make people better and not get messed up in training.

I would like a breakdown too, i hope gabriel make it
After you sparred with sensei Seth
and made a video on it.
I was hoping you filmed a round with everyone, it’s looking like that’s what you did!
Yes. Someone else was choosing who to record so we didn't get all my rounds but I'll post the stuff I have with everyone.
Love it. Your reading is top notch. The counter drills you describe in your videos show in your fighting. Amazing.
I find boxing so important in MMA, Dustin porirer outboxes all of his opponents and gets W after W
His boxing was incredible against Michael Chandler especially the pitching and catching he was doing.
Felt like I got a boxing lesson watching this. Incredible. Wow. Really great boxing, it's a call to arms to go work on my boxing!!

I actually like doing that sometime, also wanna know Gabriel's opinion on it.

@@Satchamo_Jones same, our coach occasionally has us do this to train counters and head movement
Excellent question! A lot of good Muay Thai gyms in Australia do this
Good sparring 👍
You crowded (smothered) him to keep him from getting full extension of his shots . Good move 🥊
Gabe, your boxing is incredible!
Man you are just so elite!
Looks like fun! I always accidently throw a kick when I am supposed to be using just hands. LOL. It's hard to keep legs out of it. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful technical sparring+breakdown😎🤙🏾
Gabriel, I'd really like to see you spar kickboxing or even do an exibition with stephen wonderboy thompson. Please make it happen!
Yeah Gabe... You sir are a scary fighter. And the fact that you are nice and respectful makes you even scarier.
🙏😀 Thanks
Jared has such nice jabs from low.
Great work guys.
You would have been a great boxer as well hahah, pure talent man.
Excellent Gab. I am also from karate and than transfered to kickboxing and I know what it means to spar boxing rounds with boxers 😁🥊🥋
That western boxing skillset is usefull in the pocket. Good match!
Gabriel has really good footwork
You gotta get some training in with Jeff Chan. I feel you two could learn a lot from each other.
Jared loves that double body hook combo. Seems to spam it at times.
How is it that you always seem to have a sequence of attacks or moves set up ahead of time? Is it just from your extensive history in the sport and accumulating your favorite things to go to? Or is it a system you have created through training?
I gotta be honest... Jared wearing the head gear, he's just letting you "work" Jared is CRAZY dangerous! For real!
Not at all, even more so based off of the other spars from this creator collab. But i know jared could do that to rest up for another round.
I have so much respect for boxing. The footwork, the tight holding of the arms, the breathing, etc makes a person humble. Keep it up.
I like your use of footwork, nice man, you surprised me. Work some uppercuts into your slips and you could be a pro boxer.
Spar wonderboy
I will definitely plan on making that happen in 2023.
Video suggestion: how to counter a right punch since all of us encounter it in sparring. Wether it's a straight or a looping punch.
can you make a video on the right hook?
Please, can you do a breakdown of akimoto vs petchtanong? Like superbon breakdowns, please
can you break down Petchtanong beating Akimoto
Thoughts on Hiroki vs Petchtanong?
Is endless punching are good or bad
Please tell me you got a video with Shane as well
Yes sir. We only did one round and only part of that was recorded but I'm making that video right now.
Spar MMAShredded !!

You tend to eat a lot more headshots in boxing as well.
How do I box if I have short stubby arms and weigh 135 pounds?
Peekaboo boxing, constant head movement, tight footwork, and a nasty overhand right
@@sym9266 Tight footwork? Got the rest expect for that
Gabriel I've noticed you have better hands than most of the kickboxers you fight with, so THIS is your secret 🤔
nice vid
pro kickboxing champ vs average pro boxer in a boxing fight. who would win?
Honestly, it depends on the fighters. Gabe's boxing is ridiculously high level for a kickboxer so he would fair very well in straight boxing. I believe there was a time when he was considering a switch. This round is not likely indicative of how most rounds would go in a boxer vs kickboxer match.

Lol

Collaborat with Michael Jay white
Boring
How is he a pro boxer !? 😂
Well, he's now 40 years old and his last fight was 6 years ago. I think that Mr Varga is quite a handful to spar.
@@malkomalkavian ex pro then. He’s nothing for a boxer, I’d even give varga a run for this money
Vargas is a very nice guy, he could demolish all of these guys but the collabs are fun and great for the algorithm
