- Habibati! It's my first listen to Morissette Amon and I promise you it's definitely not going to be my last. The voice on this woman is unbelievable! She's got the magic combo of great technique, wonderful tone and timbre, and knowing how to use and combine the two! I hadn't heard the original version of 'Rise Up' before this, but I gave it a listen afterwards, and there's no wonder people are saying the original artist had this cover deleted, because it totally blows it our of the water.

The fact that she was **sick** during that day she recorded this song in Wish bus is so incredible how she managed to hit those high notes and falsettos. She's truly a gifted 😭🫶
Even more impressive is the quantity of time, especially in the softer parts, where she had her voice right on the razor's edge of breaking with total control. Doing so fully healthy is top tier; to do so while battling a cold is legendary!!!
Morissette's WishBus performance of "Rise up" ran up to more than 100 million views pretty quickly until it got deleted, while the original by A. Day got only 66 million views. So I guess A. Day's team realised that Morissette is simply the better singer and tried to avoid Mori's even greater success with her rendition. But nobody can stop Morissette, the best singer of our times!
Nah it's about money from Andra Days's distribution side of things.
It's about the potential loss of revenue and not about holding Morissette back.
But yes, Morissette Amon is by far the greatest female singer of her time in my book.

Morrisette is probably the greatest singer of her time. I'm fortunate that I live in the Philippines and am so proud of her even though I'm Australian. Great reaction a pleasure to subscribe.

Honestly her face is hypnotic. With the 5 octave voice it’s almost too much to take.
Can't blame the original artist or her agency for feeling threatened or insecured by Morissette's performance. I mean, dang! Her technique, her vocal range (she's got the entire spectrum!) and her emotions! It's a solid performance but what really did it for me was her emotions. Like she just took us to church or something! Damn!
As a musician myself i never understood that mentality at all, i would personally be incredibly honored to have something i created been done to this level.
Often times great music exist beyond mainstream media that just need that extra to elevate it to the next level, be it a great singer doing an own interpretation, or someone doing another instrumental arrangement etc.
Morissette is a highly technical vocalist. She knows her tongue and mouth placement to produce and sustain her notes. Her vocal dynamics and resonance is out of this world😁 She truly makes us Filipinos happy and proud. The world continues to fall in love with our Queen Morissette😍

Isn't it amazing that there's so much talent that we've never heard of, either because they haven't been discovered by the Industry, or because of our parochialisms. And isn't it wonderful that social media allow us to find them anyway, gather around them to appreciate their talent and hard work, and discover our own commonalities - we all get goosebumps at the same parts of a song. For most of my life music was just background white noise - I was busy with left brain stuff - but I'm rediscovering it later in life. I alternate between mourning the lost years and being grateful that at least I've found it now. And the various perspectives from different reactors makes exploring, learning and finding a tribe in the music diaspora so much better. Thanks for lending your perspective.

That Rumor is just that a Rumor. The issue was not views, it was a copyright issue with this uploader Wish 107.5 Several cover videos wer'e removed from that channel not just hers. Hers however, was probably the most noteable. The original singer Andra Day has heard Morissettes rendition and gave her major props. She has no problem with this cover. Morissette has tons of performances of Rise Up uploaded including a recent acapella version (worth a view) that still stand. This did indeed go Viral, and since it was taken down, fans keep reuploading it, once it hits a million or more it gets yanked and then it "Rises Up" again lol
Your comments echo what I have said (and many) for close to 4 years! She is exactly who you say, she gave me (and many) the SAME impression. I got on a plane when she came to the states to perform to see her live and this woman is REAL she blew my mind!
She just dropped her 1st co produced, co written track Friday (27, 20) on all digital platforms called "Love You Still" it's currently making it's way up itunes charts around the world. People need to stream and buy it, because this voice, as you said , is a once in decades talent . Yes, Andra Day is unfairly vilified. I think as a songwriter, you would love to hear other artists sing your song, and I’m sure she was overjoyed when she heard Mori’s version.

Thank you Terri that you made clear the copyright issue to counter the unfair rumor by some overzealous fans. We love Mori dearly, but it is really unfair to think that Andra Day had anything to do with taking down the vid. When you mentioned that "..it was taken down, fans keep reuploading it,....and then it 'Rises Up' again...", I laughed so hard, I sprayed coffee all over my laptop! Mori truly is a legit phoenix! How I wish this pandemic is over and a vaccine available, so we can watch Mori perform live again here in the Philippines or overseas!

I think to defend Andra Days honor ,who wrote this beautiful song and whom without it, we would not have Morissettes incredible version, was the right thing to do. She in fact did give Praise to Morissettes version. It was posted on an Instagram Vocal page run by a friend of mine. Do you think it's right to know that information and let people go on believing something that is not true? Why is every single version of her singing Rise Up still up except for the Wish 107.5 upload? Mori felt very comfortable uploading an all new version in June on her Birthday on her own channel, it's had no issues and remains up. We cannot overlook the fact that several covers on Wish were removed at one point, and the whole channel was revamped. This idea that the original artist demanded it be taken down is simply not true, considering there is obvious evidence to the contrary.
I think as Fans of Morissette we owe it to her to represent her with honor and truth, especially considering how much this song means to her. If an artist were to cover one of Morissettes songs and it get taken down due to similar reasons ,would you let a false rumor about her claiming she demanded it be taken down because it got more views stand? You would defend her and rightly so. I see this Rumor everywhere. It's not a good look. It smacks of arrogance and Morissette is one of the most humble artists on earth.

One of the great reactions of Mori ever! You're right brother, we totally agree, every decade or two somebody like here pops up once in a while like there's a michael jordan in sports that does that. We're merely the lucky onces that we've witnessed upon their greatness. I'm sure there's plenty here that followed her since she started. Its not that she could hit the high notes clearly and that she's very versatile. Its the way she owns the song wich in turns owns you! I've seen the great ones but she's (to me) more special than the rest of them. I've never seen somebody who does a belt out that transitions into a key change while doing a whistle note on the chorus! There are so many talented people in the world, but this one is rare that she's not directly influenced by the great ones other than probably watch them online! If you can react to her other songs she's on that setting while doing all these, sitting down on a moving bus studio. I can't utter a word when a bus is moving! Crazy!
This was the 1st song i heard of her. And uptill now this is still my favorite. Also there is no better version of this song done by anyone. The way morissette sings this song and the amount of small technical details is just unreal. And its also worth mentioning she does this sitting down. To me, she's just a vocal goddess, her voice, the tone, the dynamics, the technique, the range upper or lower registers, the clarity, the way she transforms her voice to suit the genre's, believe me she sings any genre, rock, pop, r & b, soul, country, opera, she plays piano & guitar, she's the voice of any century never mind a decade.

I can't forget her voice in live performance when i was on her concert, it's very beautiful, i felt like i was in heaven and bliss that time.

As a whole I generally love the original artist and their songs, but once in a while a remake is better.
My example would be Dolly Partons "I will always love you" redone by Witney Houston, then Bee Gees "If I can't have you" redone by Yvonne Elliman, and of course Andra Days "Rise up" and now Morisette who reset the standard to that song. (My opinion)

What should i say, i have actually 2 female singers i'm totally obsessed with, one is Floor and the other is Morissette.
