Elsa has her crafting and Barron has his hunting. Each person needs to express themselves in their own way. If there's room for hunting gear, there's room for crafting supplies. 😀

I literally went to the comments to say the same thing. Have as many crafting things you want Elsa! That is your gift to the world! Youre amazing at what you do! But I also know we dont know what goes on behind the scenes, and this may have been a joke between you both! We know yall are both very concious of what you bring into your space. But dont let that hender you from being creative!

Love you 3! Hey, if you use everything you have, then it’s not too much. Don’t let those sour pusses daunt your accumulation of necessary and just plain FUN items. Enjoy your lives!!!!! Tools are necessary, fun is necessary. I support your life expansion. 💚

@Robin Mink Bc it’s also fun for us watching their interactions & adventures. But mostly bc these things bring them much needed joy which I truly believe echoes out into the world. Just think of Elsa’s smile; it always warms my soul & makes me smile ear-to-ear. I love these podcasts (& of course the main vlogs).

That would be a fantastic program! Please keep on what you are doing .... You are obviously evolving but somehow the "majic" of you two is following along with your changes. So .... how do you do it? Being a crafty, creative person as well I totally understand the drive in wanting to learn multiple crafts cause it’s all super fascinating and really gets those creative juices flowing when you try something new. My bf says I’m trying to do too many things but it’s really hard to stop that creative flow and if you aren’t getting “messy” are you really having fun!? 😂

Keeping our material goods to a minimum is difficult! I live in a van but my son just built me a 10/20’ shed with a shower, toilet and sink, for my sewing room. I looked at all the space and thought of all the things I could buy for it and had to really hold back on my purchases. I don’t want the extra stuff and know that so had this great internal battle over want vs. need! I work at REI which compounds everything! So, just give thought to each thing you bring in and if you have something you don’t need share it with someone. Thank-you for sharing.

i started minimalism 6 years ago and now im, what you consider, extreme minimalist. i dont count my items but all my belongings fit into one 40l backpack. main point is not to own anything or purchase anything, but have a value in each and every item and thing you own. and this freedom to travel with only one bag... im so happy 😀😊

Hi from Canada... I'm sort of lost about this discussion ...somebody is commenting you are acquiring to many items to be able to say you live minimalist.... That's ridiculous....I've watched you for years loving your content and I've never questioned why you have " stuff"..t has always been impressive on how well you eat and work with so little ... You did it and did it well ..but now you have land..your lives are evolving..hobbies change and you should have what ever you enjoy ..I've loved the boarding ...I'm a skier.. That's been beautiful watching and you need gear for that...that fact that you have researched and studied the use of all your backpacks again is impressive..you always have used good quality items and now is your time...a young healthy strong couple you've used this platform to share your experiences that hopefully will help you continue to grow or change...so you buy use play with whatever you want , this chanel is yours and do whatever you want and thank you for sharing this adventure with us..

@@tommatheson5855 actually- wool is on the rise. There are some amazing companies out there doing amazing things. I probably pay an average of $30/skein for my sock yarn. Then I spend days knitting- and I’m not alone. Millions of people are hand knitting, and even more are buying wool products even for warmer weather. Check out #100daydresschallenge by Wool&. People are realizing wool has cooling features, anti microbial, sustainable and long lasting. It really is a miraculous product

I admit having a thought that you really don't live a minimalist lifestyle simply by having smaller versions of everything - I'm 58, when I was your age everything needed was packed in a bag with a rolled up blanket between the handles. I lived a nomad lifestyle picking up jobs from one town to another. In your videos I see you cooking, making coffee, and all the tech gear - along with your recreation requirements, this is hardly minimal definitively. Maybe some of it is a generational thing, tech was fairly non existent in the eighties.... I think to a picture I once saw of Gandhi's possessions at the time of his death, there was a rice bowl, his glasses, footwear and a robe. None of us will be that kind of minimal !!! I started thinking that a minimalist lifestyle will have to be defined with some relativity ... One thing for sure, "stuff" accumulates quickly ! I'm grateful for your positive outlook on everything and willingness to share . It will be interesting to see how you grow , much love !

Elsa…..you mentioned you took pictures of a bunch of your soccer t-shirts at one time. It reminded me what my wife did for her son several years ago. Unfortunately he passed away but her idea on what to do with all is old shirts was so cool. She took them to a lady who cut the front out of each shirt and made a quilt out of them. Each square of the quilt was the front of one of his t-shirt. She gave it to him for a Christmas gift. Anyway, when said that about your shirts came into my mind. I really enjoy both of you and your videos. Don from Toledo, Ohio.

Minimalism is in my opinion, a general thought process that means so many things to so many people. At it's root, it means what do you value and what brings value to you in life. If the number of things you own bring value to you, then you do you. Let people enjoy what minimalism brings to them. Cheers to your path!!

Good point around 35:00 Elsa & Barron about bringing things into your home/environment. Many of us have heard of feng-shui, but I also like a variation of that called wabi-sabi where the basic principle is that for every thing you bring into your home, you must release two or three items (donate, give away to someone in need etc), basically lower your consumerism altogether. Remember if it doesn’t bring you joy or if it isn’t useful or beautiful, there is really no need for it. This principle has helped me a lot to manage my space.

I feel there are different levels of minimalism. Are you going to live out of a backpack? No, the princess needs his good food, treats, and gear! When you find things you haven't seen, used, or really even remember, that's when the question surfaces. I'm still working from the top down. You two are an inspiration, and the princess is a joy, lol. Love your story, keep expressing yourselves and trying new things. It's what you want, not what others want you to do.

Wonderful information! Whoever called you guys maximulist, might need a reality check. To be off the grid, let’s face it 😳, is to be free from the need of “others”. Of course, this will eventually take a true homestead. You two are a perfect example of slowly becoming one with your environment/nature. & Now that you’ve purchased land 🥳 you’re slowly creating an atmosphere that literally feeds your off grid needs. It’s so fun watching you and learning so much, especially for those of us with similar thoughts! Fkkk the labels! Either learn from someone’s path, or get off 😉 You compliment each other so well! Elsa, never stop being creative and crafting & Baron, never stop being a gear/tool junkie! Together your forever home is going to be amazing. LY2!!!! 💜🦋💜

Why does it matter what you are? Minimalist or maximalist are only words. Better to ask if you two and only you two are happy!!! I enjoy your videos so much!!

I think a good word for y’all is essentialists! Because you now have more room there is now more space for more essential items that you use all the time!

I downsized from a 6,000 sq ft house, filled with antique furniture and stuff handed down to me from grandparents and parents, to a 1,200 sq ft apartment. I now want to go tiny. The initial purge was done in less than 3 weeks as my house was sold. I gave to Goodwill and Salvation Army in excess of $50,000 worth of gorgeous antiques that none of my children wanted or were in a position to take and that I wasn't able to sell😫😫 I was the repository of the lives of my ancestors😍😫😵‍💫

YES, PLEASE on doing a video on what gear/organization you have in your car. It's an accomplishment to set up a good system.
Also, backpacks are EXCELLENT to organize like items. You'll be GRATEFUL, if you ever have to bug out (wildfire, etc) and can grab and go with your well-organized backpacks!

How much of your gear did you actually purchase yourself vs. gear gifted to you? It's important to be real with numbers for your viewers. Would the average person be able to afford all the equipment, storage facilities, offices, camper, and the 100K worth of land? Maybe provide figures so that a person (without company connections) could see how much they need to earn/save to create a similar lifestyle. ~Kay B.

We could never accept gear from sponsors until we bought land because we didn’t have any room for it. We got lights from BioLite in the very beginning for creating a free video for them and traded lots of promo for a Cubic mini wood stove. We had the kayaks for 6-8 months before having land. No companies ever paid us. - also, I’m happy to “slide into the influencer lifestyle” if it helps us have gear to use and share/recommend with friends so we can all spend more time outside and not on our cell phones.

When I moved from a tiny apartment to a house I had a bit of anxiety about how much more stuff I acquired within a very short time period. I thought "I didn't need all of these things a few months ago in my apartment, why do I think that I need them now?". But the thing is, I use all of it. And I am able to do more fun, useful and sustainable stuff because of it. So my way of looking at it is, if I actually use it on a regular basis, then it's a good thing I have it. I wouldn't necessarily say that minimalism is only defined by having extremely few things, I'd say it's more about only having things that you use. And that can look different for different people.

The whole first part was a couple who have been together forever and poke playfully at each other's short comings lol. My husband and I have that banter back and forth too.
Here's the thing, you guys are still minimalists compared to most people so maybe there are different levels of minimalist. I don't feel you are stepping away from the more simple life, you just have different needs.

Love watching your reality RUclips show. Both of you are so freaking funny. And Elsa, don't you know. Men love shoes no matter what condition they are in. It's like some sort of gross collection. Lol. Be safe and healthy. Tc

Quality stuff is so on point! I am always grappling with the not wanting too hold onto much stuff, but also we're broke. So sometimes minimalism doesn't make sense. I hold onto tools, hobby supplies, etc. because I can't just go replace it easily. Frugality and sustainable living sometimes makes one hold onto stuff but it's all about balance!!

I think most of us start watching certain YT channels because the channel speaks to the things that we are personally interested in at that time. For me, I have followed a lot of channels that I no longer follow as they no longer produce content that I am interested in, either because they changed, or what I am interested in has changed. I want to constantly grow and change, and it is not surprising to me when channels I follow do the same. There are only a few channels that I follow because I also feel connected to the people and truly care how they are doing life, like you, Elsa and Barron. When I see people lashing out to YTers because their content changes, I feel like those people struggle to grow and change in their own life. And it is YOUR channel and YOUR life. Cliche but yeah...... You do you. Haters will eventually move on.

Really enjoyed this episode. You fully addressed the problem with arbitrary labels: minimalism and maximalism. Also really enjoyed hearing Elsa inviting comments on the episode; hopefully they are more enjoyable for you than you have expressed finding them in the past. It really invites a sense of community. Thank you :)

If theres anything Ive learned about minimalism thats always rang true to me...its how YOU define it, not anyone else. Comparing myself to you guys as a couple, I'm somewhat of a maximalist. (Though I am downsizing!) Whereas my boyfriend is a minimilast because of his life circumstances, hes always had to go without, so hes sadly been used to being a "minimalist" though not by choice. But it makes me happy to help him and see him buy himself better quality things over the last two years.
