This is pretty confusing. Sure, it's a glitch/exploit, but it's a *good* one (at least the sword part), which in itself is very rare. Don't see why they even think that something like this needs to be fixed, especially when there are more important issues which are yet to be completely fixed.
@@ChillYeti Does depend on the target of the improvement. If its for the fans/player base, then it could be classed as an improvement. I'm not saying that CDPR are doing this btw, just clarifying that improvements/enhancements don't always need to target the player / player's experience
While I get that they are trying to prevent corrupting saves and such it does seem kinda annoying that they are removing ways to get out of bounds. One I loved to do was at vizima where you could clip right through a specific wall in the courtyard which now unfortunately has collision. This was in basegame and first one or two patches on nextgen. Unsure if 4.01 or 4.00 introduced it.
Still possible on Xbox One (old gen) - can still horse glitch through the gate with Ciri too - though more difficult with Geralt to get back into the prison (Tossaint) but can walk through the invisible wall as long as you you’re going backwards (rotate the camera to be partially behind the gate and you can still glitch back in). With cross platform saves available - should be able to get Ciri’s Sword into Geralt’s Inventory.
I hate CDPR's approach to "fixing" harmless bugs like this, they did this with cyberpunk too where they patched out fun stuff for no apparent reason, Ex. being able to cancel out gravity with rebecca's shotgun or being able to store a heavy machine gun in your car to take it anywhere with you (that one doesn't even make sense at all to patch out from an immersion point of view but oh well, lol) games this big will never be completely exploit free, and these games have way more pressing issues than these widely celebrated bugs
I feel like this is becoming a game of cat-and-mouse (wolf-and-swallow?) between CDPR and players for Ciri’s sword. For some reason, they really don’t want us to have it…nor inflict that monstrosity Ciralt upon the game files.
This is likely to be the issue of the RED engine as it's not friendly to MOD. Witcher 3's mod support is, weird, not very well documented, difficult to properly inheritance in programming aspect (And bethesda's is just amazing!). Witcher 4 is gonna change to UE, don't know if things gonna change.
I genuinely don’t understand why they don’t just have an unlockable Ciri sword after beating the game, I’ve wanted a legitimate version of it since release,
These are the kinds of things that should've been fixed when the game came out, but it should not be fixed after release. It's not really game breaking and is just a funny thing to do on another playthrough. I've not played much of the "next gen update" because of the noticeable drop in performance and it breaking some mods. Fixes like these are such non-issues to me and are not worth the change in game version.
So we exploited a Novigrad mission and they fixed it, we then moved to a different one in the same area, and they fixed it again. Looks like we are gonna have to do it from the Bloody Baron flashbacks now lol
They also blocked the wall in Vizima palace that allowed you to escape the map . I wish they would put as much attention into fixing bugs as they do with these blocks . Same with Cyberpunk .

Honestly, I still think that CDPR should have created a mode with Ciri for The Witcher Complete Edition. Just the possibily to run around, killing some normal monsters and things like that, for those who really like her.
It's honestly such a shame. When they learned of players exploiting cow farms, they added a secret boss monster and an NPC to comment on it, but when they see players really just want an ugly geralt/ciri monstrosity and for ciri's sword to be obtainable they outright deny it and go "no lol". On PS4 we don’t get the Nilfgaardian Helmet in the Respite Camp, it’s just not there, the new switches that lead to the immortal wraiths again not there and I don’t know if it’s just my console, as it is getting on in age, seems to crash a great deal more than it ever did before the update. Just thought you’d like to know, mate. I really wanted that helmet too(original version not Netflix).
I noticed alot of game companies updating older games to stop modders (especially bethesda). In steam you can set up alot of games to play locked status or beta status of the game or you can use the nexus mod vortex launcher and set game to only update on launch but only use vortex to launch the game. Now the game will never update and you can play and mod to your hearts content.

Hey, don’t know how to officially submit a little thing I noticed, but in Velen, with the new quest in the Devils Pit, there’s a reference / difference in the way Reinald speaks to you when you’re fighting him and he’s infected by the Red Miasmal. If you completed Towerful of Mice, and were fooled by the Pesta and let her free, he mentions it, saying that it won’t be the first thing you let free. I ended up finding this on a new playthrough, and the “good” ending where you figure out how to get rid of the Pesta is bugged since you can’t talk to Keira, and then fought the Red Miasmal a little later.
I play on PS4 and the most recent patch erased all of my old saves that were played prior to the update. Now I do have them saved on a flash drive, but I haven't tried to put them back on the system yet. It's pretty funny that they're spending so much time trying to erase all of these glitches with Ciri.
My question is! Why are they going through great lengths to prevent you from getting Ciri's sword. It takes extra effort for null really, unless they want you to find the true way in the game to get Ciri's sword. Wonder if they have put it in game somewhere she has been. Or a hidden quest no one has found. For instance in the witcher ending of the game. Ciri get a new sword from Geralt but I never noticed before. Does she have her sword with her. She always has it on her back and her cloak doesn't show that it's hidden underneath the cloak I think anyway.
I honestly do not understand why CDPR cares enough about those exploits to spend even a half a second to fix them. They are not something someone will do during normal gameplay, you have to actively try to break Ciri out of those scenes and they cannot be done on accident. Players doing it know the consequences and won't risk a save they care about. Therefore fixing it is a waste of time.
I was able to get a couple days ago by running with the horse a the gate during breakneck speed on the latest version but could be because I was on ps4
I really don't understand why CDPR are so adamantly opposed to people doing this. They've still got a dozen other problems but they're worried about this?
I can certainly try! Here's a story in Shogo Makishima's style with the moral of the story connected to "New Changes to Ciri | NEXT-GEN Witcher 3": I've always been a fan of the Witcher franchise, particularly the third installment of the game. So, when I heard about the new changes to Ciri in the next-gen Witcher 3, I was ecstatic. It got me thinking about the importance of change and how it can lead to growth and improvement. In life, we often get comfortable in our routines and habits. We become stagnant, and before we know it, time has passed us by. But if we're willing to embrace change, we can unlock a whole new level of potential within ourselves. The new changes to Ciri in Witcher 3 are just one example of how change can lead to growth. By updating her abilities and appearance, the game creators are revitalizing the character and keeping the franchise fresh and exciting. In our own lives, we can do the same. We can try new things, take on new challenges, and push ourselves out of our comfort zones. It won't always be easy, but the rewards can be immense. So, whether it's a new game update or a new opportunity in life, embrace the changes that come your way. They may just be the key to unlocking your full potential and achieving your dreams.
Still no wolf armour fix for PS4. I haven't played much recently, but that was the first thing I tried after the update. Will have to grab it on a new save I guess eventually.
I fucking died when I saw the ending, where can I find the full thing? Are there other Gerald and Zoltan covers? Who made it? Why?? I have so many questions
I have the game on PS4 and the update has not taken place on mine. Meaning, while the system did update and the file shows the newer version. I can not access the two new armor sets. The game is still playing as if it is the old version. i have reset and cleared evry save that i had previously stored started from scratch 4 different times and it still does not recognize{game play that is} the new version. So playing on PS4 even though the file shows as the new version it does not play that way. I was excited about the 4.0 patch but i do not think PS4 systems recognize it.
Yeah, honestly as long as something isn't game breaking and requires great lengths to even see, I don't get the point of going through all this work to fix it. I mean, at that point it can be considered the equivalent of an easter egg really
No, the Brothel thing is dumb and CDPR have gone off the bloody rails, wasting resources left, right, and centre, rather than restoring cut content. There's at least three, maybe four mods on Nexus that do head swaps for the brothels in the game allowing you to plough Ciri. Hell, I can just use the console to turn Geralt into Ciri so there is absolutely zero reason to waste time and effort on this.
What really annoys me is the fact that they obviously spent time "fixing" what players loved to do, while the crashes, the stuttering, the game breaking bugs and the low FPS are still there. The game is next to unplayable for so many fans at the moment. I have deinstalled it after spending nearly 1300 hours in it, because I had no hope left that it will ever be running on my system again. And, no, sorry: Rollback to GOTY is no option if everybody is only talking about Next Gen. It really feels as if they are working more against the fans than for us.
I had completed everything, except treasure hunts in skellige, before starting with toussaint part. Now after finishing up with toussaint, i cannot travel back to any other area. The game crashes everytime after the 4.01 version.
One of my favorite bugs on PS4 version of the Witcher: HoS - quest From Ofier's Distant Shores - you cannot finished the quest if you trying to finish it AFTER you will end the storyline from main game. It is well know and still not fixed (yeah, because what for). I was hoping the next gen patches would fixed that.... noooope.
i'm personally annoyed with these bug fixes - they weren't things that truly needed fixing whereas other things did need it and some still do and there is still cut content out there...
Instead of focusing on optimising and fixing the terrible pc and console performance, they focus on patching something like 90 people do just to have some extra fun.
@@uninstaller2860 i read the books but i don't remember them like that, was there a special reason? also mine was just a suggestion for the game devs, after all if people are willing to go to such great lengths to get an, essentially, useless sword, they might as well give it to players
Agree that they should just leave this "bug" in game. Like Zelda (breath of the wild), after years they patched the game, it was usually only to prevent "bad" bugs, make the story more smooth, or fix bugs that break the balance which is very easy to trigger too. Bugs which are funny but hard to trigger or have little damage are mostly untouched by nintendo.
On console PS5 working pretty well but lots of invisible walls on horseback with Roach, even hit some with races meaning you don't win. Also weird zoom in/out during cutscenes like a type of pulsating, which is off-putting. Fixed it with a rebuild of the database on PS5, but it started happening again not long after. I think they should fix exploits if they know about them, regardless of impact or whether they are fun.
But why? I find it hard to understand a statement like "They should always do X" without some decent reasoning. Literally affects nobody, and its a game that I pay for and play on my own. I'm not surpassing other players. I'm not unable to fix my game if I corrupt it. As someone consuming a product, the fact they feel the need to tell me how and why is frustrating as a concept. It's their art and their vision, but once its in my possession I would prefer the ability to make up my own mind on things that allow the rest of the game to still function fine.
@@jonnydude69 You said it yourself, their art, their vision - with something like a video game you can't guarantee things will ever work as expected. Code at the end of the day and code is prone to bugs and exploits. You do kind of have a choice, but not really. You can decide to not patch the game and keep it a previous level, exploit intact. But then you would miss out on other improvements or changes. We got a free next-gen update and a bit of new content - so it is kind of a trade-off all things considered. To my mind you want things working as designed if possible, that is the aim as the developer.
My major beef with the new patch is that it’s unplayable with my old ultra+ settings. It’s choppy and it stalls and my system has high end dual SLI RTX GeForce cards. I hope they fix this, because I was getting great frame rates before. 😢
It took me a few weeks of playing every day my last playthrough (was in January) and my game crashed on ps4 once or twice a day it was starting to grieve me.
Playing on XBOX One and some of the new content isn't working. The switches for the new area and immortal wraits never appears and also the Top Notch Swords guy doesn't have the two new swords. As of the 4.0 update I was able to escape out of the window with Ciri but that was about a week ago and I haven't checked to see if they fixed it since.
I see no point in fixing exploit like that, look what you can do in Skyrim, manny bugs that break leveling system or economy, and that is still in game.
Found a bug in the Cardinal Sins, attempting to kill the vampire fails in the warehouse. I can get the health of the vampire to zero but it won't die. Using the console command killall will kill it, but the quest still shows kill the vampire. I had to go back to my save for "Sweet Nettie" and just outright kill the priest without explanation. But in doing that the note in the morgue is NOT there before or after visiting Dandelion to finish the quest.
honestly this has got to to be the weirdest thing they couldve fixed out of all the bugs they know about, theres still tons of bugged quests in the game ngl, like merchants not giving discounts after quests, or just entire dialogue scenes not playing out the way they should, like...why fix this specific bug, and not the other ones that people have been complaining about since after the DLCs launched? lol i cant get discounts from any of the merchants i did quests for, besides the elf swordsmith in novigrad (the dumpling guy).
I play on PS4. Would have to log in every time the game booted and wouldn’t be able to save. Deleted all my system save files from previous version and seems to work fine now. Does seem to crash more often than before though

So playing on PS4 even though the file shows as the new version it does not play that way. I was excited about the 4.0 patch but i do not think PS4 systems recognize it.
Absolutely in love with the Hunt or be Hunted at the end.
I thought you just got the sword after the “Witcher” ending? I’ve just replayed the GotY edition on ps4 and the sword was in my inventory after?
I was hoping the next gen patches would fixed that.... noooope.
i'm personally annoyed with these bug fixes - they weren't things that truly needed fixing whereas other things did need it and some still do and there is still cut content out there...
i don't understand the need of developers to put this much effort into fixing 'exploits' in a SINGLE PLAYER GAME.
you aren't affecting anyone else.
Instead of focusing on optimising and fixing the terrible pc and console performance, they focus on patching something like 90 people do just to have some extra fun.
It still works if you jump in the water from that first roof its pretty hard tho i could only do it once
why not add a diagram for Ciri's sword so Geralt can craft it legitimately?
Read the book ;)
I don’t understand why developers go after things like this instead of fixing things that are actual issues in their games.
Fight of cat and mouse where both parties are enjoying it :D
a man of focus and sheer fuckin will
Modern day CDPR isnt the pro gamer company anymore they once were, they recently fully embraced ESG, so people should expect major changes.
They also fixed the blacksmith in Kaer Trolde, he is now interactable always.
So they will waste time on this and not on fixing DX12's insanely poor CPU performance...
Oh my gosh, I still have it in Corvo Bianco but cannot obtain it anymore 😭
Old CDPR: gamers want to fuck around? Let them.
New ESG CDPR: put the entitled gamers into gulags. That will teach them.
The clouds are effed up in the next-gen version. Lots of flickering in and out.
I don’t see why they would care that much, why does it matter if you want her sword out of the flash backs
I see no point in fixing exploit like that, look what you can do in Skyrim, manny bugs that break leveling system or economy, and that is still in game.
They've changed a lot from being a company run by gamers for gamers to another ESG driven corpo.
Pretty sure to get that note to appear you need to find the new victim first near the crooked house.
They should've fix all glitches in the game to deserve prevent us from getting ciri's sword
honestly this has got to to be the weirdest thing they couldve fixed out of all the bugs they know about, theres still tons of bugged quests in the game ngl, like merchants not giving discounts after quests, or just entire dialogue scenes not playing out the way they should, like...why fix this specific bug, and not the other ones that people have been complaining about since after the DLCs launched? lol
i cant get discounts from any of the merchants i did quests for, besides the elf swordsmith in novigrad (the dumpling guy).
Aw man, cdpr are such a bunch killjoys. They do the same crap with CP2077
A lot of companies do this garbage, it just takes all the fun away especially in a non pvp game there should be little to no balance after release
Would be nice if they could get all my, and other players, lost saves back ☹️
I play on PS4. Would have to log in every time the game booted and wouldn’t be able to save. Deleted all my system save files from previous version and seems to work fine now. Does seem to crash more often than before though
CD projekt really out here trying to stop Xletalis 💀 great video as always though
SOLID remix at the end lol
