You can thank - or blame - XTC for much of the British indie guitar rock that emerged from the mid 80's and right through the BritPop era. Incredible band - and a shit load better than all of those bands.
Wire were also influential, and Blur were pretty good.
should be a pinned post
wooh, this brings it all back, loved XTC from seeing them play "making plans for Nigel " on TV. I used to work in a record shop & drove everyone crazy playing " Drums & Wires " non-stop
Go Boy. Spread the word.
This dub outro to Scissor Man is incredible
Amazing everything !!!
Fantastic band, thanks for the upload!
Excellent session by the lads
I need to hear something by The Cassowaries From Hell, regardless of whether they exist or not.

X T C are Andy Partrige - Coulin Moulding - Terry Chambers - Barry Andrews
And Later Dave Gregory...
Barry left in January of 1979. David Gregory joined right after, and was present with them from the band's 3rd album to their second to last album.
Dave Gregory pictured second from right. Session produced by Tony Wilson and engineered by Dave Dade, two BBC Greats, in Studio 4 at Maida Vale.
pointing BUDOKAN
what did he mean by the "monochrome set" comment and then the "see what I mean?"
The Monochrome Set are another band who were in session the night after this was broadcast. Then there's an edit so the "see what I mean?" bit is completely unrelated.
LOL, WTF was that intro.
Steve Blease The intro is Andy Partridge joking around...apparently John Peel really liked it so they actually used it as the show intro.
