Dear Simon, Thank you again for the sharing of your knowledge. Last night I (finally!) decided to follow up on your suggestion to use a mirror. It works!
i've never used a mirror but will give it a go. i have just started making a kiln from a 60 liter oil can and some ceramic blanket ... hopefully it'll work!
Dear Simon, Thanks again for an informative clip. I always learn something new while I watch you do your thing! Would you at some point share some pictures of the finished pots you raw-glazed with the ash-glaze? And, do you fire them in an electric kiln?
@arsmagnait I am thinking this may have been it. I was using a really hard bag of white stoneware with grog when it happend. It tried out in my locker. I remoistened it some but it was still kind of hard. Guess I need to work with softer clay more!
after you wore your pot, try turning the wheel a bit when lifting the pot off and you won't have to squeeze and rock it so much. Helps with distortion.
Hi Simon, fantastic video as usual ... a couple of questions; do you ever sketch out what you want to achieve or do you just get on the wheel and let the clay and hands do the talking? second question .... do you ever put up the videos of the bloopers / outtakes. :-)
I've tried throwing mirrors, but they break, so I've stopped doing that. Your idea of throwing them with a bit of clay at the foot of the mirror is good though.
I've meant to ask you Simon - on all of your throwing videos, you have a movement of your head. What are you actually looking for? It's like you are scanning inside and outside at once - or scanning from bottom to top? Be interesting to know exactly what you are taking in so as to make adjustments.
I see what you mean Simon..each pot if a struggle because you're trying to make it look kinda like the first one lol. It's kinda tiring but fun at the same time!.
When I pull ou my walls sometimes I end up taking off a ring of clay as I am pulling up in the middle of the pot!!!! Why is that? Anyone can answer please.
As always I love learning from you! Your kitty is adorable❣️
I love your symphony of crickets in the background. Simon Thanks
