Very informative, thank you Simon. Claire
Another great informative video. Thanks.
@sleachpots Many thanks for the reply, Simon..I will try that mix myself.
@sleachpots And maybe you could even put some attached slot/holder (not sure exactly how to describe it ;) where you could slide a small note card in the top with your labeled contents...that way it could be multi-functional. Thanks Simon...really enjoyed this video!
One could make them with a little label area, a rectangle glazed with gloss white, and then one could use a marker to label the jar - like a dry erase board.
Why use that style of lid rather than the inverted dish/dome lid? Is it just to add weight to the lid or is there some consideration about how it functions in a storage jar you are considering? (seals better or something)?
Hi Simon, thanks again for all the wonderful clips! I have a quick question about the on-glaze brushwork you did over the zircopax glaze. You said that you had deliberately "toned down" the cobalt decoration in the latest firing...may I ask how you did that exactly?
Hi Simon, a quick question: how do you affix the lid upside down onto the bat when you trim it (i.e. when you put the 45 degree depression and hole in)? It must be interesting to centre since the lid is not flat. Is it a matter of putting down a centred ring of wet clay and then placing the lid on top?
I like the gas kiln Idea. I moved to virginia from florida and would rather avoid the electricians bill here and be able to have the studio where I want it. I found an abandoned warehouse with a small office attached to the front.
Simon I noticed that you have one of those kerosin heaters in the background of the jar video . Please don;t burn that thing too long it will make you punchy from the CO & CO2. Believe me I know.
Hi Simon, Quick question about your latest gas glaze firing, some of the pots you were not so happy with, would you re-fire them or is it one of those 'oh well' instances?
Yvon
I clean my mirror with a rubber scraper. Much better than smearing water on it.
