Hey! I'm the guy from the first video that was talking to Frank about biblical inspiration!
It was a very interesting conversation and I actually did a pretty long breakdown of it on my channel. Frank got a lot of pretty easy things wrong in that video, but since then he seems to have come around to some extent on at least some of the points. I know a lot of people here have mentioned how he spoke with Jimmy Akin recently and, to me, it was pretty clear in that video that Frank sees a bit more depth to the Catholic faith than he may have been aware of before.
Also, very exciting to see myself appearing on Catholic RUclips channels! Absolutely a bizarre feeling but I'm thankful for your kind words toward my performance in the conversation and for you featuring the clip in your video. God bless you and your ministry!

Protestantism is the heresy at the base of todays modernist attack on the One Holy Apostolic Catholic Church that Christ founded and the fundamental reason for its effectiveness is due to the self-righteous sincerity that is exacerbated by pious pride of its adherents and their ignorance of the factual history. This ignorance has been driven by 500 years of powerful partisan Protestant propaganda that is well documented and referenced by Rodney Stark in his book Bearing False Witness: Debunking Centuries of Anti-Catholic History.

Very true. I would also say it becomes volcanic in very subtle gestures as well, even when those gestures are truly meant in the spirit. I was a Protestant until just recently, having only just been confirmed 4 weeks ago, and I was amazed at the reaction I received when I wished "Pax Christi" to a friend of mine who lost their cat, and I received a response of "I will agree with you on the Christ part of what you said."
I think where former Catholics have anger is with the structure of the Church, and perceived rigidity, and I understand where that might come from. Sola fide and sola scriptura are easy to subscribe to because of their simplicity. But for me, when I read the Didache, Ingnatius' seventh epistle to the Smyrnaeans, Irenaeus' "Against Heresies," Augustine's work, and numerous other ancient texts which I found out were extensions of Old Testament Books, there was no doubt I had found the faith I had spent over 45 years of my life trying to find. It is awkward sometimes how often I have to implore Christ grant me His mercy and patience when people I love and am close to continually attack the Church. But for me, to use a metaphor it is comparable to "seeing the Matrix" with regard to discovering the truth of the Church due to negative spiritual interactions, and then NOT being able to EVER go back to what I previously believed. Not everyone has "seen" the Matrix, so I try my best to be patient with them and know that they are still seeking for God, they only lack in firsthand experience that would irrefutibly confirm the truth for them.
      God Bless.

@@IowerthLordThat was a very well assembled thought and put forth with a decisive elegance. I made me mindful of an analogy I use when trying out answer questions for non-Catholics who often ask; I tell them that sharing the academic “Why’s” is easy but helping people to see it is like pointing out an airplane in the sky to them which I clearly see on the point of my finger but they can’t see off the point of my finger. People must look for the nudging of the Holy Spirit as they navigate through learning. No one can tell them the wonder of God’s work. They have to learn to see it. I know I never found any of that while I explored the Prot assemblies, it was lost in the legalisms of the particular branches I was looking at… …and there were a lot of them. They have our Bible, or at least most of it, and I know what that book says and when someone is telling me something different than what it says while telling me what it says as if I am not smart enough to know what it says, well, that doesn’t work because I am far to literate to be “told” what I’m reading means something different than what it says. Perhaps I lost the Prot version of magic in that but, I don’t think there can be ‘magic’ (if you will) expected to emerge from man’s concoctions of interpretations that are not interlocked with what the words say. I heard “sola scriptura” everywhere I listened to and the Scitpures themselves tell us that everything is not in there; I heard “faith alone” from every set of lips and the only place that faith and alone appear together is after the word “not”. Then I would hear, “Ohh, for heavens sake, that doesn’t mean that”… …wha…th… who the…??? I mean, let’s at least talk about it, but, nope. After the scoffing was gone, crickets. It goes on and on, the dates the Church Jesus started ended … even though Jesus told us the gates of hell would not prevail… Baptists telling me they were the only true Church, then Grace Church people saying the same thing, followed by other places friends invited me to come with them to. Then some won’t let you leave until you get a ‘prayer partner’ new best friend who stands behind you throughout the whole service to escort you to go through their indoctrination program as if I was joining the Navy. It became hard to go to church when I was exploring the Prot Churches. I finally, after many, many years had to buck-up and take another look at the one I was “protesting” against. Anyway, That was a fun read you put out there. Thanks.

The formation of the canon truly illustrates the importance of church councils (in addition to the charism of infallibility they possess) in formulating correct doctrine and practice. Were this not the case, we would simply have no Bible.

    • @IowerthLord
      @IowerthLord 5 месяцев назад

Yes! Also for those not members of the Church who criticize the Councils, or use them to discredit the Authority of the Church - holding Councils is meant to end disputes, that is their function. It is not the Church saying "We believe this way from now on, we just didn't know it before." It does not mean that the Truth was absent prior to the Council being organized. Cain knew he had committed wrong when he slew Abel, even though "Thou shalt not kill" was put into the 10 Commandments. Nicaea, Hippo, Carthage, and Florence mentioned the Deuteroncanonicals long before Trent. Trent simply put an end to the debate.

Mary Magdalene ran to tell Peter and the beloved disciple. (John 20:2)
The vision of all foods being clean was given only to Peter. (Acts 10:9-16)
Peter's words silence the first council in Jerusalem. (Acts 15:7-12)

So there were 43 days BEFORE Christ went to Heaven. Did the good thief go ahead of the Lord to make sure the lights were on for His arrival? @@bibleman8010 the poster is correct in that the Protestants wrongly use St. Dismas (the good thief) as proof against baptism.
For them to use St. Dismas they have to read into Scripture and add to it while using the argument from silence because no where are we told if he was baptised or not but we can deduce from Scripture that he most likely was a fallen away disciple of Christ because he knew that Christ was the Lord and was going to His Kingdom after He died (Luke 23:42) Something Jesus only taught and made clear to His disciples (Matt. 13:10-16; Mark 4:10-12)
We would also use the fact that until Jesus died, was buried, rose again and ascended into heaven all Jews were still under the old covenant and baptism wasn’t instituted as part of the new covenant yet - but that there was John the baptists baptism of repentance which even Jesus and His disciples utilised (John 3:22).
It is also an example where they verse mine hoping to build their whole belief system off while ignoring the rest of the Bible - so we should be pointing out that special cases can happen because God can chose that but we shouldn’t commit the sin of presumption that God will apply that special circumstance to us.
They wouldn’t claim either their ‘faith alone’ belief that the faith of their friend is enough to save them yet we see in (Mark 2:5) this is exactly what causes Jesus to forgive a man - his friends faith.
So we should hold them to the standard they try to claim through verse mining by pointing out Scripture elsewhere asking if they are consistent or a hypocrite.

The council of Carthage in 397 was not the final canon as he says. It wasn’t until the council of Trent that the current canon was finalized and called authoritative and the council then issued an anathema to dissenters. Prior to that it wasn’t just Jerome that disagreed that the apocryphal books were not part of the canon. Between 397 and 1546 there were many popes, bishops, cardinals, priests that also didn’t agree the apocryphal books were part of the canon. Even at the council of Trent there were a significant number that didn’t agree wit the inclusion of the apocryphal books into the canon. Lastly, note that just because Jerome translated the books, that didn’t mean he agreed they were part of the canon.

As a former Protestant who used to argue against the "Apocrypha" as scripture and part of the canon of the Bible, I have reversed my position after doing more research on the topic. The more that I would try to argue against it and dug deeper, the more that I found the Protestant position is just wrong and in most cases reveals just a very surface understanding of the topic. Most Protestants think 1 of 2 things (or both) in regard to the Deuterocanon. 1) The Catholics "added the books" and/or 2) They follow the "Jewish Scriptures" and think that they had their own canon at the time of Jesus Christ.
The argument about "not an infallible list", is just a weak attempt at a work around to avoid admitting the authority of the Church. If you just say that its an infallible list then you don't have to admit that the Church had the authority to say which books were and weren't scripture.

The feast of dedication is hannukah - no where in the Protestant OT books is there any mention of the feast of dedication because the only book it is mentioned in is Maccabees
So they don’t realise that when they try to discredit the deuterocanon they are making the claim Jesus celebrated a non Jewish feast from books Catholics added to the canon that Jews supposedly rejected - meaning Jews celebrate a feast that is no where in their books…

Hebrews 11:35, there are 3 OT examples, from 1 Kings 17 where Elijah saved a mistress’s son, 2 Kings 4 where Elisha does the same thing, but these are in view in the first half of the verse. 2 Maccabees 7 is where all a woman’s sons are tortured and martyred in view of the bodily resurrection. This latter example is more indicated with the second half of the verse saying “some were tortured and would not accept deliverance in order to obtain a better resurrection.” The first two examples don’t fit with that part. There is no example of this martyrdom in the Protestant OT, it only comes from Maccabees.

Sad but true. In a critique of Protestantism, I said this:
”The individual interpretation inherent in Protestantism can logically result in each believer forming their own conception of Jesus, based on their personal beliefs. This could potentially lead to the existence of thousands of different versions of Jesus. However, it's important to remember that Jesus imparted one set of true teachings, as there is only one truth. When each believer creates their own version of Jesus based on their comfort level, it could possibly lead to a form of Christianity that diverges significantly from what Jesus originally intended and into heresy. This highlights the importance of adhering to the original teachings and understanding their true essence."

As even in the same sentence they quote it literally provides us with the context to interpret mediator, which is the one who paid the ransom for sins. It's also in this chapter where it also goes onto say how after being born in Christ we've been set apart to do good works which God has created for us, but apparently good works don't mean anything 🙄

This is a reason I didn't become Protestant. They have this bizarre tendency to cherry pick single verses and radicalize their meaning without any regards to what an entire chapter is saying or how their interpretation unknowingly contradicts another section in scripture. They also have a habit of giving the impression of thinking they know exactly what Catholics believe, teach and practice (as well as other churches and even other religions) while disappointingly demonstrating they actually do not. I'm not sure what it is about Protestant culture that makes them do this but it drives me crazy.

@@jaranarm true, not only that but they're so divorced from the Jewish connection of faith that they don't realise the significance of aspects of the faith like praying for the dead, communion of saints, High Priest, Ark of the covenant etc etc. Whereas Catholic church and to an extent the orthodox who have that lineage to the apostles can say this was taught and accepted by the early church as this particular belief was strongly held by the Jewish faith and here's how it fits into the new covenant i.e. Christ's sacrifice. It's why I love Dr Brant Pitre's work on "the Jewish roots of..." As he shows what the Jews professed and believed in their sources like the Talmud that ties into the keys of the kingdom and Eliakhim (think that's the correct spelling) in Isiah and how the keys would be entrusted to the new office upon Peter i.e. the Papacy. It constantly blows my mind how much isn't known to protestants, like the Ante-Nicene Father's writings which even had an account by St John the apostle on the assumption of Mary. I must point out here that Church Father's writings are not infallible statements, and their arguments are merely reflections of their own private opinions. When some say St. Jerome was against the inclusion of the seven books, they are merely showing his personal opinion of them. Everyone is entitled to his own opinion. However, A PERSONS PRIVATE OPINION DOES NOT CHANGE THE TRUTH AT ALL. There are always three sides to every story, this side, that side, and the side of truth. Whether Jerome's position, or Augustine's position was the correct position, had to be settled by a third party, and that third party was the Catholic Church.😜😜

@@julieoelker1865 It is a great mystery, since, of course, we believe that those who enter into the eternal joy of Heaven are no longer sad and worried by what is happening on earth. So, if we pray to a Saint, about some very great trouble which we are experiencing, if he can hear our prayer and intercede for us, would not that interrupt the Beatific Vision? Causing him worry and concern? There is, I am sure, a proper answer to that question. On the other hand, if we pray directly to the Lord but in the name of a Saint, for example, by praying that we shall have the same courage as a particular Saint, or the same love and compassion as another Saint, known, in each case for these particular virtues, then the Saint is not interrupted in the Beatific Vision.

James White said that Jerome didn't believe in Mary as a perpetual virgin, but those dudes in this video refuted those claims using Jerome's works to prove thelat he did hold that position and they show other earlier sources that shows us that the concensus was that she is a perpetual virgin. Calling upon intercession from the Saints and Mary is not denying that saving sacrifice of our Lord anymore that those of us here on earth praying for each other. To follow this guy's logic would mean there is no need for prayer at all.

This is good and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man, Christ Jesus."
      1Timothy 2:1-5
Jesus is the one Mediator of our salvation, our only Saviour. But He is not our only intercessor, as the whole passage above clearly indicates. So the one passage that fundamentalists have used to deny intercessionary prayer, when read in context, actually backs up intercessionary prayer.😘😘

Though he made a list of all the things the good thief did not do. How could he know? As a jew there is a good chance he would have read the torah.
He was sympathetic to Jesus while on the cross. Maybe he had heard of Jesus, as he had become famous for his teaching and miracles. Perhaps he had beento one of his gatherings out of curiosity and had started to believe.
Lots of people were baptised by John could he have been one.
As there is nothing said about the thief we do not know who he realy was. All we know is that he was beside Jesus on the cross.
His words to Jesus could be seen as a proto-cofesssion. So you might say that, that was one sacrament he recieved.

I think Jerome's point was that it would be impossible to convince Jews who reject Jesus to accept Him as their messiah if they continued to use those books as evidence which the Jews don't consider scripture. Christians would need to meet the Jews on common ground instead and rely on only those books that they both considered canon.
The collection now referred to as the Protocanon is a collection of inspired scripture that both Jews and Christians consider scripture and the Deuterocanon is the remaining collection of inspired books.

I would like to know from Mr. Turek where in the Bible Jesus Christ or the apostles abolished the ordained priesthood. Besides the special authority Jesus Christ gave his apostles you mentioned, Paul used in Tim. 4: 14 the expressions "grace of ordination" and "priesthood", at least according to the German translation from P. Gebhard Heyder. And we know from the church fathers end first/beginning 2nd century A.D. that the ministry of a bishop and deacon belonged to the higher ranked hierarchy of the church and that they were ordained as you said by lying their hands on them.
In the official New American English translation of the Vatican, Paul describes the ordination to the priesthood in 1 Tim. 4: 14 as follows:
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1 Tim. 4:14
Do not neglect the gift you have, which was conferred on you through the prophetic word 8 with the imposition of hands of the PRESBYTERATE.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
English isn't my native language, but as far as I know, presbyterate is a synonym for priesthood. In German the word "Priester" in English "priest" is derived from the Greek word "presbyteros". Priests are called mostly "elders" in the Bible, but in biblical terminology, it means a shepherd, a person of authority who cares for the believers. It's the ministry of the priest.
We know from the early church fathers end of the first century A.D. and, the beginning of the second century A.D. that the ministry of a deacon, a bishop, and a priest was only given by ordination. If I'm wrong, somebody can correct me.
And Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5: 18-19
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And all this is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and given us the ministry of reconciliation,
namely, God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting their trespasses against them and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paul writes here the ministry of reconciliation was given through Christ to the apostles. So the Bible confirms the catholic sacrament of the ordained priesthood.

Not sure he even understands what Frank explained. The Bible is clear that books are authoritative, the Bible contains zero lists that are authoritative. So biblically, only books are authoritative and list are not authoritative. A list just shows which books are authoritative, that is all.

    • @bibleman8010

There is only one mediator between Man and God. The Catholic Catechism clearly states four times that Jesus is the ONLY mediator between God and Man (Paragraphs 618, 956, 1544, and 2574)
Christ's role as the only mediator is that he sacrificed himself for the remission of sin.
The Catholic Church has always believed that Jesus Christ is the one mediator between God and man. It is the death and resurrection of Jesus alone by which people are saved.

17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not [g]prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth [h]will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
"you are Peter, and on this rock"
Jesus was not referring to Peter as "this rock"
"This rock" is the revelation Peter spoke out " You are the Christ, the Son of the living God".
And to whoever knows and see and believe this revelation is , "the keys of the kingdom" given to.
As a Christian, you have these keys.
you can ask yourself this, why didnt Jesus say " you are Peter and on you I will build My church"
check the word for Peter ("petros" - stone) and Check the word for "this rock" - ("petra" - huge mass of rock), two different greek words .
this is the same word Jesus uses in Matthew 7:25 about the one who build his house on the rock.
    Peter was a great man
But The Church is build on our Lord Jesus Christ not Peter or anyone or any denomination.
The Rock is also the vision Daniel explained, the rock that filled up the whole earth.
