None of this was supposed to happen. The altercation, Luka furiously punching himself…none.
And the series should not have been tied. Let me explain what I mean.
This was basically a must win game for the Thunder, as it’s extremely tough to come back from 3-1. So they came out ready to save their season.
OKC continued their game plan of loading up on Luka and Kyrie and hounded them, making every shot difficult.
The duo was limited to a combined 27 points on a horrible 10 for 31 from the field. That’s 27 points total for the 2 of them.
But despite that, the role players stepped up and used the opportunity. Especially P.J. Washington.
So Dallas had control for the entire game, and most of the time it was a double digit lead.
And at the start of the fourth, it looked like the Mavs were throwing the deciding blow.
The young OKC team had their back against the wall on the road, but that’s when they came back swinging.
These types of clutch shots by the role players in a massive moment of the season are not supposed to happen. A young and inexperienced team responding like this in a do or die game is unlike anything I’ve seen.
Which brought the tension up and we got this…
The thunder hung around enough to give their superstar the opportunity to completely take over scoring 4 straight buckets when it mattered the most. Absolutely destroying the Mavs defense shot after shot.
And just like that they tie the game. But then, things completely escalate…
What a shot by Chet, and now all of a sudden the Mavs fall behind.
The war continued on every play, as no team would give up. Dallas played from behind and kept this a close game. And OKC continued to shock the world by making plays and hitting shots in these crucial moments.
So in the final seconds with a chance to tie or take the lead, the Mavs put the ball in Luka’s hands, he attacks the bucket forcing the ref to blow the whistle.
Buut at the line, this happens…
Luka misses a clutch free throw and during the time out is visibly upset on the bench.
Obviously now they have to play the foul game but the Thunder once again prove their worth by staying ice cold at the line, and also having the presence of mind to foul up three and not allow a potential game tying shot.
proves to be a great decision as Washington also misses a free throw, and Shai goes to the line one last time with a chance to secure the win and he stays ice cold doing just that.
This series should not have been tied. A young and inexperienced team going down by 8 in the fourth on the road, with all the momentum on the side of the home team, and to hit some colossal shots and come back. This doesn't happen often. This OKC team is absolutely special.
And I’m glad I’m watching them grow in real time. That’s what I meant in the intro.

Moving on to Cleveland, where the home team had a support by none other than LeBron James in the first row, as they were looking to possibly tie the series, but when the news about Donovan Mitchell not playing in game 4 broke out, Celtics fans perked up and had this game already checked. Including Jayson Tatum.
He came out firing on all cylinders, scoring 16 1st quarter points looking unstoppable on the court. But, the Cavaliers tightened up the screws on defense in the 2nd quarter and led by Garland and Strus on offense made a run to make it a tight game going into the break.
In the 3rd however it was Jaylen Brown’s time, as we see once again that he’s lethal when he decides to put his head down and attack the rim.
Going into the 4th quarter the Celtics did have a comfortable 10 point lead, and with this beautiful fadeaway jumper, Brown made it a 15 point game.
It’s game over right? Wrong. Cleveland goes on a 8-0 run and makes it a 7 point game, as the home crowd erupts.
This turned into a back and forth battle, with Boston looking a bit insecure in the clutch, making some questionable decisions as the Cavs continued cutting the lead little by little, and they even had a chance to make it a one possession game when.. (Mobley layup 3:15, Levert 1:55 fileri)
On the other end, the punishment arrives quickly when..
Jaylen Brown buries the hopes of Cavs fans with this 3pt dagger which proved to be enough at the end, as Boston now takes a commanding 3-1 lead going back home with a chance to end this series in the next game.

Ppl gonna blame anything and everything on everyone else but themselves…. Thunder fought hard as well the mavs, even without good shooting percentages and decision making. This is what the playoffs are all about, the fight and intensity and this game was just that

Luka has not been good the entire playoffs and why is Kyrie so unaggressive scoring, he been great in other aspects but relying on DJJ & PJ Washington to be the main scorers not gonna work
It worked in the last game, just not last night. OKC was loading up on them, so they had to trust PJ and them.
The reason DJJ and PJ scored a lot in the first place is because thunder is focusing their defence on Luka and Kyrie

Kyrie is making the right plays instead of forcing tough shots.But I would rather lose by him taking a tough contested half court shot than DJJ taking wide open threes in the clutch..
Mavs fan here. I was just chillin in my recliner with a smile on my face for 75% of this game.. by the time the last 3 minutes came around. I was standing with my arms crossed right in front of the tv. If we had literally made some FREE THROWS Mavs would be up 3-1. 😠

Loving the playoff content
This wasn’t some defensive triumph for OKC. Luka and Kyrie aren’t right, Luka can barely walk upright these days. If Luka and Kyrie hit even half their shots last night we win, if we made free throws we win, if the bench showed up… point is OKC didn’t do anything to cause the bad shooting performance. It was just a crappy night.

Why does it feel like the refs help Boston every game. Sure the Cavs do foul Boston, that’s fair, but then Boston fouls Cleveland the same ways and no calls? I’m a heat fan and I saw a lot of this in the Miami series as well. Boston takes double, almost triple the amount of free throws each game. I would like the refs of the games to be officiated fairly. If Boston wins the title this year with the refs helping them the rest of the way I will not respect this ring at all. Come on NBA, your better than this.
The Cavs shot 16 more threes than the Celtics, so they weren't getting to the line as much. They were forcing turnovers, which was keeping them in the game.
This game came down to the Mavs blowing it, imo. They just couldn’t stop throwing bricks.

Can’t Win Turnovers And Miss Free Throws
In the second quarter, broadcaster mentioned something rare.. He said that Mavs had 15 fouls and OKC had no fouls.....even when we saw okc hitting and hitting everytime, like a normal playoff game.... This is why I think that maybe one bad referee decision may not affect the result. But 15 decisions against one single team and the other nothing??? The team that was benefited with this was OKC. We try to think that refs are not crooked but....Check the rep of the game. He literally said 15-0. That is a fact that makes anyone think.And they were slashing Luka and Kyrie all the time. It is impossible to be Cero fouls....That is just a fairy tale.
