[Epic 2] MAP01: Entrance (UV-Max Demo)

been poking at a number of different wads in the background, as you do. it's probably going to be the case that i can record demos a lot faster than i can upload them now, especially if it's not too tricky like this is. so i might have to pick and choose some. but i really liked epic and eternal's stuff in general and have been meaning to take a look at this for a while. i don't know what it is about ancient egypt but scientists agree that it's the best fps setting you can get.
anyway i say that this map was easy but i actually had a surprisingly tricky time. part of this map is easing you into eternal's chosen aesthetics for the wad - zombies get extra voice lines, imps are black, the pistol has a new beefy sound but the same shrimpy damage, and so on. but the environmental stuff - what is interactable especially - can sometimes be a little confusing. there's a berserk in this level behind a wall with an ankh on it in the room with all the pinkies and i couldn't for the life of me figure that out. and without that berserk, you're definitely not going to walk away with all the kills. it's not tagged as a secret, and i'm not sure if it's meant to be obvious, but it certainly wasn't to me. but once i got everything sorted and understood, it winds up being a strong introduction to the wad. special shoutout to shooting through the wood planks at the start of the level, that's pretty cute.

I haven't played this wad yet, well maybe the first 4 or 5 maps or so but this is definitely on my list of stuff I need to play. Watching this playthrough is gonna be fun. This midi is iconic, not only for this map but also because of its use in Scythe ll. I'm looking forward for more ! Nice work.
