    A lot of Chinese knockoffs are coming from the OEM factory where the 'name brand' import guitars are made, that's where you want to get your knockoffs from.

  • @hideoutdodge01
    @hideoutdodge01 Год назад +7

    I picked up one of the Chinese copies as well, when it showed up the box was so light I thought it was empty, (Guitar probably weighs 4.5lbs). I installed the proper Black Tusq nut myself as well as leveling and polishing the frets, then added a TonePros Adjustable wraparound, a SD JB pickup and a set of locking tuners. She sounds great and stays in tune while playing for an 60-90min, but if I put it down and come back to it a day later.... it needs re-tuned.

    Just my opinion, but I think building something similar with a qualified luthier would be a good idea, you can spec it how you want and have him build it for you. Sure there is a turnaround time and labor cost, but it can be done at a reasonable price

      @JimXalive 3 месяца назад +1

      Nope , a Luthier , a good one , charges the same or more expensive than the original .

    About the neck angle - the old BC Rich guitars with wraparound bridges had absurd angles from the factory. They're the only guitars I've seen with such a thing. I'll have to snag a pic of my Beast- it's like a ski hill lol

  • @spoonerluv
    @spoonerluv Год назад +2

    The neck angle reminds me of a TOM bridge angle. I'd have to see the guitar in person to really make a comparison.

    Glad you persevered dude… I think the scary thing is the fret spacing is it like jumbo sized frets?

    • @robertknight906
      @robertknight906  Год назад +4

      They are jumbo frets, yes. This has the lowest action of any guitar that I have. That’s a good thing and a bad thing though. I use to freak out if my action was even a tad bit high but I’ve seen the benefits of medium to higher action.

  • @javathemocha
    @javathemocha Год назад +6

    These can actually be pretty sweet. Mine also had problems though. The main thing was after the level/recrown, I also had to drill my bridge posts further into the body so that I could get action that was low enough. After that, it plays great. Neck's a little thicker than I wanted but it's very doable.

      do you have a link for that aliexprees copy? I would really like to see it myself and probably buy it XD

    • @javathemocha
      @javathemocha Год назад

      @@lengiwioslarz7431 Mine was actually from DH Gate, which is a similar Chinese wholesale website.
      The problem is that most of these storefronts exist on multiple sites, and they frequently close shops and open new ones with the same items (maybe as a way of skirting negative reviews). So sadly, finding the specific page I purchased from is basically impossible.
      There's a ton of options out there, but you will absolutely need a qualified luthier if you want to be able to play these. All said and done, my guitar was around $300 and then I put $100 of setup work into it and bought a $100 pickup for it.

    • @jeremyrobertson7267
      @jeremyrobertson7267 Год назад

      @@javathemochawhy waste that money on a pickup, which you can get a set of dimarzio super-distortions on here for $25 at most and I’ve bought plenty of these and they’re probably better than the real deal! Better quality wires and harness for sure and otherwise exactly the same in look and sound or function! I have lost the off pair or 2 thru the mail or something but generally, I’ve had nothing but good things to say about them in particular!!!!

    • @javathemocha
      @javathemocha Год назад +1

      @@jeremyrobertson7267 because I didn't need a set (the guitar only has 1 pickup route) and I don't like the super distortions. I opted for a D'Activator X in a custom color.

    I like buying cheapies for the very reason that i modify them to my specs and most guitars on the shelves are a compromise
    And i do have a gib V that feels and plays fantastic and sounds very musical

  • @MaximusAdonicus

    I've actually always thought Chuck played a Jackson Warrior! 🙉 I just identified the shape years ago and thought it was that, I didn't even know BC Rich had a similar shape! When I saw this vid I thought "Oh, he played BC Rich too? Must have been some short phase before he got his Jacksons" 🙉
    Anyhoo, 600$ is way too much for a knockoff! You could get a premium name brand guitar for that 😬 The OG price of 300$ would have been okayish if the guitar was half good...
    Those Chinese hotrails, at least Fleor, sound really good in clips! Also on ur vid they seem to sound very gnarly 🔥 I predict that those X2N's will only produce 0-10% improvement in sound...
    Also, 100$ tuners?! Damn, are they made of gold?!

    i had a bc rich stealth exotic and it was a really bad guitar i ordered it from thomann new. neck dive was horrible, the electricity was really bad, and that bridge i bought new bridge for that because it just moved around i couldn't tighten it and the guitar could not be placed properly on low action because that bridge and same with the new bridge aswell. Sold it like a year ago. it's a shame that such a great looking guitar was so bad and overpriced. 1400 euros.

    As a substitute for the stealth, which for context i really REALLY wanted, i instead looked at jacksons selection of warriors. Its no bc rich tried and true stealth, but its a mean lookin mf. I found my Jackson at a pawn shop. 600 with the case. WRX24 in nature with Duncans. It is by far my most metal and most comfy guitar. Im layin down death riffs every night after work. Its great. I really do hope one day I stumble upon a bc rich Chuck sig model. Your review was great man.

  •  9 месяцев назад +1

    Well, don’t expect a 800/1200$ quality guitar if you paid less than 300, you have to have on mind that you’ll have to make some upgrades on it if you want something decent to great, i want to get a white warlock with reversed headstock because i know i won’t find anything like that under 400$, but i know that i will need to take another 250$ for some upgrades to make that guitar pro level, im not expecting to get a Chinese copy with fishmans, hipshot tuners and correct fret job with 280$
    If you want something great with good quality on wood and hardware since day 1, save more money and get the real thing

      Totally agree. It will never be the real thing. And it definitely doesn’t feel as premium as a name brand guitar. It works nicely for my purposes right now. If I find a real one at a decent price for sure I’ll snatch it up. Thanks for the feedback!
