Thank you so much, Sheikh. MasyaAllah I feel more contented after listening to this. I am not a person of knowledge, Sheikh, and am constantly told to wear brighter and better clothes because 'Allah loves to see His marks of blessings on His servants' and told to be more vivacious and extroverted because 'Muslims must be bold' and always, a fellow Muslim colleague will have something to say. And all I want is to be left alone to worship Allah and have quiet intimacy with Him. Your words soothed me.
I relate to this too much. It's good to know I'm not alone.
Ohh, you relate to this, too? I'm sure you too felt serenity wash over you when it came to the part, where Rasulullah SAW said Hayya', is the distinguishing criterion of Islam :) arent we lucky to have been selected by Allah Taala for devotion to Him. I dont know you, but I pray for you, that serenity abides in you. Ameen. I am with you in spirit
May Allah Grant you Him, ameen!
Baraka Allahu feekum for always pushing us to do some self-checking through your gentle and kind words. It’s the ego that is causing so much hurt in our time.
اللهم إنا نعوذ بك أن نشرك بك شيئا نعلمه، ونستغفرك لما لانعلمه
I believe the birds chirping in background might be angels : )
May Allah grant us Ihsaan in our deeds and humble us always. Ameen.

“Polytheism of Status Seeking:
We care about God’s opinion.
But we also really care a lot about the world’s opinion.”
Thank you Shaik for sharing your wisdom and listening to the birds sing was the cherry on top.
I had a major period in my life where my sense of competence depended solely on external validation through things like social media likes and popularity. It was a torturous cycle of constantly comparing myself to others based on appearance, status and materialistic things. I decided to delete my social media 2 years ago and I’ve now come to realize how enslaving and exhausting that life was.
Kudos to you! Starting to quit is the hardest step and being consistent is another, all the best and may God keep you protected from all the unnecessary distractions 🙏
May Allah bless you, Shaykh Murad! You're a blessing for our hearts!
Jazakalah Alfa khayran
Such luminary person is sheikh..❤️
It speaks to who we really long to be deep down inside. That takes moral courage and humility. Ramadan Mubarak lovers of Allah!

Thank you for reminding very beautifully again about focus of Ramadan!
awe-inspiring insights as always, Subhaan ALLAH 🙏💖
Such a beautiful much needed message in our current times 😊❤️🌺
One word: Excellent.
Over humility may, at times, be a reflection of a not exhibited yet greater ego! It comes to light when you challenge them.
Can you explain more?
"the self that wants to be the qibla of mankind".....jazakamulakhair for sharing ur wisdom, make you become beloved to Allah swt
Ameen
Good explanation, MashaAllah
Lovely settings for deep reflection.
بارك الله فيك وحفظك شيخنا الجليل
Barak Allah feek, That was the best 20 minutes i have all day.
Subhanallah. Terima kasih! Thank you for the beautiful reminder.
Asalam alaikum, I have a request. Please upload these talks to the Cambridge Muslim college podcast! It hasn't been updated it quite some time! (not since December). Listening to this audio during my commute would help me alot.
We're working on it. Please keep us in your prayers.
JazakaAllah khair for this very meaningful message. It is so timely, urgent, and appreciated. I needed to hear this for my own deep reflection, self-evaluation, and personal calibration.
جزاك الله خيرا

A real scholar.
ESHEDU EN LA IL LAHE IL ALLAHU VE ESHEDU ENE MUHAMMEDIN ABDUHU VERESULLUHU......
بارکالله و ماشاالله
These are true words of wisdom. Thank you for sharing them with all of us. Will try to the best of my ability to follow them. Indeed Shaitan always makes fame the most desired object in life.
subhanAllah this is such an amazing reminder. Jazakallah Khairan
I fear that Sheik Murad would restrict his public appearance for the reasons he states in this talk which would be a loss for the ummah. May Allah protect him and all the scholars from the danger of pride, so that we continue to benefit from them.
That is the danger here indeed
Ameen
"..religion (deen) really inverts the normal hierarchy of the world"
SunhanAllah, very impressive and inspiring.
May Almighty Allah give the Shaykh a long life and make us benift from his knowledge and wisdom. May He Subhanahu wa Ta'ala save us from the greed of fame and showing off, Ameen.
جزاکم اللہ خیرا۔
Ameen
Alhamdulillahi rabbil al amin.
الحمدالله
even if im far from being the person who seeks celebrity, this just reminded me of how many times i was proud when crushing some commentator on social media or youtube while i had answers about religion or politics or in science he doesnt have .... whatever i may claim it wasnt done to show off, i know deep inside i was proud seeing the likes on my answer .... im trying to live a normal islamic life, and i really seek paradise...... but at this moment, hearing that, and trying to rewind all these moments i thought doing good by preaching islam to non muslims by answering comments or anything, and wallah sometimes it takes an hour to formulate one answer with proper links and proofs, all of this could worth nothing, in that moment you understand how a normal muslim not necessarily knowledgeable could beat you so easily..... better doing one good action for the sake of allah fearing that it wont be accepted, fearing celebrity, than doing so much and having that part in yourself being proud (even if that wasnt the main objective) that people agrees and clap to your deed.... la hawla wa la qouwwa illa bi Allah
MashaAllah
@16:19 Hadith that "Whoever does a good thing, a good sunnah in Islam, or introduces a good practice into Islam shall have his reward and the reward of those who acted with it until the day of judgement."
masha'Allah
I always fall asleep listening to your serene heavenly voice. I pray I meet you someday. JazakAllah.
May Allah bless the sheikh in his health and life so that we can continue to benefit from his speech.
Mashallah very important message in ramadan my Allah bless you ameen
Ameen
wala i love you for the sake of Allah...
All due respect to Sheikh Murad. This Man of truth and holiness has chased and embraced The Truth and the language it was brought down by The Holy Ghost Angel Gabriel peace be on him. It's in our nature to aquire fame and be known by the masses. Good for you brother. You know that ALLAH chose for you to be what and who you are today. Praise MOHAMMAD AND HIS PURE INFALLIBLE HOUSEHOLD. Peace.
We want more, please. Please I request dear Sheikh.
السلام عليكم و ورحمة الله، I hope the CMC community is doing well inshaa’llah. It is with great curiosity I look forward to Ramadan program for this year. I wonder what amazing treasures the college has planned for the Muslim ummah. I will be there inshaa’llah and I am sure every learning moment will be enjoyed. May Allah bless you all for all of your great deeds.
JazakAllah brother. You were referring to the "malamatiyyah" sect of the sufis, who would made sure that their faults be known to the public and would hide their piety.
Wow. This video sums up what I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. I’ve come to realize that being desperate in seeking worldly external validation automatically puts you at a state of inferiority and fragility as you enslaved to human beings’ opinions of you. This form of enslavement, and hidden idolatry distracts from the fact that we are only slaves of Allah (not people’s opinions of us) and are here to serve a purpose.
"500 series Mercedes" - One sign the Sheikh leads a humble life lacking knowledge of material luxury is how he misquoted the model. In this age of social media influencers most people would know about luxury car models.
Shaykh Abdal Hakim doesn't even have a car of his own; he travels entirely by public transport as far as I know.
This is a month where the parts that are devils are replaced and it is certainly true that intentions and other consciousness is where to start.
"A lover has four streams inside,
of water, wine, honey, and milk.
Find those in yourself and pay no attention
to what so-and-so says about such-and-such.
The rose does not care
if someone calls it a thorn, or a jasmine
Ordinary eyes categorize human beings.
That one is a Zoroastrian. This one, a Muslim.
Walk instead with the other vision given you, your first eyes.
Do not squint, and do not stare blankly like a vulture.
Those who love fire fall into the fire.
A fly slips from the edge into the whey.
If you are in love with the infinite,
why grieve over the ground washing away in the rain?
Bow to the essence in a human being.
A desert drinks war-blood,
but if it knew this secret, springs would rise, rose gardens.
Do not be content with judging people good and bad.
Grow out of that. The great blessing is
that Shams has poured a strength into the ground that lets us wait and trust the waiting."
