Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad reminds us that honouring the elderly is part of honouring God, something that early Muslim leaders were acutely aware of. This is in sharp contrast to today's epidemic of loneliness that society tries to mask with televisions and pensions.

What a wonderful Jumma Khutba in view of current issues relating to the care and well being of the older generation. It is a privilege to listen to Dr Shaykh Murad’s (considered by many as the Al Gazali of our time) superb lecture, full of examples of service to the old and helpless by the true rulers, especially by great leaders like Caliph Omar. At 9:30 of the video I couldn’t hold my tears. May Allah grant the Shaykh a very long and purposeful life to serve the ummah, Ameen.

A beautiful voice in a world that needs it.
Please remember that it is not only the elderly who can be left overlooked and lonely. The disabled, the divorced, the economically disadvantaged. As Muslims there is a lot of social pressure to pretend that things are better than they are, to smile and not complain. This puts the owness on others to open their eyes and ears, to ponder ' how would I feel if..' Please,use your imagination and look for isolation in every crowd,it will be there behind the brightest of smiles.
Mashallah what a beautiful khutba ow allah grant the sheikh the highest place in jannah and forgive him

I looked at the people
With a critical eye
And found fault in everyone
I looked at myself
With a critical eye
And found goodness in everyone
I gazed longingly
At blessings the people possessed
And became unhappy
I began to gaze at the blessings I possessed
And became forever grateful
I waited for people to greet me
And became haughty
I greeted the people first
And became humble
I expected people to forgive me
And became arrogant
I began to forgive people
And became compassionate
I thought others blameworthy
And my ego inflated
I believed myself blameworthy
And my conscious responded
I watched those who strived for the world
And became complacent
I watched those who sacrificed for deen
And became productive
I looked towards the worldly folk to emulate
And lost myself
I looked towards the Godfearing people
And found myself
I looked for a middle road in life
And found it in Islam
I searched for the ideal Human being
And found my beloved Rasoollullah ﷺ
I searched everywhere for Peace
And found it
In the Remembrance of Allah
Who wrote this poem
Do not be Harsh
Selfish
Greedy
Miserly
Fake
Arrogant
Or Satan will deceive you
Be
Gentle
Compassionate
Emphathic
Generous
Sincere
Humble
For Allah will love you
And by the will of Allah
The Angels will love you
The People will love you

Mashallah. Would the Shaykh five a lecture some time, about the secularisation of Turkey, the destruction of its language and every thing that happened there.
Subhan'allah, my eyes were tearing up listening to another of SAHM's impeccable talks.
In Islam we have our heroes like Umar bin Al Khattab, an emperor who ruled Arabia, Egypt, Persia and part of Byzantine , who used to go to an elderly widow woman and clean her house and feed her children. When and where in the history you'd find someone like our heroes?!
A timely reminder delivered with great wisdom. This khutbah certainly made me think and reflect on a lot of things. Jazakallah
In the breaking of dawn
The passing of the night
The rising of the Sun
And the hymming of sparrows
I saw you Allah
In the drops of rain
The sprouting of seeds
The blooming of the rose
And the scents of Spring
I saw you Allah
In the union of marriage
The signs of conception
The endurance of a mother
And the birth of a child
I saw you Allah
In the play of the toddler
The passions of youth
The dedication of a father
And the shield of morality

The soreness of the heart
The weakness of limbs
And the consolement from prayer

O Sisters and Brothers of Palestine
Allah has not forsaken you

O Blessed Brethren of Palestine
Allah has chosen You
For the protection of Al Aqsa
And the Ummah has not forgotten you
حَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيْل
O Beloved family of Palestine
Our hearts bleed for you
We feel your pain
And our tears have turned bitter
حَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيْل
Please forgive us
For we are helpless
And we do not posses the Power
To stop the Oppression
Or to help you, in defending Palestine
حَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيْل
But many of our Souls, are with you in Palestine
And the Ummah is praying for you
To the Just and Powerful
Almighty Lord
حَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيْل
O brave and patient, sisters and brothers of Palestine
Insha-Allah
Very soon, Allah will bring ease
And you will not be defeated
For Indeed Allah is with you
Indeed Allah is with you

And Insha-Allah
Soon you will be Victorious

The secrets
Of the 'Ismul-Azam'
Are concealed
Within the whisper
Of the broken heart💔
Which readily attracts
Divine acceptance
Be careful...
Dear dedicated fathers of Humanity
Allah has been watching over you
With love and admiration
And when he had granted
Your silent prayer
Allah saw the joyful hope
On the birth of your Son
And the protective caress
When you held your little Daughter
Gently in your arms
Allah appreciated your every toil and effort
In fulfilling their many needs
And Allah understood
Your hope, anxiety and fear
As the children grew
Allah saw your restless nights
And caring servitude
Allah agreed to your reprimanding
And smiled at your play
Allah saw you liberally spend
In educating them
And how you never cared
For your empty pockets
Allah saw your difficulties
In teaching them right from wrong
And Allah heard your heartfelt prayer
To protect and guide them
Allah knew how frightened you were
When you found your child a spouse
He saw your tearful joy, and pain
In so abruptly, having to let go
Indeed
Allah does not take the good deeds
Of his abiding servant, for granted
And Verily Allah has said
To the children of Man
That his pleasure lies
In pleasing the Father
And the Father indeed
Is the door to their Paradise
Either the children, protect it
By pleasing their father
Or destroy it
In disobedience to him
