Really? I guess it was definitely fitting then. The only thing that would have made it better is if they did Have You Ever Seen the Rain instead of Proud Mary
Just think all those electric guitars and the twins r in 6 inch heels and prince is also in heels with all that rain hitting the stage!!! Prince dominating in rain and all!!!!
The day they played football at a Prince concert. They have a survey every year for Superbowl Halftime performances and Prince has been #1. I think it's due to the fact that Prince was live. No recorded music. No lip singing either which Prince hated. Totally LIVE. And in the rain💜. By the way, that was Prince's personal stage. Shaped like the Love Symbol. Singing with him is Shelby J. This was her first time singing with Prince.
Simply...iconic. The set list calculus is rock-forward as you said since all of middle America is watching the game: We Will Rock You - a standard sports anthem (that even Prince haters will respond to); Let's Go... - a rock-oriented song and party starter; 1999/Baby I'ma... - allows for the use of a classic football tradition of a marching band & the brass sound that's such a huge part of PRN's music; Proud Mary - play something everybody knows, after all...grandpa's watching the game with the fam; Watchtower/Best of You - classic rock for the parents/modern rock for the youngins; Purple Rain - ...because, well, Purple Rain. 💜
Unbelievable performance. Live! The sheet thing I took that as just a cool silhouette. I didn’t take that as suggestive with the guitar placement at all. I just thought it was cool. He was so professional and I think they wanted a clean show due to the Janet Jackson half time show with Justin Timberlake. Loved this and thought the best half time show
I love this reaction. A little more context to this. This is after the Janet Jackson nipple super bowl. NFL and media wanted some one they thought would be FCC safe. They picked Prince because of his righteous views. 😂😂So Prince only promised that it would be tasteful 😂✊🏿😎. It was 😂❤
You should check out his performance at the NAACP awards. It’s great because he allows other performers with him to shine, along with a few special guests.
Still the BEST halftime show ever! I drive by Paisley Park every day when I go to work. I took a tour there, and they play this halftime show on a loop as you enter the gift shop on the end of the tour. It is unbelievable!
The estate released a few books after Prince passed. One of them was about the instruments he had and in the photos you can see water damage from this performance. Fascinating. More so than nothing shorted out during the performance. Electricity and water usually don’t play well together. We were lucky to get to experience Prince while he was here.
Arsenio hall tv show 1991 Prince “let’s go crazy/Kiss” highly energetic performance. Prince 1991 mtv awards infamous sexual “Gett off” performance. Prince “DMSR” live in Detroit musicology tour 2004. A wild energetic performance. Any video from the 2009 montreux jazz festival prince concert. “Little red Corvette” (slow down version) a jazz rock version. “Love like Jazz” or “eye love u, but eye don’t trust I anymore”(heartbreak song-brilliantly sung in a jazz rendition).
To start off with, I'm glad the person said don't blink or you'll miss it. A lot of people do reactions and look away or close their eyes, and they do miss something. He may have prerecorded his show, but Prince did the show live as only he would do. They say it wasn't supposed to rain that day. You can play a wireless guitar with a battery operated amplifier in the rain. If you watch closely, you'll see that his guitar isn't hooked up to any outlets. His guitar to this day has water damage.
#Super Bowl Great reaction. The producers of the show were worried about electrocution with the guitars and other equipment or someone falling on the wet slippery stage. The keyboard player at the time, Morris Hayes, said when they were done all the instruments died. They auctioned them off for charity.
@@wandamanning9198 I was about to say Morris Day I saw him in another performance, but that's a different person. I don't know if I know who Morris Hayes is.
My Chicago Bears lost that Superbowl that night to the Indianapolis Colts, but after that Prince performance, I really didn't care that much about losing...
Hey just doing a follow up about this. I uploaded a reaction and it is currently going through the copyright dispute process and should be up sometime in the next 30 days or so
Bears ran the opening kickoff back for a TD then Peyton and the Colts opened a can of whoopass. New York will never get another Super Bowl, but it was amazing
Still#1 till this day! Price was a genius! Played up to 18-20 instruments on his own and would have own the 80s if it wasn’t for Micheal Jackson Triller
Just for your information In the 1970s, he purposely did suggestive things. He did it famously in the concerts pre-1985, so I can't believe the complaints TWENTY years later! Madonna kissed Brittney and Christina A on stage at some award show. Knock it off y'all. I'm glad you both are viewing these performances and more to come👍
If any fallacy, then “they” failed to “get” it. Prince had always said They was a They b4 They , was a gnder;) Hence the shape of the guitar ;) Foo fighters song is the Hendrix song and also why it was so popular and over played. Prince often “took back “ tracks covered unjustly 😅
That was too much research to start the video. You didn't really get to experience it the way we all did. You did yourselves and your watchers a disservice. Boo.
While I acknowledge your comment, I respectfully disagree. There is no disservice here, information given from commenters will be in videos like this. If this isn't your thing, maybe reaction videos aren't where you should be watching. Have a great day
This consistently clocks in as the greatest half-time performance ever 🤩💜
Absolutely
Agreed
I remember crying, this was so good
Best halftime show ever ❤❤❤❤
It wasn't raining ... It was a monsoon. The only time it EVER rained at the Superbowl.
Really? I guess it was definitely fitting then. The only thing that would have made it better is if they did Have You Ever Seen the Rain instead of Proud Mary
And when he was told about the rain Prince said ‘Can you make it rain harder?’ 💜
Worked out so well too
Just think all those electric guitars and the twins r in 6 inch heels and prince is also in heels with all that rain hitting the stage!!! Prince dominating in rain and all!!!!
They nailed it

So cool. And yeah rude that they decided to play football during the concert

Yeah the set list was definitely very well thought out and worked so well together
Prince was definitely a goat.
Remember when a football game was played during a PRINCE CONCERT?
Rudely interrupted the concert actually
Hey, I remember that😅
Shelby J is the female singer, she was a member of the New Power Generation til his death.
And this was her first performance after joining NPG!
The woman singing is shelby j
The foo fighters did a cover of darling nikki Without asking permission
So as sort of payback hé did the best of you
I wonder if The Foo Fighters were excited when they found out

Incredible performance as always from price and people find it hard to believe it was a live performance . ❤
It was well done
Prince asked for more rain lol, yeah... made me laugh my ass off... that was what he was like lol
I wonder if he was a bit bummed that the instruments stopped working afterwards or if he figured that would happen
It was 😂❤
I do remember hearing about that incident in middle school the next day. I don't remember if it was an accident or if it was on purpose.
You should check out his performance at the NAACP awards. It’s great because he allows other performers with him to shine, along with a few special guests.
Chai and I actually reacted to that one. Definitely check out the Prince Reaction Playlist for it
I CANNOT get over how epic this was

His backup Singer was “Shelby J”…she is now on tour in Europe with Candy Dufler(another band member of the NPG and Musicology Era’s)

It's a shame they didn't have any cover, but it sounds like it was worth it

Haha sometimes the halftime show is better than the actual game.
Prince wore a bandana because he can. Because he's Prince.
I can't wait to see you react to Coast Contra. The simplicity of The Table will keep your attention 😂.
I'm getting songs together for all the guest reactors I have and I think that group is going to be one of them

When Prince was told it was going to rain during his performance, he said... can you make it rain more?
I heard in an interview that the rain shut down the power to the stage audio richt after they were done. ⚡️🌧️
Oh wow. It sounds like they timed it perfectly then
The iconicness? Ok
Would you have chosen a different word?
